It's not pop; it's coke. My cousins live in Northern Ohio and we have had this debate for years. They insist that all carbonated beverages are pop. If I don't refer to the carbonated beverage by its actual name, then it's a coke, whether or not it is an actual Coca-Cola.
@krashke Totally agree: No to Mommy & Me-style outfits. I'm having twins and do not want to dress them alike. Also, agree, it is neither pop, nor coke, it is soda! Sorry, @kfren .
@kfren In England/Canada I always said pop and now in NJ I'm accustomed to saying soda but I know for sure that even if I ever moved South (or any other geographical region that says coke) I will NEVER refer to all pop/soda as coke Coca Cola is coke.
@doxiemoxie212 literally LOL’d at that because it’s exactly how I imagine it going. I’m used to calling it pop but also not opposed to calling it soda... however coke as a generalization is just too much for me.
@LaceyBee522 - If we had ended up with twins, I'd already decided I'd dress them both completely opposite just so it was easier to tell them apart
Also, it's soda. Coke = drugs, or coca-cola
And I like some mommy+me outfits, but it depends. Like, a kid doesn't need to wear a mini-dress so that their pull-up is showing just so that you can have a matching outfit and also look sexy at the same time (because, that's priority?). But both wearing jeans, and having matching-type shirts or something classy or something... I like those outfits. <--- I guess that's an unpopular opinion here!
I'm trying to think of something spicy but I'm pulling a blank canvas. Damn.
@doxiemoxie212 when I lived in Ohio that was how someone would order a drink at a restaurant. Down south it’s different. Here if I said I want a coke I would get a coke. Where I live now it’s soda. Lol
“do you want a coke?” ”sure” ”what kind?” ”I’ll have a sprite”
???
I think this would be better if the last line was "I'll have a Pepsi"

DD likes to match me sometimes. It usually just like boots and jean or the same color dress. I’ve never actaully bought a Mommy and Me outfit but I’m sure DD would be super into if I did. It’s just not really my thing.
I say soda but it’s not odd to hear people refer to it as coke.
I know we talked about Chik-fil-a recently.....tonight my husband's team that he coaches has a dine and share at the one a town over, so I will go with him in support. I just looked at the menu and I think I'll just be getting fries? Nothing looks appealing!
@elsie42 When I moved here I had no idea what a hoagie was. I thought it was some way special thing that wasn't available anywhere else. Also, when my MIL kept saying "pocketbook", for the longest time I thought it was some sort of tablet reader or case thing and never questioned it lol
ha, when i was a flight attendant I would guess where people were from based on what they called the beverage selections. Being from ohio (from ohio valley, now in central oh) the right answer is pop. Correct me if I'm wrong, it has been a while, but don't people in the Mikwaukee area (some of you are from WI, right?) call everything Pepsi? Maybe that was MSP?
I prefer coordinating mommy/me outfits as opposed to straight up matching- although I've never done it.
Wisconsinite here! I call it pop or soda. Growing up in the northern part of WI though, everyone calls it pop.
DH and I have a debate about drinking fountain vs. bubbler. He grew up in central WI and calls it a bubbler. My UO is that I think it's weird to call it a bubbler. Ha!
@aharv77 I went to middle school with a gal from WI and had zero idea what she was talking about when referring to the bubbler. Makes sense now, though!
@kfren Same! When I moved to the Green Bay/Appleton area, I had no clue. Now DD calls it a bubbler. I so badly want to correct her but have to catch myself each time!
Regionally I say Soda, Hoagie and Jimmies for sprinkles. DH is from upstate NY and refuses to say Jimmies or Hoagie- it can be all out war in our house when it's time order dinner. haha.
I'm also in the minority with the mommy and me outfits.... I love that DD currently loves me/ obsessed with me (my own relationship with my mom is so rocky that I'm worried about having a better relationship with her than I have with my own mom) so if she wants to dress like me- let's go shopping and buy a closet full of matching clothes. It's not going to last forever- it's probably not even going to last a decade... so I'm okay with it. Like others have said though... I'm not trying to make my toddler look older than she is (and I'm too old/heavy to be dressing sexy myself). We have 1 "mother of/ daughter of" shirt pair, but I don't usually wear t-shirts like that outside of the gym... so it was indoor wear. DH and DD also have a matching shirt pair with Darth Vader and Leia saying "best father in the galaxy" and "daddy's little princess". Once she is older- and want to dress alike- it will be more like when we wear the same color shirt and jeans now.
@catlady1215 a bubbler in WI is a drinking fountain like a water fountain.
Grew up in Madison and lived in Appleton for 5 years, I never heard anyone actually call it a bubbler. I thought that was more a Milwaukee/Racine thing.
Currently live in MN and they call it duck, duck, grey duck. I like it even though I grew up saying duck, duck, goose. I wanna get this

@dinodna3 EVERYONE in New York. It is soooo annoying. To me, "on line" is connecting to the internet. As in, I'm going to hop online and check the weather. I stopped correcting people about five years ago - it just frustrated all parties. Lol!

Also, as a native Georgian, Pepsi is always last resort.
"Would you like a pepsi?" Nope.
However I'm from the small part of the country that calls a sub a hoagie, so I also know what it's like to be in the minority on things like this lol.

@Austenista Team never Pepsi. How do you feel about those freestyle coke machines? DH doesn’t understand why I hate them. The Coke always tastes off.
