Re: Symptoms 2/1

  • @Firemanswife11 I noticed in another thread you said that pills were never safe for pets. When I got a diffuser I went on a bunch of essential oil sites and found diffusing lavender and lemon was ok. Am I wrong in thinking that? I don't put it on my dog, just diffuse it.

  • Just had to post this because it took me by surprise but I totally had a couple BHC’s this evening. Prolly a little dehydrated. I don’t remember having them so early. But it’s cool because I feel and see exactly where my Ute is. Lol.

FTR - I’m in my 15th week. In case someone was wondering.
  • @dirtanddiamonds that is really early! When I started having BH it felt like they never stopped. I hope I have a few more weeks before dealing with that :grimace:

I'm also a big fan of oils, and the peppermint is always great for my headaches! I use mainly the oils in my diffuser and roller balls. I dilute in the roller balls with coconut oil. I have one for headaches that is a mix of Frankencense and Peppermint that is amazing!

The moderate cramping has come back over the past week or so. I also started spotting on Sunday through about yesterday morning. Both pretty much disappeared after week 8 when I had the u/s to check on everything. I called my OB yesterday and they said as long as it's brown in color, it doesn't become worse, then they aren't worried too much at this point. I am 12 weeks tomorrow, but it's still a little unnerving!

Other than that, I'm still exhausted. I think all of it has to do with traveling last weekend, and the 3 hour time difference though, so I'm just taking it all day by day and trying to rest a bit since I've been back!

  • The office manager at my practice let it slip that I have placenta previa. We went out of the country yesterday, and she told me to call my doc asap for advice. My ob said she wished she didn't worry me like that, and she doesn't diagnose placenta previa until 20 weeks because the uterus is still growing. Couple that with some spotting and you've got one nervous pregnant lady.
  • @7425cait Love tit for hugs.  Sorry you are dealing with this.  Hopefully your doctor can offer you some helpful advice to ease your mind.  Can it potentially resolve itself as you approach the 20 week mark?

^yes, it totally can. That's why my ob was upset with her office manager. A)no doctor officially looked at the results, so she shouldn't have given them to me. And B ) according to my ob, it's not something she is concerned with yet.
  • @7425cait I am on team don't worry. I had PP with my first and it ended up being NBD at all. Went away on it's own and was miles away from my cervix come baby time.
  • Pregnancy insomnia set in a few nights ago and it’s killing me.

  • @brzvice I started getting melasma/dark spots a few years ago from sun exposure and the only thing I’ve found to prevent more darkening is to stay out of the sun, or be smart about covering up your skin with sunscreen. I love the beach and being outside, so just wear what it put 50spf on my face for beach days.

Hydroquinone will help help a little to lighten the spots if they aren’t too bad already. It’s a topical cream that my dermatologist recommended, although that was prepregnancy, so check about that first.

I started using Makeup forever- ultra hd from Sephora as a foundation and love it. It’s light and not cake-y and stays on all day. I never used foundation before this and really like it. Tons of shades, so go to an actual store where they can help you to match a shade to your skin tone.

SAME! I recently weaned my son and I know I’m dry so it’s really odd.

  • @7425cait I’m so sorry you have to deal with that extra stress.

I weaned my son at 10 months and he’s 2.5 and my boobs totally feel full & heavy too!
  • yes!  I've been weaned for 3.5 months and man I feel like that pump would provide some amazing relief right now.
  • I weaned my son atva year and that was almost two years ago and lately when I get in that me shower it’s like I get that “let down” tingle

I’ve been like that too!  I ate like 3 breakfasts and pretty much felt dizzy and off until I ate lunch, which was chick fil a. And I just got Jimmy Johns for dinner. I hope you start feeling better.
  • @alinafed my boobs are extremely sore, too!! And it feels like the new bras I got already don’t fit. Wahhh!!

Does anyone else get really cold in the afternoon? I hit about 4:00 pm and I’m FREEZING! It’s so weird.
  • Anyone have experience with anemia, or even symptoms of what I'm about to describe? I've emailed my GP to order some tests to check some things out. We'll see if she gets back with me.

I just went for a walk, it's cool, cloudy, and not rainy, so perfect weather for a walk. I walked to the bottom of our hill and back up, just a normal leisurely walk, nothing terribly strenuous today as I'm tired but wanted some fresh air. I've done this walk umpteen times since I've gotten pregnant and I've been fine, slightly out of breath but in a good way. But today, about halfway up my heart rate shot up to the point it was almost painful then I felt like I couldn't get enough oxygen with each breath, so I was probably bordering on hyperventilating trying to get air, and then it started to get dark around the edges of my vision. At that point I took off my light sweater and laid down on the ground with my legs up, after about six or seven minutes, it finally got good enough I could make it to the house and sit down.

I checked my sugar when I got to the house, it was 97. So, fine there. My first thought is some sort of anemia, because I've been tired a lot in the past few weeks just doing normal every day stuff, but not enough to affect me, I just figured it was normal everyday pregnancy tiredness. But I definitely notice it more, looking back. My diet since getting pregnant has been okay, but definitely light on the nutritious things like red meat and dark green veggies. And I don't think my prenatal has iron, but honestly not sure. This was different and scary, I've never experienced anything like this, and don't wish to again. :(
  • @neeraja_k yikes!!! That sounds scary. I haven’t had anything like that but I think feeling faint can be associated with blood pressure being off. I’d definitely call your doc or nurse on call and see what they say.

I’ve felt light headed and vision goes black around the edges if I get out of bed too fast but nothing like you’ve described. I hope you feel better and get an answer.
  • @neeraja_k Does your PNV have iron in it? I was feeling really weak/tired in first tri and realized that the PNVs I was taking didn't contain iron, so I switched and started to feel a lot better. I wasn't technically anemic according to my blood work but my iron levels were relatively low for me.

  • @neeraja_k That sounds really scary! And I agree that it sounds more like a blood pressure issue, but I would definitely run it past my GP like you did.

@ladygali I have the opposite problem! I'm generally cold, so that's nothing new. But between 8 and 9 every night I start to burn up and I feel like my face is on fire. Eventually my temperature regulates, but it's just so weird.

My PNV does in fact have iron, 18mg (100% dv). Maybe I'm just needing more for "my normal" ? I don't know.

I do have a history of hypertension and was on low dose medication for it, prior to pregnancy #1. But between getting my blood sugar normalized and losing weight, it improved and I didn't need to go back on medication before this pregnancy. So far during every prenatal visit this pregnancy it's been remarkably normal. But it didn't feel like that problem to me, having experienced high BP before, so I never thought to take a reading when I got home. I do have a BP cuff for home, but arguing with it trying to get a good fit on my larger upper arms tends to raise my BP. heh
  • @neeraja_k I am now anemic thanks to pregnancy and find myself more tired and out of breath but I think it’s more the pregnancy itself. I asked my dr about the breathlessness and he suggested it was the hormone progesterone, the “relaxing” hormone. You also are producing much more blood which can contribute. I get much more out of breath working out pregnant than not but still something to mention to your dr. Hope this helps!

  • After finally tracking down the power cord for my home BP cuff, it was 112/75. So, who knows. I'm slowly feeling better though. I'd still like for my doctor to check me out if she can squeeze me in. But now I feel gun shy about doing anything. lol
  • @neeraja_k something similar happened to me a few times last pregnancy. Random heart rate rising, feeling light headed, etc. My doctor said that if it goes away after water and rest it is probably OK. However, I was farther along. I would definitely mention it to your doctor. I was never told I was anemic at all.

  • @neeraja_k my blood pressure is on the low side and that’s what happens to me when I get out of bed too quickly or if I stand up too fast in yoga. I’d definitely mention it to your doctor. I definitely get out of breath much easier now.
  • My husband is type 2 and has hypertension, and I know for him when his blood sugar is "normal" he feels like he is going to pass out. He's so used to it being high. It sounds like yours is pretty controlled, though, so I'm not sure what to tell you. DH just started insulin, so this week has been a bit rough for him.

  • I’m getting really tired of peeing myself when I cough or sneeze. It’s not daily but some days it’s definutekg more than once. Case in point, tonight. Glad I hadn’t gotten up to change after the first time. Ugh. It’s gross and I don’t have enough undies to keep up with this (nor do I want to wear a liner 24/7)

Only if I go too long without eating, then it hits, but I think that would happen even if I wasn’t pregnant. Give your a doc a call, hope they can help! Feel better!!!

  • @neeraja_k that sounds more blood pressure related. I have a heart condition that affects my bp and I’m low all the time (like 70/30 without meds) and that’s how I feel when I’m low. I know pregnancy can cause low bp. You could try a wrist cuff bp machine if the upper arm doesn’t fit well so you can monitor it and check for trends of high or low. I’d still check in with the doc and see what they have to say!

Could it possibly heartburn related? That’s starting for me. Personally, I wouldn’t take Zofran unless I was actually throwing up. They aren’t sure about all the side effects with it, it’s more of a last resort if you can’t keep anything down. Diclegis is definitely safe, though. You can take 4 a day if just one isn’t helping.

  • Secind the acid reflux - it can masquerade as nausea. Lots of safe meds for it, I’m on protonix (again). Tums do nothing,
