I had tea this morning with a couple of girls I used to work with. It was great to see them, since it's been a few months, and I hadn't told them I'm pregnant. It turns out... one of them is pregnant, too! And she's due in August! So we spent 3 hours talking pregnancy and babies. She is the only person in real life that I'd talked to about TTC, since she told me she was trying, too. So I was a little worried that she'd be disappointed that I was pregnant and she wasn't. But she's two weeks ahead of me! Luckily, the third girl with us was excited for us and happy to talk baby stuff with us.
@ecwk um wut. I can't imagine those comments went over well. @Secretstapler that's awesome! A good friend was due a week after me with DS. It was so nice to have someone IRL to talk to!

@ecwk Ha, no. So far, I know two other pregnant people in real life, we're all due in August, we all work for the same university, and we all have different insurance, so we're all going to different hospitals! I was really hoping one of them would be with me, but no dice.
And who says that to someone? I swear, some people, even if they have a filter in normal situations, just shut it off around pregnant people.
@ecwk I’ll never understand why people don’t realize the only proper response is “Congratulations”
I just found out someone I know is pregnant with twins. I wanted to say “I’m glad it’s you, not me!” But I just said my congrats. Because I’m not an asshole. Usually.
We decided to get laying hens today (yay fresh eggs) and went to the farm store to get feed and come home with feed and 4 ducklings! Dds are so excited! Luckily hubby understands he will have to take care of them.

@Secretstapler it’s so great to go through pregnancy with friends, right now 3 of my friends are pregnant, they are all due in July, lots of baby talk going on!
@calimom2524 you are making me want to buy another pair of tieks but I think my DH will kill me!! I only have a pair of the black matte ones and my cat peed in one of them, I still wear them though
I was all ready to crawl in bed, I'm so tired. As I went in the kitchen to turn the lights off I noticed that the oven light was on. I looked in and realized the boule of sourdough bread I'd been waiting for hours to rise was finally ready to shape and bake. So...the bread smells delicious baking. Lol
We were in the mall because I stopped by Motherhood Maternity, and I needed some good body lotion. I was going to stop at Walgreens on the way home, but DH suggested B&B Works. Mistake! The smell in there was so overpowering and I had a headache in about 30 seconds. I got some body butter though, that I'm going to try out, and hopefully the smell doesn't knock me out.
Afterwards DH wanted a steak, so I suggested we go out to eat and have a little date. We tried a restaurant in town we'd never heard of, ands found out it was MUCH fancier than we had anticipated. Although we were both underdressed we decided to roll with it and had some killer food. I easily look a month further along than I did when we went in, but at least I was wearing maternity jeans so I didn't have to unbutton anything

@neeraja_k that sounds delicious! Fresh baked bread is so good and pretty easy, but people think you’re like this master baker. I learned to make challah last year and it’s very easy, but also easy to braid it so it looks very impressive!
@derbysquirrel that sounds like a fun afternoon, besides the B&B Works headache. I can’t go in there, either. I need a good steak dinner, I’m jealous!
I went to hear San Jose Taiko perform last night and it was amazing. I play Taiko drums so it was fun to hear another group. This morning, ds is making me so sad because he said he’s not going to eat anymore so he doesn’t grow big. He keeps saying he doesn’t want to grow big, so I suggested to DH we stop making comments about his size because it’s obviously bothering him. Poor kid, I wish I knew how to help him.
@ecwk I can relate unfortunately. My coworker said “oh I thought so! You were losing and losing after your son was born and then I thought maybe you were pregnant since you stopped”. Yeah..... thanks
Wow, some people. Not showing up to a party you said you were attending and especially when the host already paid for you, and making those type of comments to a pregnant woman? So rude.
@ecwk and @livinthesunnylife so so rude. I’m not sure why people think it’s okay to comment on a pregnant woman’s body. Everytime I see my FIL he comments on me being big and I honestly think I’m going to say something next time.
We’ve had a pretty relaxing weekend which has been nice. Just worked around our house and spent time as a family. Tried to get DS to watch Moana last night, but if it’s not Thomas the Train, he’s not interested.
@amac12999 last time I was pregnant, at parent teacher conferences, the father of one of my students said as he was leaving “are you sure you’re not having twins hahaha” I wanted to fucking punch him
@ecwk a lady at work asked me that several times with DS. “Are you sure there’s not two in there?”
Also around week 13 another coworker said, “I predict you’re having a girl because your hips have really spread out.” Ummmm...okay. Thanks?
I cant believe a dad said that to you though. That’s freaking awkward. I know my husband was shocked at some of the stuff said to me with DS because a lady at his work was pregnant too, and he was like, apart from congratulating her, no one ever even acknowledges it.

Did you say anything back? I’m not sure I could’ve bit my tongue.

an ESP at work told a girl who is due next month that she must be having a girl because the baby has stolen her beauty. Swear to God I’m not making that up!
As dumb as it sounds now that I think of it. We were at Buy Buy Baby this afternoon - stopped to check the adorably tiny premie selection... I’ve never had a baby that small and I know it’s not a good thing but the teeny clothes are so precious... and the sales lady came over and started to ask us if “Did we need help selecting something for someone? Did they have a small baby? These are our premie clothes.” And I had my four year old there. So, clearly a mom. I know baby sizes. Premie clothes have four hundred stickers on them that day premie instead of a size. But I’m also pretty obviously pregnant in maternity clothes - which I was rocking - or so I thought. And I just said, “I’m 17 weeks pregnant.” And she apologized and said if we need help to holler. And I teared up. I told SO she must’ve thought I was just fat. Of course he was like no way. But it still hurt my feelings. And it’s dumb. And I know that. This “Is she fat, is she pregnant” stage just sucks. I’m not handling it well.
And SO is back to Florida. So I’m just sad. Ready for his trip to be done.
Baby brain struck this evening. Using the instant pot for the first time to make potato soup. It’s done and I wonder why it looks so brothy. Apparently I read 5lbs of potatoes and thought to myself that was the same as 3 individual potatoes lmao. I about cried so DH is off to the store to buy more.
Massive migraine yet again today, and I'm also a raging bitch. When DH is home on the weekends, DS wants pretty much nothing to do with me, so that's just so much fun. Plus he's refused to nap, which means I don't get to nap either. Had to cancel our dinner plans because I'm not risking crying in public (again).

I've done absolutely nothing today. I've had a raging headache and laid on the couch. I have been feeling the baby move tonight though which is exciting! I'm only 14wk 2days but I'm on the smaller side of average and I did lose 15lbs with morning sickness... I felt ds at 16 weeks so it's not too much earlier

Stupid hormones. Making me teary too much.
I’ve seen your HDBD pics, you are soooooooo not fat!! Don’t be hard on yourself! I know that’s way easier said than done though! Maybe she thought you knew someone who had a premie because if you’re still pregnant there’s no way to know if you’ll need them! Sorry SO is gone for now but pow the time flies! Hugs!!
@ecwk you are really sweet. Thank you. And I’m sure you are right. She meant no harm. I have such thin skin right now. Lol. Just in a pity party funk. I think I’ll be better when SO is done for good. March 28th!!
@scottishlass1213 rofl, I shouldn't laugh. But I could totally see it happening to me. So far my worst blunder had been putting a bag of whole fresh apples in the freezer. Because why not..
First official announcement to my husband's family went over really well today. We put a picture of the announcement beneath my MIL's birthday present and she was so excited and shocked she had to take a picture to send to my SIL to make sure she was thinking it was what she thought it was. So cue two very excited phone calls this afternoon.
Also @neeraja_k I'm so happy your announcement to in laws went great! You deserve all the love and encouragement from family! I know you've mentioned things are not the healthiest with your side of the family but im hoping when that time comes it feels just as right.
Re: Weekend Randoms 2/24
I already knew that, **** told me.
I feel bad because you worked so hard to lose all that weight before you got pregnant and now you’re going to gain it all back.
You don’t look like you’re pregnant. You just look like you haven’t lost the baby weight from last time.

@jennybeans46 That's exciting! I've wanted chickens for a long time, but our HOA won't let us. H's parents had 2 - until a hawk came and ate one
