@lolog531 I definitely don't skip out on sushi from our reputable local place! I eat deli meat too. Gasp! Clutch your pearls, lol. And I keep eating my regular cheeses, lol....
I don't miss alcohol at all. But and I guess this is my FFFC I still kinda miss smoking. I quit as soon as I found out and would never smoke while pregnant. But, every once in awhile when stressed I think about how nice a cigarette would be. I am hoping to never smoke again so I hope that goes away.
Eta: spelling is hard
You’re badass to have quit like that, so well done and it’s ok to miss it!! I used to smoke occasionally/socially but also quit the second I had my BFO with DS. Except for two cigarettes on a drunken night out last year, I haven’t picked the habit back at all, so I am proof you can do it!!
@ecwk it honestly wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I had tried to quit so many times and ended up failing. This time it wasn't about me. I felt like it was my responsibility to my unborn child. Good job on quitting!
@dirtanddiamonds Crown Apple?! This might be a little forward but I have a feeling you can draaaaaank haha I'm a Hennything goes type of girl myself lol and thankfully I don't miss it.
Catching up... I really want some sangria but I think just because all that wine soaked fruit is amazing
Agree that the board is all over the place with private group and Facebook talk, let’s agree to pick it back up later?
I miss my e-cig every day but I know it was the right thing to do. Kudos to all that quit! It’s not easy!
+1 for eating deli meat and hot dogs. If there was a sushi place around here that I went to frequently and trusted I’d probably eat that too.
FFFCx2 I love cruising old and abandoned BMBs to see what kind of drama ensued in like 2015. It’s hard not to throw out love-its for the really good burns though
@Brezzy1928 I quit cold turkey when I got pg with DS, so I understand what you’re going through. The first trimester was hard, but it slowly got easier. I’ve tried one a few times since having him and it always tasted gross. It’s been so long now that I don’t miss it and would never go back. Stay strong, you got this!
@mrsbubbles-2 me too! Before my time, apparently there was a thing called “the bump secrets.” I forget what board it was but they signed up on one of those anonymous confessions sites and users posted confessions about other bumpies. Some of them were very personal and it caused major drama.
@lakesideknitter I’ve been dying for a steak, that sounds amazing!
DH has been mixing himself some delicious drinks at home so I will have a tiny taste. He made a good Manhattan, margarita, dark & stormy, and I had to try his scotch. We like the liquor, lol. I miss cocktails!
My FFFC: I’ve never smoked a cigarette or done any kind of drug. I feel so lame, lol.
@Brezzy1928 I quit smoking with Chantix in September before TTC in October. I still want one sometimes, but it passes quickly and is easy enough to ignore. I was a pack a day smoker for 17 years, and quitting has always seemed impossible. I never would have been able to quit cold turkey, but the Chantix was able to help me over the major hurdle. It made me violently ill, though. I'm glad I quit in time for winter, since standing outside in 12 degree weather sucks!

I've been wanting wine but I don't know if I will feel comfortable at any point to drink it while pregnant. I definitely don't judge those who do though. I may give in once I'm well into the 3rd tri and have a glass though. Until then it'll just be sips here and there if DH has anything.
I have some Angry Orchard in the fridge that I stare longingly at sometimes, and my dad had one today. I stole a sip and savored it. So good.

Yeah. I’m no lightweight. Lol. But after a decade of working construction where the go to gift for every holiday is whiskey from our vendors and subs. It’s rubbed off. And when they came out with crown apple last year. Omgeeee. It’s delicious.
I don't drink during pregnancy (don't have a problem with those who choose to have a small glass of wine or beer every now and then though), but we are in Ireland and went to the Guinness test brewery, so I had to sample some of DHs brews.
I miss wine. I’m laying here on the couch feeling like crap, and I just want a glass of wine. As for hot dogs, I didn’t realize I should stay away from those. I ate a few last weekend at a kid party because that was the only food they had. I’ll probably eat a lot more this summer when we start having evening fires in the backyard.
Yeah hot dogs for the same reason as deli meat but I’ve never understood it since you cook hotdogs. I like mine super grilled anyways. It was delicious haha
I just try to limit the amount of hot dogs and tuna I have on a weekly basis.
When I was pregnant with my second we had a ton of sausages because we found these delicious ones at Costco. It wasn’t till after I ate like 4/5 a week for a few weeks that I remembered I wasn’t supposed to be eating that many! So far DS2 is fine lol
I still eat both hot dogs and lunch meat. Nitrates are not great for you ever, so I just don't have those items every day. I include bacon in that too. I'll try to just have one serving like 3-4 times a week, maximum.
I had no idea I was supposed to avoid hot dogs with my first pregnancy and I ate them multiple times a week. She turned out fine.
I normally love hot dogs but the garlic reflux has kept me away from them. I may have one (well-cooked, of course) once summer hits. I hate most lunch meat so that hasn't been a major sacrifice. Cheese sandwiches all the way.

I really miss dirty martinis and sushi though.
You’re in Ireland?? Where have you gone? Where are you going?
FFSC: I was at the pool earlier and stepped away from everyone to put on bug spray. I took off my engagement ring and wedding ring and put them on the table while I sprayed. TOTALLY FORGOT about them and walked away and went about my business and hung out and ate and chatted and played with DS and as I walked past the table much later and saw my rings there. I hate to think what could’ve happened if I hadn’t walked by again!
Hotdogs aren't a risk of they are heated to steaming. That's if you don't mind nitrates. Same as deli meat. I've had three since I've been pregnant, and I'm sure I'll have a few more before I'm due.

Another thing with the hot dogs and lunch meat is nitrates. But the weird thing is most bacon has nitrates, and they never tell you not to eat that.
Because ‘they’ know there are limits. No booze, no sushi but GODDAMIT DONT TAKE MY BACON!!!
really though nitrates are never recommended but, meh. Whatever. Listeria makes me nervous though.
Listeria makes me nervous too but the thing is you're not more likely to get listeria from lunch meat or hot dogs than you are from apples or ice cream, which is what the last two outbreaks were found in. You gotta live your life!

Definitely! All the outbreaks are always random stuff.
I will be eating the hell out of hotdogs this summer.
And frankly, at some point here I’ll probably have sushi too. I’ve really been craving it. But I’d only get it from a place I really trust. I also ate raw oysters on nye - also from a very trusted place.
@ecwk yep! We went away for four nights. First two in the center of Dublin. Yesterday we stayed in Cashel. Today we went to Kilkenny and Howth and are staying the night in Dublin again at a fancy shmancy hotel that we got with bonus points( and totally stick out like sore thumbs. ) We fly back tomorrow.
I have found hot dogs, sausages and bacon without nitrates in them, so I feel better eating those (even when not pregnant). I try to keep those on hand at home, but I will not deprive myself of bacon from a restaurant or a hot dog at a ball game or cookout this summer!!
With listeria, it makes me nervous, but when I was pg with DS there was an outbreak in ice cream and spinach, so I’m like meh, just be careful.
Your family is from there, right? Where about do you go?
Well I’m from there...born and raised. Just moved to the states a few years ago! Don’t want to say from where exactly, too identifying! But not Dublin haha closer to the west coast
@neeraja_k I would kill for a juicy IPA right now. Right when I found out I was pregnant there were a ton of awesome releases I missed out on. Thinking in late 3rd tri I'll have a sip or two of DHs occasionally... I cannot wait.
