Growing up, one of my favorite things to read in the magazines was the embarrassing moments section.

Share a humorous story about a time you were mortified. Give as little or as much detail as you want but don’t forget about the punch line. Gifs will also suffice to tell the story because gifs.are.awesome.

I was scheduling a Dr’s appt and the receptionist asked me if I knew where this certain hospital was so she could direct me to their office. My response: “oh, yeah, I almost died there” cue nervous awkward laugh from receptionist and a long pause... I am on the other end literally hitting myself over the head like WTF, WHY did I just say that?!? She doesn’t need to know that! Why do I just blurt things out, clearly I need to learn to think before I speak.

I frequently just blurt things out so this is this is one of a long long line of awkward and mortifying moments.

Ok I’ll play cause I need a pick me up today. Probably the most embarrassing moment of my life was when I was studying abroad in France. My BF at the time just flew over and proposed to me in front of a castle. I said yes because I’m 19 years old and who can say no to that. I regretted it almost immediately (we ended up breaking up a month later). So instead of dealing with the problem I went out drinking with a group of friends. I got so incredibly drunk. As I was sitting on the toilet in the club I ended up puking into my pants… multiple times. I somehow tried to clean myself up and made my way outside. We ended up having to walk home because no taxi would let me into their cab. Luckily I was so drunk I don’t remember people’s reactions but I was mortified the next day.

I was away with my cheerleading team for a big competition. The night before we were flying home I started feeling really sick but figured it's just from an exhausting weekend. The next morning we get up for a flight and I'm even worse. I'm trying to hold myself together so no one knows. We get to the airport and I keep leaving to throw up. Then I legit shit my pants because I was throwing up so much. I clean myself up and get on a plane with the whole team. At this point I REALLY can't let anyone know because norwalk virus is going around and I know I won't be allowed to fly if the airline finds out I'm so sick. I am in a window seat which would have been lovely except I had to go to the bathroom to throw up every 15 minutes. The flight attendant finally caught on. They then started calling down to ground every time I threw up. I ended up sitting in the back with them with a giant garbage bag so I wouldn't keep holding up the bathroom.
Finally the (very full) plane lands and I hear over the speaker "please stay seated while EMS boards to tend to our sick passenger". I nearly died. I was in the very back of the plane and sure enough some super hot paramedics board with a stretcher to come down to get me. We let everyone else off and they escorted me to the terminal. I never got to walk down to present the banner with my team. Instead I'm getting my sugars checked telling these super hot men that I'm fine just couldn't stop pooping / throwing up and had to sign something to refuse to leave in the ambulance. The whole time I thought I was going to die. If I had any color left in my face I would have been bright red no doubt.
To make matters better - I gave the virus to about 50% of my cheerleading team.

The last time I took my car in for service the mechanic held out his hand after I dropped off my car (for me to give him the keys), and because I'm the most awkward person ever, I thought he was trying to shake hands. It took me several seconds of awkward hand holding before I caught on and gave him my keys and left as fast as I could.

I’ve always had kind of sensitive blood sugar, when I was about 12 we were attending a memorial service and it was standing room only (and my family was late to everything). We were standing in the side of the church when I started to feel warm. I started to turn to tell my mom... and woke up on the floor with like 5 people fussing over me.

I had fainted right in the middle of the memorial service and several people had gotten up to make sure I was ok. I was intensely embarrassed (especially since I’m rather shy).

@kristah2 - Girl. From someone currently recovering from norovirus: not cool!! On an airplane, no less! But you were a teenager so it's forgivable. I'd have done the same thing probably.

I walked into a totally unmissable, 2 foot wide purple column at a crowded movie theater once because I was very busy ogling a poster of Colin Farrell.

My sisters have never let me live it down.

@wishiwaspreggo YES! I know!! it was so bad but I just wanted to get home to my bed and someone to take care of me. Plus I was young and if they didn't let me on the plane I would have had to sleep in the airport which would have been just as bad.

@coco2787 I've had this moment!!! When I was 16, my mom took me out to the Cheesecake Factory for my birthday. They gave us a buzzer for our wait, and when it went off, we went back to the host table. The guy at the table was suuuuuuuper attractive. He puts his hand out, and I totally slow-motion shook his hand because my brain wasn't working, and he said "thanks, but can I get your buzzer?" I died. He must've told the waitress since she was giggling when she walked up, and I think that was the fastest I've ever eaten and left. My mom still loves reminding me.

Okay, I have been thinking for days of an embarrassing moment because I REALLY try to erase any memory of one. BUT I have one...

So, back when my bestie and I were in college, I think like freshman year, we went to see a movie at the $1 theater. They make most of their money on food, which is too expensive, so we decided to sneak in some Mcdonalds. Well, we were sitting, and decided to take it out of our purses and start eating before the movie started. All of a sudden the lights came on, and over the loud speaker up at the projector an employee said "You two girls with the food, leave the theater or throw it away". I WAS SO FREAKING embarrassed!! My bestie just sat there and said "no way am I leaving", the employee on the speaker said "We will not start the movie until you two throw away the food". EVERYONE WAS LOOKING AT US! It was a FULL theater. I panicked and ran out of the theater and didn't come back in until it was dark. I don't even remember what movie it was. It was horrible. To this day I will NEVER sneak food into a theater.
