Does anyone know the percentage of embryos sent for testing that usually cone back normal? Like, when my RE said one of 12 of my eggs at my age is likely normal (of course, on average), is that meaning that it’s not still 1 of 12 odds since some of those 11 abnormal were lost before blastocyst stage? So I guess what I’m trying to get at is, what are odds based on those reaching blastocyst stage that are chromosomally normal? Can you tell this waiting is making me crazy? Thanks for bearing with me!

thanks ladies!  I had insomnia last night so that was not fun.  It's ok as I think I'll get use to it.  what a ride!  My OPKs are getting darker so that's great and I'm a little crampy in the uterus.  I'm hoping after O things subside.  I saw my nautropath yesterday.  we altered my supplements not by much since I'm not focusing on conceiving right now.  I'm going to take my PNV, vit C, vit D, omega 3, and probiotic.

@Momifbysea I forget how Old you are.. maybe this can help?  I had 12 eggs make it to day 5 , 5 of them are normal, 3 of them are mosaic(contain normal and abnormal cells) and the other 4 were abnormal. I am 37 .. and was SHOCKED when I heard my results. My RE even said she was really surprised at how many embryos I had make it to PGS testing and surprised that many were normal.

The mosaics still got frozen even though they don’t recommend them for transfer right now. I’ve done some research on them but if I have to go through 5 normal embryos there’s a bigger problem here.

@ndz2018 they said they’d call me by next Thursday at the latest. Thanks for that information. I’m 43 so I’ve read 9 of 10 eggs abnormal, but it’s harder to find percent of blasts abnormal.

We got some terrible news yesterday. Our foster dog , Clarence, lungs were filled with fluid so we have to rush him to the emergency vet to get drained. They also found a huge mass on his left lung which is more likely than not cancer. We are completely heartbroken and know the draining only bought us some time before they either fill up again or the cancer gets him. We are waiting on results. I am so grateful for this time we have with our sweet Sweet boy and that he got to know what true love is with our family. He will be spoiled with love, steaks and chicken till the time comes.

Oh I'm so sorry @ndz2018 that would be so hard!

i got 10 hours sleep last night. I feel much better but my body is very tired from the last 2 weeks. I think only the hot flashes are left - 1 at night.

@ndz2018 oh I'm so sorry that's such terrible news poor little man:( He's so lucky this that he found you and like you said he knew what love is and when the time comes he will be surrounded by love and his family rather than cold and alone in a shelter. When I can no longer foster the young ones I want to do hospice for the old dogs in shelters.

@Momifbysea first of all YAY!!! I did a little happy dance when I read you had 3 blasts! Woot! I did a bunch of research on rates of normal blasts via PGS and found nothing, so I scoured the boards and my conclusion is that it’s anyones guess! I just don’t think we understand infertility well enough.

We had three blasts at day 5 too and opted not to test since the price for FET was less than PGS testing and we were going to fresh-transfer two (our clinic gets next day results, so you can test and fresh transfer). Out of two “really good” blasts only one took and the third arrested so none were frozen. So, for us 2/3 of our blasts didn’t make it. Overall we had 6 fertilize, so 1 out of 6 at age 37. My RE made it sound like our results were not normal and that we should have had blasts to freeze.

@PoeMasque thank you for stopping by to share that! It’s always good to get some perspective from others 35+, although sometimes I feel I’m in an even different category being 40+ and all. Thinking of you and hope all is going smoothly!

Ok, @poemasque@ndz2018 and @kristimh80 I found something helpful for understanding rates of normal blasts...peer-reviewed and pretty recent as published 2016 nonetheless! Because I can’t sleep til I get these results haha!

“We also observed that the proportion of euploid embryos at day 5 tends to be higher than at day 3 across all maternal ages, but that the total number of embryos at day 5 was less than that at day 3. The precise counterbalance of these two metrics suggests that the attrition of embryos from day 3 to day 5 is due largely to aneuploidy; however, there are other possible explanations, including attrition of euploid embryos combined with trisomy rescue, and mosaicism.”

Also: The median proportion of euploid embryos in each cycle remained relatively steady at ∼35% in day-3 biopsies and ∼55% in day-5 biopsies in women 27 to 35 years old, and then rapidly declined to 0 by age 44.” But at age 43, the median percent of women with at least one normal embryo was about 25%, so I’m feeling good. My odds just went up by our having them survive to day 5!

@Momifbysea oh good find! This is good to know because we will likely be doing IVF when I’m 40+ if we want to have a second kiddo.

When do you get your results? Would you be doing a FET in March?

@Momifbysea Great read! Honestly, I did this last IVF cycle with 3 other girls...all are 5 - 7 years younger than me. I expected them to haver better results at Day 5 embryos, but I actually ended up with the highest # at 6. So you really never know. One of the girls had 8 going on day 3, then went in for her fresh transfer on Day 5 and was told only 2 were viable and she had nothing to freeze. I swear it's all a crap shoot a lot of times!

I just need to vent AF came today day 26 like really you waited almost a week to come last month now your messing with my vacation. If I got it later I would have gotten it the last day but now I'll get it the day we go so pretty much the whole time. Hopefully next month it decides to hold off. So frustrating.

@Labluver2 Sorry it showed up during vacation.

Yesterday we had to do what was best for our little foster dog and put him to sleep. His lung was filled with Cancer and the other was filling up with fluid. Poor guy had no chance.

@ndz2018 I’m so sorry to hear about your dog, that’s heartbreaking. But glad he won’t be suffering anymore.

@Labluver2 I hate when that happens right before vacation! I feel like it always happens, too! Hope you’re enjoying your time away though.

@PoeMasque the embryologist said results latest by Thursday. Crazy week as movers come Monday and Tuesday so I’d be driving the 4 hours back here for the transfer. Hopeful but at the same time haven’t even let myself go there as far as thinking of when transfer would be, seems so surreal.

I'm so sorry @ndz2018 I know you really loved him and he had such a happy home in his final months.

@Momifbysea GL on the move. My parents are moving into a new house this week as well.

sorry about AF @Labluver2 clomid really killed my CM so I'm pretty sure that why you're having more now with all the femara you took.

@ndz2018 I'm so very very sorry you had to go thru all that yesterday. But glad he's not in any pain anymore. I had to do that once before, it's definitely hard because selfishly, we don't want to let go.

@Labluver2 Hopefully AF won't ruin your whole vaca! I swear when you have plans, she shows up and when you need her to come, she's late.

@ndz2018 that's so sad I'm so sorry but so glad he was loved and doted on for the short time you had him. He will be forever greatful to you.

@vlagrl29 maybe that's why my cm was off bc since being off the femera it's come back!!!

@kristimh80 last time 2 years ago we went to Mexico and I had it for the first half of it. I'm supposed to get it the day we leave :(

@labluver2 - exactly I bet that's it!  CM is a very important part of the TTC process and I know some people need femara/clomid to conceive but that EWCM is like liquid gold and the last 2 times we've had sex I've just had to push the pre seed applicator up there and squirt it up.  So bad and sex was not comfortable.  I use to take BC pills long time ago and it dried me up as well.  what is it with my body and hormones :)
