Re: February 2018 IVF

  • @roisis good luck on the blood work and fingers crossed for ER.

i go in today for u/s and blood work. i had 7 resting follicles on my initial scan so i’m hoping for a larger number today. they estimated ER will be somewhere between feb16-18, so we’ll see what today’s scan shows.

  • @roisis good luck with ER! I was hoping I didn’t have to do the mock since I did my hsg in oct but no go

    Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! March 6th our little man was born.

6/17/13 - Ovidrel, Follistim, Prometrium ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP! March 17th our St. Pattys day baby arrived

    10/29/17 - Started process for IVF, got pregnant & miscarried a 2nd time since summer. 2/22 started stims - Menopur, Gonal F, Cetrotide - retrieval 3/6 - , PIO, estrace 3xday - FET 4/18 = Beta 1: 616; Beta 2: 1342 = BFP

  • @roisis Yay for almost ER time!!! They ended up bumping mine up a day too. Hopefully you've taken a little bit of time off for after it. I was glad to have had an extra day off! :)

@mcgeeva Mock is easy and fast and so much better than an HSG! HSG just looks at your tubes to make sure they are open. The Mock is going to look and measure where they need to place your embryo in your uterus, so totally different things. I'd do a Mock over an HSG any day :)

  • Yep so Mock was nothing. Didn't feel a thing! I swear everything at the fertility clinic is 100 times better. The hospital for HSG I cursed at the doctor it hurt so flipping bad. But HSG at shady grove also felt nothing.

  • kristimh80  lol. I hear you! I go to everything myself. All my IUIs were an hour away and both times I went super early sitting there with my husbands sperm waiting. Did my HSG and today by myself. I think once you do this crap so many times it's just another apt. Now retrieval and transfer his ass is going to. I am not holding a cup of sperm this time!

@sparkle0404 4 is not bad at all. But, I know what you mean I cancelled my previous IVF cycle because we only had 3 follicles growing. I hope all will work out and all of them will become beautiful healthy embryos. Keeping you in my prayers. :)
  • @llky Thank you so much. I'm just praying they all make it to blast. If not RE is talking about doing a 3 day transfer.

  • @sparkle0404 I can understand being less than excited about getting 5 eggs - but getting 4/5 to fertilise is a great result! They must be good quality eggs <3 Best of luck in the next few days getting them to blast xx
@shaelan 9 embabies! Wow - that's a fantastic result! Are you planning a fresh transfer or waiting for frozen (sorry - I can't remember your plan <3)
@mrsa2017 It's all happening - and in Barbados - nice! Last few shots :)  How are you feeling now?

AFM - ER will still be on Monday, not Sunday. I guess it gives them an extra day to grow. My chirpy-happiness is all gone :( Feel really bloated and grumpy and emotional (and sorry for TMI - but quite constipated which is not helping!!). I trigger with Suprefact this evening and that's the end of the shots. I'm glad it's the weekend and I can just curl up and stay away from everyone. Getting nervous about ER now, I know I shouldn't - I'm just a worrier.

  • @roisis I felt heavy and tired yesterday but good today.  DH said my vag looks a bit swollen with my lower abdomen but my bloat is not that noticeable (like a pregnant belly) so that's good I guess. I'm not a everyday number 2 person so I wonder how I'll know if I'm constipated  :/
Yaaay for triggering tonight! What time is everything happening? This is getting exciting and you'll do great just remember to breathe. Barbados is lovely and I'm relaxed and stress free. Our one year anniversary is tomorrow and we have dinner reservations at 7 30. I maybe shooting in a bathroom if we trigger tomorrow,  oh well :D

  • @mrsa2017 Happy Anniversary!! That's lovely that you get to have a romantic celebration in Barbados - even if it is momentarily interrupted with a shot. Enjoy your evening <3  I triggered at 9:30pm last night for an 8am retrieval tomorrow. I still feel pretty rotten - and everything 'down there' feels a little swollen and sensitive. Ok - sorry for more TMI but - I had a total freak out this morning thinking I was getting a dose of thrush - I was really upset but then I thought it's probably more likely that it's just a slight irritation caused by all the drugs/poking and prodding - at least that's what I'm trying to convince myself of for the rest of the day. FX I'm not kidding myself...
And as a matter of interest I weighed myself this morning and I'm up a full 7lbs since starting stims! Yikes - I'm hoping that just means I have heavy eggs - I just feel So Grosse right now :/
Sorry to be a bit of a grump. Hope everyone else is hanging in there - GL to everyone <3<3

  • Good morning ladies. I had an early morning scan today. Honestly, I really don't know what I should be expecting to see at this point so I really don't know if my numbers are good or bad. I keep looking for those kind of stats on the internet but I haven't really found anything. I have 5 measurable eggs right now and would estimate I'm halfway through stims. I guess I was hoping for a much larger number than that and I don't know how many more I should expect to mature. I keep watching YouTube videos and documentaries on Netflix but I still feel like I'm in the dark on a lot of this. I tried asking at my appointment this morning and the tech just said "everyone progresses differently".

It is helpful to read all of your progress so thank you for sharing your stories.
  • @mrsa2017 Happy Anniversary!!! <3

@roisis Excited for your ER tomorrow! Stay away from the scales during this time. A lot is morels water weight, so don't get too down about it. As soon as your AF comes after ER, it'll all flush back out :) Be thankful, you're about to get over a huge hump in this process.

@heddamae Try not to stress too much over your #'s. Everyone is different really. I have PCOS ovaries and I had a high count, but in the end, ended up around the same #'s as my friends that had 1/4 retrieved that I did. Better to have good quality, than a lot of immature one's that aren't great :) Plus, you're only 1/2 way thru stims, there's still a chance some of your smaller one's can catch up!

  • @roisis thanks love. The one good thing about starting an IVF cycle was that we got to pick our time. We chose around this time so we would be on vacation and I won't be stressed out from work, can rest and relax. I trigger tonight at 9pm for a 9am ER on Tuesday.
It all comes down to this and we came too far to let fear or negative thoughts steal this time from us. I am eager to hear how everything goes for you tomorrow. My coordinator told DH we can get our freak on tonight but we decided not too so his sample is great on ER day. Stay away from the scale young lady! I'm glad they don't have one here because my husband and I would be fighting to get on it  :s..  I'm sure your vag is fine just tired of being bothered but just mention it tomorrow just for your peace of mind. Today was the first that the wand hurt and I could see the concern on DH face.. the tech was trying to count my follicles. Lawd that was uncomfortable as hell.

@kristimh80 thanks hunni bun! Did you get your final blast count? Did I miss it?

Can I drink some wine tonight?

  • Happy Monday Morning everyone :-1:  @kristimh80 that is exciting! Let us know how it goes. I’m on the train on the way to monitoring for my day 4 of stims. I’ve had a few minor side effects but nothing awful so far. Thanks for the encouragement. I hope I progress quickly but have no idea what to expect. I guess probably average since our dx is mfi.

@mrsa2017 your IVF vacation sounds amazing haha

@heddamae I read that 10-20 is a good range and too many can lead to less success. Fingers crossed for you!!
  • @kristimh80 exciting! Even though some of us are doing fresh and some are doing frozen,  we'll still be KU together.

@greenhillgirl this was the best decision ever!

AFM..  ER is tomorrow and I woke up feeling like shit thanks to some meds they came me to take at bed time starting last night.  I feel nauseous,  I have a headache and I feel close to throwing up..  Uuughh

  • Hey all, ER went successfully - 16 eggs retrieved - I only got 9 last time so I'm really happy with that!! I tend to get really anxious and nervous about these things so I was quite upset this morning but it all went really smoothly. Only slight cramping since I came home, I'm wrecked tired but that's ok. Managed to eat some toast and don't have much nausea. I've arranged to work from home for most of the rest of the week, so I can get lots of rest. Back in for a scan on Thursday to see if the old OHSS turns up again, but I'll just hope for the best (more anxious about the call tomorrow!)

@mrsa2017 Best of luck tomorrow (or it could be tonight - I can never figure out how far we are away with time differences!) Sorry you're suffering from nausea - hopefully you get a good nights sleep. Take it really easy and be good to yourself and try not to worry. You get to take a major step in this journey tomorrow (hah - tis easy for me to sound wise and confident once I'm done - isn't it ;) )
@greenhillgirl That's great that you're on the way now. Getting started is a huge step - take care of yourself <3
@kristimh80 Best of luck with the FET consult xxx
@heddamae I know this sounds like a cliche but everyone is different. IF appears to be a logistical minefield - and there are so many people whose infertility is just 'unexplained'. Following other peoples's stories is encouraging but it's best not to compare your numbers with other peoples. It can be very disconcerting if you get a low number of follicles or eggs but at the end of the day it's the quality of the ones you do get that is far more important - and this is virtually impossible to check until you actually get your own and see your results. I wish you all the best in your treatment. I guess just try to relax, as much as this is possible, and follow your clinics advice. GL <3<3<3

  • @heddamae good luck with the stimming and hopefully your follicles keep growing, there's still time. But as others have said it's the quality that counts. Actually my doctor told me he was hoping  to get from 6 - 10 eggs. He doesn'twant me to have too many because he's worried about OHSS.

@mrsa2017 wow I'd love to be off on a tropical holiday right now! Good luck with the ER.

@roisis 16 sounds like a perfect number. I hope they get back to you with good news tomorrow.

To everyone in the post-ER stage I hope your embryos are doing well  <3

AFM I've finally jumped aboard the stimming train! Had my first shot of Menopur last night. I did it myself because my SO is a total sissy when it comes to these things. It was fine, it didn't hurt so I hope I did it properly  :D

  • @mrsa2017 That's a great point!! I'm so glad I jumped on this board...you guys are awesome and I never thought about having future baby mom friends on here too! :)

FET consult went well today! Gotta wait on next AF, which should be the beginning on March, but she said after IVF, some times periods can be wonky and could be earlier / later. Then get to do 15 days of estrogen and then adding in PIO shots. They offered vaginal stuff, but sounded like a hot mess! lol

  • @Orlaa Yay - congrats on the stimming! Definitely the thoughts of what it could be are worse than what it is - so I'm pretty sure you did it right :) And yes - wait til you see - the next 2 weeks will fly in comparison to the last few. GL <3
@kristimh80 Great news on the FET consult. I think I might be waiting an extra month (i.e. get 'post-ivf AF' then wait a month and then start the FET month) That's what I did before, but we'll wait to see what doc says. Yeah - I took the vaginal progesterone - and looks like I'll be using it again - it is all rather unpleasant - it's somewhere between gloopy and grainy and it tends to clump (uck!) Shots might be the more pleasant option. Wishing you a speedy AF :D

@mrsa2017 welcome back.  Glad to hear your follies are developing well and yay for good lining.  Fingers crossed for a great ER tomorrow!!

@Roisis 16!!  Great!  FX For a good fertilization report

@orlaa yay for starting stims.  They totally aren't as bad I I thought they would be, especially the Menopur.

AFM:  We'll be triggering tonight for a Wednesday egg retrieval.  I'm waiting for the phone to ring to give me timing.  I've got 18 in the running, most a 17-18 with a few stragglers back to 14 and one over achiever at 19.  I have the whole week off from work so I'm just relaxing at home, not Barbados :) but better than work.

Hi all, I've been MIA because this month has been super crazy at work--really great timing with IVF and the anticipated 1-2 days off.  Oh well.  Anyway, jumping back in because there is A LOT to catch up on!

@Artemis618 I am so sorry about your disappointing blast report.  I know you were worried and you've had so much disappointment in the past.  I'm sad and frustrated for you.  Obviously I hope you get good news from the PGS testing.  Please keep us updated.  I'm rooting for you and your embies.

@heddamae @Ilky @sparkle0404 @txjewel and anyone else I missed: Welcome!! Happy to have you here!

@heddamae Wow, your company sounds amazing!  I want to come work there.  :)

@mrsa2017 How's Barbados??  Out of curiosity, how did you settle on a clinic there?  Hopefully you get some nice weather to enjoy while you're stimming. Like you and @ChristenMA83 I am irrationally excited about my nightly injections.  I have a reminder in my phone that says "Bababatty becomes a pin cushion."

@Elle131 I'm sorry about the flu!  How are you feeling now?

@Orlaa Looks like we're stim buddies!  An enema before ER? I've never heard of that!  It all sounds very "Call the Midwife," if, you know, it were the 1950s and that show was about IVF.  So not really similar at all, except they seem to do a lot of enemas.  Congrats on stimming!

@shaelan and @sparkle0404 Congratulations on your ER and fert reports!

@mcgeeva I'm glad your mock transfer went well.  I was also pleasantly surprised at how easy it was.  After my HSG I told DH that if labor was worse than that we were not having children.  And the SHG was even worse.  FWIW, I've never had a problem at either of my real transfers, so I think you'll go swimmingly there, too.

@roisis I'm glad your ER went well!  Hoping for a good fert report!

@kristimh80 I'm happy to hear your FET consult went well!  Here's hoping the time flies by.  Good choice on the PIO.  The suppositories really are a mess.  Mine was red, too, so that was fun.  Ugh.

@ChristenMA83 You have a great set-up follie-wise!  Good luck with your trigger tonight!  What time?

AFM AF came on Saturday and we started stims last night.  All looked well on my baseline.  It's been 6 months since the last IVF cycle so we had to watch the videos again and I was a hormonal mess, so there was a lot of snapping on my part.  Fun discovery at 9:30pm--NO SYRINGES came with my meds!  I didn't even think of it until I was staring at the menopur needle, like "Hmm, now where am I going to attach this?"  Luckily I had syringes left over from my PIO during my FET, so crisis averted.  My clinic called them into a local pharmacy this morning.  I go back in tomorrow for additional bloodwork.

@ChristenMA83 I didn't ice because we was out and that injection hurt like a mutha... Don't forget to ice!

@Bababatty one of my friends had success here and their success rates are high plus they were more cost efficient for us so it was a no Brainer. The weather is lovely! Nothing like injections lol... Are you icing?

@kristimh80 we can all move over to the PAIF board...

@roisis I will be inserting those pills in my vagina tonight.  I refuse to be sick the morning of my ER.

Woo-hoo I'm up, on the train ride...  Time to rock and roll.  Thank you everyone for the luck. I just realized I only stimmed for 9 days, anyone else went less than 10?

  • Soooo very tough day 2 and 3 of stims—tmi— heavy bleeding with clots... I felt like I was losing my ovaries literally. Thank goodness I had my 1st monitoring appointment today. I thought my cycle would be canceled but Doc said it was normal and should start to diminish in a couple of days... So far 8 measurable follies. My dosage of Follistim was increased. @Bababatty thanks my flu is gone... onto making some babies.
  • @mrsa2017 I'm right with you on 9 days of stims.

@elle131 hope the stims get easier for you.
