@lalala2004 Mine never went totally away! I always thought that was strange.
@jsnakehole I read somewhere that because your skin "sheds" slower when pregnant, that's why you get blackheads. I have a bunch all over my forehead, along my jaw, my nose. My neck is even broken out.
My penance for no m/s and a relatively easy first tri is the fierce introduction of pregnancy headaches! I got them last time, too, and they are a beast.
Anyone notice that their uterus is sensitive to the touch? I don't remember it being so sensitive in my previous pregnancies. When I lean over my daughter's crib, bending over generally, even just pressing on it gently is very uncomfortable.

I don’t know if mines more sensitive then before because a toddler wasn’t head butting me last pregnancy but DS gave me a really hard kiss/head butt yesterday and I cried it hurt so bad. So I’m definitely more sensitive than usual!
Agreed! I've been getting migraines sooooo often. It kills.

Having a toddler makes all the first trimester symptoms so much worse! For me it’s the sore boobs - I barely remember them at all last time but with DS climbing all over and grabbing all over I’m like OUCH! I’m not used to being so manhandled... And let’s not even get into how toddler poops make even mild MS problematic.

Any of you ladies have any product or technique advice for what to do about dry, flaking skin on the face? Seems everyone else is super greasy, and I'm over here looking like a recovering sunburned lizard person.
This is unknown territory for me, as I usually deal with an oily face, and oily skin in general. No amount of lotion seems to be helping, it just covers it temporarily. I don't wear makeup, I don't use soap on my face, and I wear a pretty basic no frills face lotion. I've never stepped foot in a Ulta or Sephora.
Any sort of DIY scrub you like? Or do you get facials? Halp.
@neeraja_k I'm in the same boat. Super simple facial care for me as well, just wash with water and an occasional charcoal mask because the pregnancy acne has been ridiculous. I feel like some of my face is oily but my cheeks and nose are so dry they're flaky, which makes no sense because it's not even cold where I live. Hoping someone has a good recommendation.

Oh my gosh. @legallykate the peeing! All the peeing! I go probably 2-3 times before I go to sleep and then at least once in the middle of the night. And I haven't had anything to drink since dinner. It's comromising my sleep, and I don't like it!
@neeraja_k nothing has worked for me! My pimples are starting to subside except for my dry flaky patch. I booked a facial for this weekend so I am hoping that helps!
Isn't it kind of early to be having to pee all the time? I feel like I've had to go every hour today.
@legallykate no not at all! In the first tri,the uterus grows over the bladder before it pops up out of the pelvic region, around 12 or so weeks, so until then you have pressure on the bladder making you pee more! It gets better second tri but then far worse in third trimester when the baby is dancing all over the bladder. It's the pits!!

@neeraja_k use aquaphor on ur dry spots at night. Works great!
@neeraja_k I also have super-dry flaky sensitive skin (WITH zits, best of both worlds!) I find that exfoliating often is absolutely key. I have a Clarisonic, which I highly recommend because you can use it with a simple/hypoallergenic face wash or even plain water. Otherwise a lot of basic face scrubs can be useful. I like one that neutrogena makes. I’ve also heard of people making homemade scrubs using coconut oil and sugar (but I’ve never done it myself).

I would recommend Theraplex lotion (red stripe bottle) for dry skin on the face. My dermatologist recommended it to me in high school when I had terrible acne as something that would help, but not make my skin greasy. 15 years later and I still use it—you can order it from their website if you google Theraplex.
I FEEL everyone on the headaches, pimples, and exhaustion. Yuck. As for dry skin, I started using a fairly affordable night cream by the natural Acure brand that I buy as Fresh Thyme grocery and has super helped my flakey MN winter skin.
In other symptoms, ALL the hormonal crankiness and rage. All over the place. Mostly directed at my DH who had the idea to question the merits/cost of prenatal yoga. That didn’t go well.
I don't know if anyone is really looking at this thread right now, but anyone had gas pain in the center of their belly, like right where their pubic bone starts? I don't know what this pain is but I can best describe it as weird gas pain? Not severe, just weird. Not worrisome enough for me to feel like calling my doctor.

I gave in last night and tried a product I used to use, but haven't in years, Miracol from Merle Norman. I slathered it on, let it dry, and then did the totally immature thing of scrunching my face every which way to "crack it". Anyway, long story short, it got rid of 95% of my dry flaky skin which was mostly on my forehead, bridge of my nose, and upper cheeks. After I rinsed it off and dried, I applied my usual face lotion. This morning my face looked and felt amazing!
Although a facial sounds kind of fun and somewhat relaxing, although I doubt my little podunk town has anyone that does them. I'll have to ask around. :P
@Firemanswife11 I've had something similar to that every now and then. It's like a pain near my pubic bone/uterus. It made me nervous the first time, but every time it's gone away either on it's own or after I've, ahem, released the gas. The gas/constipation is the worst symptom for me.
Thanks @melbel0824. I am pretty sure that's what it is. When I move, the pain shifts/changes sooo most likely just a bubble of gas or whatever. Trapped for eternity. Haha.
I just have more aches and pains earlier this pregnancy. I think it’s becatse I’m older. I said that to my doctor today and she was nice enough to blame the weather for me
Ughhh these headaches are the worst! I didn’t have them with the boys. And I took Tylenol and it didn’t touch it. I wish I could take ibuprofen! Tylenol sucks.
I hate Tylenol, is there some segment of the population where one pill actually knocks back a headache like one Advil can? Or does everyone have to take 4-6 to touch a normal headache?

Tylenol does NOTHING for me either, I don't even bother. I miss Advil so much this week with what I hope are not headaches that will last all through Second Tri.

@legallykate one of my good friends is due any day and she got terrible headaches this pregnancy. She said The only thing that helped was peppermint oil around the eye on the side of the head that was hurting. Maybe @Firemanswife11 could weigh in? I’ve been curious about peppermint oil during pregnancy because someone recommended it to me for congestion.
@amac12999 peppermint oil I think is fine 2nd tri and some of 3rd but you have to be cautious with it because it can lower your supply of breastmilk. I don't use anything in the first trimester. And FWIW my doctor says 2nd tri is 14 weeks. The best thing I've found for pregnancy headaches is the Excedrine tension headache pills. They are 500mg Tylenol and 65mg of caffeine. If I need even more help, I'll pop 2 Benadryl and pass out. I have had migraines (for 25 years) prior to pregnancy and my doctor will prescribe fioricet if I need, but I'd rather not take that.
I am definitely not a Tylenol fan, however DH brought home a bottle of extra strength rapid release and it's been a life saver with these headaches. I've been taking two and it wiped them out most of the time.
@Firemanswife11 would you apply the oil directly. I did read that peppermint can hurt your supply and that it was okay in 2nd tri & beginning of 3rd but it was just from googling. Some sites suggested mixing it with another oil like coconut oil, so it’s a bit diluted. I really want to get into oils but don’t know where to start.
Regular strength Tylenol works for me most days, but it's short lived. I usually have the headache come back after a few hours. I made a rice pack last pregnancy, so I'll sometimes heat that up and lie down with it on my forehead or behind my neck to help relieve some tension.
@amac12999 no, never use an oil neat. (Undiluted). It works better if mixed with a carrier oil, it's safer, etc. Plus, peppermint is a hot oil and can cause skin reactions especially if not diluted properly. There's a Facebook page called "Safe Essential Oil Recipes" I definitely suggest joining. It's not run by an MLM company. They have aromatherapists on the page who can answer just about any question you have.
I love oils in my diffuser and have rollers that I use on my body. The rollers that I use are already diluted to be safe to put on your body. I have been hesitant about using them with baby on board because I hadn’t found a lot of concrete evidence about safety. My OB said it was fine, but I’ve still been treading carefully. However, sometimes even just smelling the oils has helped me for both nausea and headaches- peppermint is wonderful for that. I have a bracelet that you put a dot of oil on and then I can smell it the rest of the day if need be. They have bracelets and pendants for that purpose, maybe a better option than putting directly on your body.
