Re: Weekend Randoms 1/3-1/4

  • @cseley321 ok I gotcha. Since were making our bed I didn’t think about that being a big purchase like normal people do lol. Hopefully he’ll come around soon!

yes it is real estate! I was a realtor for about 4 months before we moved and then we have 2 rental properties. Then to top it off we moved up a tax bracket, so I don’t think there is any winning this year on taxes. We usually do our own, but we may take them to someone this year to try to get the amount down.

I’m not sure. I don’t have a w-4, so I will ask my husband what he has on his.
  • @zande2016
The "braggy" social media posts are the worst. I just had a Facebook friend of mine post a picture of her son using the potty for the first time. Her son and my son go to the same daycare so we just had a conversation the day before about potty training and when we were planning to start.  I had told her that we were planning to start the next day because my husband and I both had several days off in a row. She acted as if they hadn't really discussed potty training yet (her son is a little younger than my son). Because of that conversation, I can't help but feel like its a "haha" towards me. I really liked this couple before we had kids but after our sons were born, I feel like they are in constant competition with my family. I've unfollowed them on Facebook and plan to keep my distance...I don't have time to deal with obnoxiously competitive moms.
  • @foxbaby2016 do you have anyone on FB doing the elimination communication stuff? I had one person bragging about her BABY using the toilet...like literally they don't use diapers and just move the baby on to the toilet...I'm so confused by it...
  • @kissableviv how does that even work? Sounds like asking for a mess.
  • It's a real thing. I am not familiar with the technique or anything, but if I remember correctly they just learn the general timing of the baby peeing or pooping after eating and use signs or signals to communicate.

I don't think it's super common in the US right now, aside from the super crunchy granola moms
  • Kinda sounds like something my parents did but during the summer. They let us run around nake outside and would rush us to the potty when we showed signs. Too bad it’s still winter and we have carpet so we won’t be trying this. Sometimes DS will signal me when his diaper is bugging him because he wants to be changed but he’s scared of his potty still. Not looking forward to it in general.
  • @cseley321 yup. Super crunchy granola is right . IMO it's crazy, but whatever floats your boat..

  • Elimination communication makes me think of the moms in Namibia and Mongolia on the documentary called Everybody Loves Babies (on Netflix if u want to check out cuteness). Those families don't have any diapers at all and you can see a couple hints at how they handle baby waste. It's fine I think if you're prepared for it, and comfortable with the mess. Obvs babies and moms do this around the world just fine. But it's a weird thing to brag about in our first world culture where we have options available.

    Isabella & Julian & and now #3!
  • @flockofmoosen3 ditto! Yeah it was so super weird. She posted pictures of her holding the baby over the toilet...just too much... And she was all proud of her diaper rash free babies.. whatever!

Ugh my SIL posted pics of my nephew peeing in public spaces because he was “potty training” no just no! He even did it during their wedding in the pool nearby (rented space and was not potty training anymore).
