This is my third pregnancy, but hopefully my first one I'll carry to term. My morning sickness is 24/7 and worse in the morning. I just ordered acupuncture wrist band that should help!
Eating small snacks every couple hours and peppermint tea helped me with my first. I had MS constantly with her. No MS with this one yet, but I’m sure it will show its face here soon.
I’m on my fourth box of saltines and my mouth tastes acidic if I’m not chewing food. I don’t know if it counts as food aversions if you literally don’t want ANYTHING...
Accupressure bands have helped a little, so I’ll keep wearing them, but I have to remember to take them off in front of my MIL because we haven’t told her yet!
The bands are helping me not throw up, but I still end up in tears over the morning sickness almost everyday. Today was a good day, which usually means I'm in for a ride tomorrow! Doc said B6 50mg vitamins can help. So my fingers are crossed.
This post is for everyone to share ideas and experiences on how to deal with morning sickness. Not sure why you would not want people to share those ideas... @Patience7150. If you don’t need this thread then don’t visit it.
Knottie$&@!?/:;):&/$ (whatever) as poster earlier this is perfect for our weekly symptoms thread. Andplusalso what you do for your MS probably won’t work for the next person.
@megnwingate weekly symptoms thread isn’t specific to just morning sickness. I know how frustrating it is to spend every morning feeling like total crap and I wanted to try to help anyone else if I could. But since it looks like the September moms group is full of negative drama I’m going to get off of this community area and you all can keep your drama. I’ll delete any experience I’ve shared so that no one can get anything useful from it.
I’m sorry to see the post was deleted. I found some of the suggestions helpful and am pretty much game for anything these days. Severe nausea + smelly/overcrowded NYC buses don’t mix.
Personally I’m not too keen on dredging through four pages of people taking about sore nipples to find something personally relevant, so I appreciate the speficity of the post. You’ll always encounter a few negative people but I say KOKO
For my own contribution- I’ve tried gingerale, peppermint tea, and Preggie pop drops. So far only the first seems to help, but I’m concerned about sugar overload. Interested in trying b6 next, or maybe even acupuncture.

If I may offer a thought (and I'm cool with getting flamed if you don't like it, I can take it, but I'm really hoping to not get flamed cause I'm just offering a thought in a genuine other side of the coin type way and not trying to argue/be right, and I'm perfectly happy to step down and let it go after this)- while morning sickness is a symptom and I do feel if one wants to show up and complain about it that it fits really well to have that discussion in the symptoms thread. On the flip side, I feel that it could be beneficial, especially to first time moms, to have a specific thread for "Tips and Tricks for dealing with Morning Sickness and Pooping Right." (I put the two together cause usually it's diet changes to the rescue in both cases.) I say all this cause when I was pregnant the first time round I already had a lot of experience with nausea from other causes (so I thought I knew what to do) and I googled the heck out of ways to help with morning sickness and none of it worked for me. It wasn't until another pregnant mom told me what her pregnant friend told her that I found a solution for myself and it freaking saved my butt! I completely agree with the poster who said that what works for one person won't necessarily work for another but at the same time, they could. Ya never know. I'm also right there with the poster who said I hadn't heard of some of these suggestions and it's nice to have some new ideas to look into. So, yeah, that's just what I think about it. Cause to me it is a big deal specific separate symptom that could use a little extra focus. But just ONE extra tips and tricks thread! Not everyone starting their own to say how much morning sickness sucks! Cause, girl. We know. We're all there. Please proceed to the symptoms thread with that.
I am happy to see this thread. I haven't been super active yet (still processing my BFP) but I have been having the worst MS and I was happy to see a place I could turn to for a bit of advice without having to go through all the weekly symptoms!
I have started diclectin but not loving the drowsiness. My MS is not gone either, it still comes in terrible waves and I just feel "hungover" all day long and have no desire to eat or drink anything at all (and usually I love ALL food!). I have heard it takes awhile to build up in your system though and I have only been on it since Wed so fx it starts working soon! This is my second pregnancy and its nothing like my first, this MS is completely different and so much worse. Doesn't help that I have a very active 1 yo to chase after all day.
So far gingerale, sour candy, peppermint etc does not help at all. Ginger tea helps a tiny bit but doesn't last long. I have preggo pops coming this week so we shall see if those help!
Sipping plain kefir works pretty well for me - something about the sourness and the fact that it kind of coats your stomach. Also, sparkling water with lemon
I'm seeing a lot of posters worried about getting the right nutrition when morning sickness has them unable to eat. This was my magic silver bullet last pregnancy-
If the link didn't work, it's a meal replacement drink called Orgain. It comes in several different flavors, chocolate worked the best for me, and it has about a billion different vitamins and all kinds of goodness in it. They are a little pricey, but not bad if you consider it's replacing a meal. One of these with a little bit of whatever solid thing I could eat left me feeling full but not sick and really genuinely helped reduce the nausea. Just remember to get them really cold and shake them very well first. Some of the ingredients settle a bit and it can be a bit clumpy if you get lazy on the shaking. They are also great for when the hunger nausea strikes and you have like 30 seconds to get food in you now or you are gonna barf.
Edit to add: the link I grabbed is for a listing with crappy shipping charges. You can definitely find them cheaper with cheaper or free shipping. I just grabbed a link on the first listing I saw to show the brand.
@sarahmsoda I was told about the anti neasua medication, but also that it made you really drowsy too. I'm already exhausted all the time so I didn't get it. My nausea is so bad I can't even cough without gagging. So this thread is specifically for morning sickness which should be helpful two first timers like me and to others who are specifically struggling with morning sickness. I've tried just about everything and nothing stops the nausea. I am just waiting out this trimester and hoping the next one is easier.
At the time I'm posting this has 1k views, so I'm guessing it's a helpful thread for a lot of mamas! Some of the posts do not pertain to everyone (i.e. I don't have pets but see a number of those). In those cases I just don't read the post and keep it pushing. Morning sickness is a super common pregnancy issue and I can't imagine why folks are up in arms that it would get its own space?
In another group someone posted about Chimes ginger chews. I found them on Amazon and am not sure how much they help but I've given those a try. Even drinking too much water at once has made me nauseous so I keep all kinds of snacks handy and eat/drink at a slow steady pace! I also found that getting a full night of sleep or taking a quick nap will take the edge off of the nausea.
My doctor mentioned there are prescriptions I can try if it's bad but I'm really trying to avoid that if possible! Anyone use them or have any thoughts on which gave them good results? I'd be interested to hear feedback on your experience.
My MS has been way better this time around but last pregnancy I lived on peppermint candies (leftover from Christmas) and ginger chews. This time I stocked up on Ginger People Rescue Chewable Tablets. They're pretty intense. I haven't had the bad MS so I don't know how they'd do in that situation but they do help when the nausea becomes uncomfortable. They look like pills and are just a major dose of ginger meant for your stomach, not your mouth so there isn't much of a taste once you get it down but it does burn the back of your throat so that shows how strong it is. Just throwing it out there in case someone wants to try it.
@Lucky2K13 I've had severe morning sickness with this pregnancy as well as my last pregnancy. I go beyond the regular morning sickness and I've already had to go get IV fluids this pregnancy due to dehydration. I take dicelgis, which is a prescription anti nausea it makes me a little tired, but the alternative for me is not being able to keep anything down at all with the possibility of needing to be admitted to the hospital. I find that it allows me to function, but I still have pretty constant nausea and vomit 1-2 times a day. My OB also talked about putting me on phenergrine, which I've taken before after surgery, but was advised against it during to a pre-existing cardiac condition. I would say don't be afraid of taking the meds if you need them, but if you are getting by without them then, don't take them.
I'm practically living on GinGin hard ginger candies, lemonade, plain PopChips, and popsicles. I am able to eat a normal meal or two during the afternoon/early evening, but damn, mornings and nights are Not Fun. I can't even drink straight water anymore unless I sip it. Fruit juice has been a lifesaver.
I'm having major food aversions. I miss being super hungry and not abhorring the food right after i ate it. No exageration, i havent eaten anything twice for weeks. Every day is a new adventure lol I cant even think of the stuff I've ate without feeling nauseous. It's 7:15 am and just had some jello. That was nice :-D i will have my first OB appt tomorrow and i will ask about my prenatal vitamin (one-a-day brand) because it's a major source of nausea. I take it before bed and my body knows it. Puked Saturday night for the first time. I am so thankful I'm pregnant and want nothing more than to have this baby, but MS sucks! I miss loving food.
Has anyone else experienced diarrhea along with MS? I have the usual nausea, no appetite, and occasional vomiting. My diet consists of crackers, toast, bananas, and plenty of water. It is frustrating to determine if this is normal pregnancy symptoms or a stomach bug.
@srachilagani my pre natal is a huge problem too. It so far hasn't caused the nausea, but its so big it makes me gag which then makes me puke. Ugh. Mostly I'm just trying to make sure I eat a lot of foods that are high in folic acid. Of course that involves actually eating which is also problematic. Especially since I had the stomach flu last week and what I suspect is the actual flu now.
@mocktailmama04 I had what I thought was a stomach bug about 4 weeks ago. I'm still getting occasional bouts of loose stools (not quite diahhrea). Not sure what's what.

@starla how long did those bouts last? Mine has been for the past 3 days. It has been difficult to stay hydrated. I may call the OB tomorrow and see what they think.

I have trouble swallowing large pills. Rainbow Light Minitabs are really working for me. Smaller pills that you can take all at once or spread out. I ordered them on Amazon. Fair warning, they make your pee crazy bright yellow.
@mocktailmama04 I only had it bad for 2-3 days then it eased up. Now it's kind of random. Make sure to drink tons of water or Gatorade!

Been experiencing morning sickness (misnomer for sure) for almost two weeks. It's been rough. I have a lot of the symptoms that all of you are having, no appetite, nausea and not wanting to eat much. I have found a couple of things are helping me. When I'm feeling really nauseous, I make myself eat something and I feel better. Pretzel chips have been a good thing to nibble on.
I'm also finding that ginger helps. Been putting some ginger in a morning smoothie and it provides some relief. Hnag in there ladies, this has been no fun! I'm also struggling to stay hydrated but mainly because it doesn't appeal to drink anything.

I take the regular Rainbow Light prenatals and I've been considering looking into the minis. I have to take my vitamin right after food or it makes me sick so I was thinking 3 smaller vitamins might so easier than the 1 big one. I'd just take 1 with each meal.
But yes to them making you pee bright yellow! Acts as a confirmation that I look it when I can't remember if I did or not!

@DanyTargaryen I take mine split up with meals throughout the day and they haven't made me sick at all. Last pregnancy doing just one big pill or one big dose made me so nauseous that I got to the point I couldn't even look at the pill bottle without gagging. I went ahead and got one of those Sunday-Saturday pill dispenser things so I can just glance in and see if I took my vitamins cause I really can't remember otherwise.
@nackie I was throwing up my prenatals until I switched to the one a day ones. They stink but as long as you don't smell them then it's fine. They're gell like so they go down easier. Hope that helps!
MS tends to wean away before the second trimester so I hope you all can find some relief soon! Mine is weaning and I'm almost ten and half weeks now.
