  • I had my first appointment Friday the 26th at 8 weeks and got my initial bloodwork taken. The office called back today to schedule for complete bloodwork again, and I have to see my Doctor. They don’t usually schedule appointments for the doctor like this. Has anyone else had this happen? Any idea what it could be for? I’m stressing out a bit.
  • I have one 2/2. It's the initial appointment I will be 8+2. The receptionist said it would be a 45 min appointment. Last time I got ultrasounds done at a different office so I'm not sure what could take up so much time
  • 8w1d on Thursday when I’ll have my first appointment. I’ve been on vacation so I haven’t thought too much about it, but i’m starting to get nervous! Just found out my new OB is starting Maternity leave on thursday so I’ll be seeing her NP and won’t even meet her until she gets back from Mat Leave. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I had no issues with my last OB but she’s 20ish min away from me now that we’ve moved (as is the hospital where I delivered) and the new one is 5min down the road (in the same building as my son’s pediatrician). It would be so much more convenient but if I don’t get a good vibe at this first appt I’ll switch back to my old practice.

My office does an OB physical appointment during first tri, complete with pap. Could it be for something like that?

  • @BusinessWife - Don't let the big babies comments worry you! MH and his brother were both 9.5-10 lbs. My 3 brothers were over 9lbs, and even I was 6-something born a month early. DS was under 8lbs at birth, and I went overdue with him. So absolutely no correlation in my situation!

What is the appointment (betas, confirmation, ultrasound, etc)?
Ultrasound tomorrow!! finally!! Then follow up with OB on Friday since I opted for an imaging center over my doctor’s rinky dink set up.
Do you have any specific concerns?
normal PGAL concerns. Plus my MIL (babysitter) has an appointment at the same time so DD2 will be coming with us and if things don’t go well that will make it even harder.

  • @chelletn , sorry you had a rough visit. I'm right there with you...
I am now left not knowing my EDD....but go back for more blood Thursday, and repeat u/s Friday. Hopefully by then, we will have more answers.
In the meantime, the flu has hit our house. I need a respirator....or a bubble so I don't catch it.
  • @bmxerbaby sounds like we are both in limbo right now - it's not a fun place to be!  I'm hoping you have a great ultrasound Friday!!

  • What is your EDD/ how far along are you?
I'll be 6 +2 Thursday for my first apt. Assuming all goes well I think I then have another apt. two weeks after that.

What is the appointment (betas, confirmation, ultrasound, etc)?
First apt with all the paperwork and questions, and ultrasound to make sure things look okay. They usually do 8 weeks but considering loss history the lovely lady was like, sure let's put you early! It'll give you peace of mind!.....LOVE my Dr office.

Do you have any specific concerns?
Just the usual nervousness that something goes wrong.

  • What is your EDD/ how far along are you?
    9/20- 6+4
What is the appointment (betas, confirmation, ultrasound, etc)?
Follow up ultrasound with the RE to make sure everything is still okay, and then I graduate to my OB. I actually have that appointment scheduled already for next week.
Do you have any specific concerns?
my RE has basically said no working out, which has sucked. So hopefully my OB will give me some specifics that I can do.
  • Sending you all the good vibes @episcowitch !!!!!!!

I will be 7 weeks on Thursday (day of my appt)

What is the appointment (betas, confirmation, ultrasound, etc)?
It's for a dating ultrasound so they can confirm my EDD. I'm not a fan of having them before 8 weeks, but oh well.

Do you have any specific concerns?

my appointment today did not go well. why do radiologists all seem to have such horrible bedside manner? Ultrasound has me measuring 2 weeks behind, I was expecting 1 week based on ovulation but 2 seems like too many especially with BFP on 1/2.

“Abnormally large yolk sack”, too small fetal pole, HB 60-90 when it should be 110. “You have a lot of red flags which makes this a high risk for spontaneous abortion, fetal demise”...seriously, wtf? Is there not a nicer way to break this kind of news?

So I get to meet with my OB on Friday to see what’s next.

  • @mamakate1616 I'm so sorry you had a bad appointment. I had a tough one too.  Hopefully your OB appointment will go better.
  • @mamakate1616 I’m sorry for a not great ultrasound and terrible bedside manner. Hoping things turn around.
  • I'm sorry @mamakate1616, that sounds extremely unpleasant to experience. I also hope things turn around, and that you have better experiences going forward.
  • I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you on Friday @mamakate1616

  • @mamakate1616 So sorry to hear about your rotten appointment. Seems very unprofessional of them. Holding for the best for you.

  • Thanks ladies. I mean I’m sure it’s policy to use medical terms, they are just such ugly sad words.

  • @mamakate1616 I’m sorry your appointment did not go well. Radiologist are scientist who typically sit in a room and stare at pictures all day (I realize that’s not ALL they do). Many of them have very little face to face time with patients so they just don’t have that bedside manner practice. Hoping your OB appointment goes well Friday.

@chelletn fingers crossed and lots of prayers for your appointment tomorrow. Hopefully the ultrasound goes absolutely fantastic.
  • Thank you so much @klj0228 <3
  • EDD/ how far along --
Please see ticker, lol (6wks +)

What is the appointment (betas, confirmation, ultrasound, etc)?
FIFTH hCG check today, and ULTRASOUND!!!!! Please say lots of prayers at 12:30 EST.

Do you have any specific concerns?
Fo sho. My hCG #s are low, but growing steadily. My progesterone has also been low (Dr hasn't supplemented yet). Have had some brown discharge over the past 24 hrs but only when I wipe. Low level cramping. Have had MC before, but it's been a while (this is first pregnancy in 8 years, and am 38). I also have high blood pressure, thyroid issues, IBD, PKD... so a lot could be going on in that area of my little body (I'm 5'2").

@mamakate1616 thinking of you and sending you lots of good juju! I have had similar bad times with my OB lately -- every time she calls with test results she wants to talk about methotrexate, "just in case". I'm like lady chill we haven't even had an US yet. SMH. They definitely forget that we're people sometimes! Hope your appt is good news! FX!!

OH and @Jyoung327 I'm sending you lots of good juju too! FX!! I have an US in about 45 min! AAAAHHHHHHH!

  • @wkuandrea fingers crossed for a very clear and healthy US today.
  • Update: I had my appointment this morning and I guess you guys are going to be stuck with my organizational habits a little longer...saw a heartbeat! Uterus was too flipped to get a good measurement, but a flicker is a flicker and everything looked good.
A flicker is a flicker! Whoohoo!

  • @Jyoung327 congrats on the good news! So glad everything is on track
