@hezzer78 If it were me I'd probably listen to the most conservative recommendation, at least assuming you trust the high risk doc and he or she has aan explanation for making that recommendation.

We aren't announcing this one. At least not until we can't avoid it. I'm hoping to surprise my little sis, who is on a mission until Aug. 1 or 2, with a new baby no one knew about to ruin her surprise. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I can dream that everyone will buy the 'I'm just fat, leave me alone' statements, right?

@hezzer78 are your high risk doc and RE in the same practice? I would tell them I’m confused with the conflicting recommendations and ask them to clarify together.
@mrsbubbles-2 No different practices - but they recommend one another. When I see my high risk doc next Thurs I'll ask him to clarify and tell him I got different information. I'm tempted to go with what my RE says because she's the one doing the procedure, but I'll still check. Maybe the high risk doc said no belly dancing because he thinks its higher impact than it really is???
@hezzer78 that’s awesome that you’re seeing your high risk so soon! My OB tends to defer to my high risk doc for everything so hopefully yours will come to a consensus and provide some clarification!
Anybody have a UTI this pregnancy? I've been having the urge to pee a ton today (as usual), but not much is coming out when I do pee. It doesn't hurt, but I'm a little concerned it's a UTI. Could it be the uterus putting pressure on the bladder? I'm 11 weeks.

It’s possible it could be a UTI. Your doctor can perform a simple test to check. You can also buy an OTC test to check, I believe.
@Funnygirl34 I would get it checked out because last time I was pregnant and had a UTI I didn’t have pain (which I’m used to burning when I have them) all I felt was the urge to per even after peeing.

Yes. Twice. But I have kidney disease and a bent urethra. So. I am horribly Prone to them. Agh. Strangely, my only symptom ever, is a intense smell to my urine. I never have spasms or anything.
On a different note, yes, some days I pee 27x for no real reason. Even without a UTI.
Definitely call the doc. Get tested. Better to be safe.

I'm having the exact same issue. 12 weeks today. They already told me I had a UTI after my appointment at 8 weeks and I didn't even have any symptoms then. So I assumed it all cleared after taking antibiotics but now I'm worried it either didn't clear or I have a new UTI. My next appointment isn't for another 4 weeks so I'm going to see if I can stop by tomorrow after my ultrasound appointment. Such a pain! I really want to pretend everything is ok but I'm not going to risk it. Better to be safe. If it's not a UTI, this is super sucky I have to pee this much already in the first trimester.
@hezzer78 go with the recs from the one placing the cerclage. My OB way over panicked, and had me on bed rest. As soon as the MFM was on rotation and I came in with ptl at 34/35w he removed the stitch, sent me back home(I had to move in with my parents to be closer to the better NICU), and took me off bedrest. He also sent a ‘nice’ note in my records to my OB practice letting them know they seriously overstepped by not having him weigh in on what needed to happen after he released me. I was taken 100% as a regular patient from there out. E stayed cooking until 38w1day with cerclage our at 35w1d. I originally had the emergency cerclage placed at 22w for a short cervix of 1.4cm in length.

@juliebird6 I've been taking it for a couple of weeks now, and it's great! I wasn't having much success with Diclegis, but the Reglan has done wonders. I've just stopped taking it the last couple of days, but I like that I can take it every 8 hours and it works quickly. I still have it near by if I need it. It works by speeding up the digestive process that pregnancy slows down.

@juliebird6 I was on reglan last time. I honestly forget why but it helps something besides nausea too lol. Maybe it was when I was getting really bad headaches? I’m so bad that I don’t even remember why I was on it haha
Are pregnancy nosebleeds a thing? I’ve been having bloody boogers in one nostril for a couple days but not running blood. I don’t know what to make of it. (Maybe tmi)
August '18 March Siggy Challenge - You had ONE JOB
@hardlyhannah absolutely nosebleeds are a pregnancy symptom. All the extra blood flowing can make your Nasal membranes to swell and random nosebleeds can occur. This happened to me frequently my previous pregnancy. It was definitely full on running blood for me so you may just be extra dry from the winter. Do you run a humidifier, especially at night?
My question is why is it so easy to fall asleep during the day to take a nap, but impossible to fall asleep at night. My melatonin is calling my name, but it has “botanical blends” in it as well so I’m assuming it’s not baby safe. So much ugh. So tired but can’t fall asleep for the life of me.
@cthulu@ladygali I am not having trouble falling asleeping but I wake up a bunch. I have no idea why- I’m def super tired. Once a night it’s too pee but I seem to be sleeping really lightly
+1 fot the nosebleeds @hardlyhannah. Mines not dripping blood, but I’m congested and when I blow my nose it’s a mix of blood and snot. Sorry. I know that’s gross.
Has anyone here used a doula in the past? We had one with DD because I wanted a natural childbirth. It didn't work out and I ended up with an epidural. This time, I don't feel strongly about having a natural childbirth at all. In fact, I am going into this expecting that I will get an epidural right from the start, unless labor progresses really rapidly (which from my first experience, I am 100% not expecting to happen).
Anyway, DH is pushing for us to use the same doula so that he isn't the lone support person in the room. My mom was with us last time, but she will have DD when this one is delivered. I feel weird about hiring a doula when I'm preparing to have an epidural from the start. Any thoughts on this? We could maybe have someone else stay with DD so that my mom can be with us again, but she's really the only person that I would feel comfortable leaving DD with overnight.
@cthulu , I believe you can have 3mg of melatonin during prgnancy. Don't quote me on that... But I'm pretty sure that's what my OB told me during my last pregnancy. The fatigue coupled with insomnia is the absolute worst!
I haven’t used a doula before, but I’m considering one for this pregnancy. I had an unmedicated birth at a birth center with my last, but this time have to deliver in a hospital without a bathtub or nitrous oxide, which are all that got me through the last labor. I don’t want an epidural (and I hear the second labor and birth go more quickly than the first) but I don’t trust myself knowing that one would be available. Also DH needs someone to show him how to be supportive as he was pretty overwhelmed with the last birth and didn’t know how to help—I just wanted someone to squeeze my hips and rub my back. Finally, I see midwives and if there’s a birth center mom also in labor, they’d go with her to deliver rather than to the hospital with me, so I’m just all around a ball of nerves. I’d love to hear from moms who have used one in the past and what their experience was.

I used a doula for DD birth in 2016. I had an unmedicated birth and she was invaluable! From my understanding, your doula is mainly there for support in pain management techniques, but to also be your advocate. You may not need pain management techniques this time around, but she can also be there to make sure your birth plan is being followed and to be your advocate. I don't think you can go wrong with having a doula present even though it may seem unnecessary with a planned epidural
@juliebird6 I had a doula with DS. I really wanted to labor at home for as long as possible. But nothing ever goes as planned right? I ended up being induced at 41w. My doula was still amazing and was at the hospital with us for 12+ hours. I did end up getting the epidural at about 21 hours into labor because she told me if I didn't I was likely looking at a C-section because I would be unable to push by the time it was time. I probably would have resisted the epidural even longer if it wasn't for her level headed decision making. My labor was about 30 hours total, including 2.5 hours of pushing.
I mentioned this somewhere else, but she also took amazing photos that I'm so glad we have. And I really don't think DH could have done it without her. He commented later that he didn't know he would be "so involved" and I was glad she was there to help him know what to do. And I would have paid the entire cost of her services for the magical glass of apple/cranberry juice that she brought me as soon as baby was out. That was the best drink ever.
Right now we don't plan on using her again but I would absolutely recommend it to any FTM! Going in to round 2, I feel like we have a better idea what to expect. And hopefully, please, seriously, I can't have to go through that whole long induction again right? Second one is coming out faster please?
@proudparent2b I’m sorry you are still so nauseous! I’m at 10 weeks and my nausea is more intense this week *sigh* is there a reason your OB isn’t prescribing you anything now? Or at least throwing some samples your way? I had to have an in office consult with mine because I have a nursling, but I was prescribed something right away with nausea that comes and goes. They weren’t comfortable prescribing over the phone since I still nurse my toddler, which I found strange. It is nice to have something to take the edge off though. I hope you are able to find some relief soon!!!!
@livinthesunnylife Ha, our experiences sound pretty similar. If DH wasn't so worried about being the lone support person, I wouldn't hire her again because I personally don't think I need her, but I'm wondering if it's worth the money just to alleviate his fears. She also did give us a nice write up of our birth story and a CD of pictures too (which like you, I said I didn't want but she did a, so that might be nice to have again.
@juliebird6 I think it’s good to have an extra person. I didn’t really “need” my doula much, but it was nice to have someone who could get DH food so he wouldn’t have to leave me, take pictures, and just have a neutral person in my corner. A doula is there to respect your wishes and help you with whatever your plan is, and if that’s to have an epidural, they will support you in that.
@livinthesunnylife I’m an odd duck but I’ve been induced the last three times. Always going over. Most people don’t have 4 girls and 4 inductions. But I’m special. Hahaha. I hope your body kickstarts itself this time.
So what’s the best way of going about finding a doula? I’m vaguely toying with the idea, especially because I really want to have an I medicated birth this time and I want support, DH says “well just don’t get the epidural so” and that’s not quite the support I’m talking about.
@juliebird6 I am considering the same options. We had a Doula last time but once I got the epidural (which didn't work as great as everyone said) she checked out. She was literally playing on her phone all night.
We are considering hiring a different Doula because I would like to go as long as I can this time without an epidural. But I'm not opposed to it like I was last time. But DH was literally an amazing support to me during labor last time so I don't know if we really need it. We took Bradley birth classes last time and it helped DH so much. I recommend them if anyone is considering unmedicated.
@ecwk are you in any local mom groups? That is where I usually start my search. Or you might be able to ask your Dr/Midwife too. I think too you want to meet a couple and just go with your gut instinct.

I recommend doing your research, get recommendations from other moms in your area and Interview a ton of them. We were lazy and didn’t Interview enough and ended up not jiving with ours so it was a waste of money

Seconding the idea to get recommendations from ladies in your area. We have a local women's networking group on Facebook and I search there first for literally everything. That said, I actually found out about our doula network at Babies R Us! They had a little card/advertisement at the registry counter, and they offered a few "meet the doula" sessions so DH and I went to one of those.
