WTF co-worker. The woman i'm training to fill in while i'm leave just makes me
She isn't the brightest with computers which hey not everyone is. But man she just does not pay attention very well. She just does what she thinks is right. Then when things are wrong she thinks it's something else's fault and not her own in not following the directions. I do a lot of things excel and use a ton of different formulas (most of them go way over her head) but I have put a lot of them already in all she has to do is copy them down through all the data. She is struggling so hard with that, and I know this isn't her thing but man it's KILLING ME. I gave her really good step by step notes and told her get the process down and make sure everything adds up right, but she gets so distracted and forgets where she stopped at and she needs to stay focused.
@Dumbgurl04 I feel you. I end up being the go-to person at work for "how do I" questions about word and excel and ppt at work and sometimes I just want to tell them to google!
My WTF was I was REALLY CLOSE to finding a preceptor for my last rotation. The lead dietitian of a dialysis region was really positive and receptive, but when she called her clinics looking for someone to take me, they all refused to do longer than 1 day. I know it's extra work but come on people! I've been cold-calling dietitians for over a month now trying to get this 4 week rotation sorted out.
@peppersmith22 same here. They also ask me for IT help and I just tell them I google the answer and they seem all amazed like I performed some kind of voodoo magic.
@Dumbgurl04 Right? Like to be honest I thought most of the skills I have on the computer were sort of standard now but some people are really impressed by the simplest things
@peppersmith22 right! MH's degree is in computer science and he works in that field. He laughs so much when I tell him they think of me as some computer expert because to him I'm nowhere close.
@Dumbgurl04@peppersmith22 I once had an elderly customer send me repeated angry emails ranting that he was not a “member” of Adobe and did not have the “login credentials” to open the pdf I was sending him. I nicely suggested he ask his grandchildren to help him lol
Had to drop my car off before work to have a noise checked out. The guy who helped me ‘check in’ is a moron, who has made my appointments under my old last name a few times and then I don’t have an appointment. FWIW - I give him the correct name, no clue where he had to look to find old name. Then he has to ride with me to work and drive my car back to the shop The win here was that they followed up with the dealership and it’s a warranty fix, so free (other than my time).
At work, we went from zero patients with influenza Monday to 4 (and counting) today. I have been very tired and inexplicable muscle aches since Monday, so called OB, who wanted me tested. Everyone at work was worried about me going to urgent care, so they called around the hospital, and found the ‘safest’ place for me to go. OB nurse was supposed to fax in the order, and after an hour and a half in that waiting room, I finally got called back. The tech didn’t know where swabs were stored or how to swab for influenza. Lordy! At least I came back negative for both A & B.
@Dumbgurl04 and @peppersmith22 I recently had to watch an admin search for something on Bing which would have taken me 5 seconds to find on google (I think it was an iPad hdmi adapter) but took her 30 mins (!) bc who the f uses bing really?! It was like a slow mo movie; I couldn’t leave or help but didn’t want to be there.
i surprisingly don’t have a wtf for today so I’m living vicariously through y’all

Omg my work computer is set to Bing, and it swallows a little piece of my soul every time I use it.
Sigh, MIL decided to spend 1.5 hours with my husband on the phone adding crap to our registry because we "didn't have enough". WTF...DH told her he wasn't involved with the registry, but she went to town. I now have a bunch of noisy toys that I don't want and oh, because we are having twins....double it. I'm pissed. She means well, but she went about it the wrong way.
@knuttyplus2 why did she feel the need to have things added to your registry? She can buy whatever she wants it doesn't have to be on the registry. I'm pretty sure my mom and MIL bought a bunch of things and not even half of it was on my registry. Plus you won't need noisy toys for a little bit until the babies get more active.
@knuttyplus2 that would make me twitch. Does she have access to your registry to add to it herself? Or did she make your H log in and do it while on the phone with her? If it’s the former I’d be changing the password. At the end of the day, they are your babies and it’s your registry. If you don’t want some of that stuff on there then delete it, no need to tell her. Especially since you are having twins, I’d keep the registry to mostly the stuff you really need since you will need doubles of some stuff, and keep the extras to a minimum, so you don’t end up with a bunch of 6-month plus toys and not enough newborn basics. Maybe talk to your H about setting some boundaries around this stuff with MIL?
@peppersmith22 That's really frustrating about your preceptorship.. Granted, it could be more work for them but also I have to imagine it's nice to have someone else to help out with tasks.. Hope you get it sorted out soon! @Puddlewonderful I just love older adults. My MIL just turned 60 (so not elderly by any means) but she always asks for computer advice. She maxed out on the number of bookmarks she could have on her web browser because she was afraid she was going to lose the websites/articles she might want to reference. She probably has 300+.. I doubt she'd even be able to find the one she needs if she even had to reference it. @g_amoss So glad you were negative for influenza!
@knuttyplus2 I'd go back in and delete them! People can buy things that aren't on the registry if they so choose... I usually buy one thing off the registry and then maybe something else if I think it's adorable! You can always return those noisy toys after the shower Although I have to say that having at least one toy that plays some kind of music for in the car was really helpful for us during our long commutes to daycare!
@dan0081 It is a lot of extra work for the preceptor! I had to find preceptors for three 8 week rotations already and those didn't take nearly as long as the 4 week one haha so I guess it depends on the person.
Wtf Thursday...sitting in the crappy labcorp after drinking my glucose drink and every time someone walks in the waiting room gets treated to another gust of 20 degree air...I should not have to be freezing cold on top of being all sugared up!!!
WTF for the week....why do I feel like I'm back in the first trimester? I am soooooo tired with zero energy. I just got over the flu, so I'm hoping its just my body recuperating. I know you get sluggish again in 3rd tri, but I was hoping it wouldn't be as soon as I hit 3rd tri. I still have so much baby prep still to do, but all I do is go home after work and sleep. My house is suffering.
My WTF today belongs to insomnia. I thought I had kicked it, and had spent the last two weeks recovering with blissful full nights of sleep. Then last night it hit again hard and I maybe got 2 hours of sleep. Aaaaaaaaaaargh.
Same @ngolimento although I still blame the damn radiators
i did have a wtf on the way to work- drove 40 mins in bumper to bumper traffic with the person behind me honking at every stop. Literally. And she was texting. I used it as an opportunity to practice “the breath” but really.... like at every intersection that is grid locked. How is beeping supposed to help? There’s a reason why MA was found to be #7 worst states to drive in
@Dumbgurl04 MIL is hosting a shower and didn't feel we had enough on our registry for guests to choose from. Whatever...there was plenty and various price ranges. She convinced DH to add the stuff...he knows I'm upset. I've been a bit moody lately, so I am trying to cool off before I overeact. DH said I can remove items but to let him know so he can write it down since he worked so hard on the research and we may want it later. Sigh, I may go the return option!!
@knuttyplus2 like @peppersmith22 said people usually buy something off your registry and then might buy something they like. I know I got a ton of things I didn't register for. I think your MIL needs to relax.

@ngolimento Noooooooo. Hopefully last night was just a fluke and tonight is better!
