Hey ladies. I have been lurking for a few days and reading everyone's stories. I'm sorry to see so many losses. I'm finally ready to accept that this may be a long journey, so I'm hopping on with an intro.
I had a chemical pregnancy in early November. It was sad, but early, and my body took care of everything, so we moved on quickly. We got pregnant again on the next cycle and thought things were going fine...until the dating u/s at 6.5 weeks. The tiny fetus was only measuring at 5 weeks, and the tech said that it could be normal if my dates were off, and to come back in two weeks. As much as I wanted to have hope, I have been temping and charting for months, so I knew my dates were right. Sure enough, two weeks later, we went back and found that the baby had stopped growing completely about a week after the first u/s. We decided to have an MVA (D&C when you're awake), but had to wait a week for an appointment. That was awful; going to work and trying to act like everything was normal. That was last Thursday, and I'm going back to work tomorrow. I'm extremely nervous about TTC again, but I'm 40, so we don't exactly have a lot of time. Through a lot of reading, it seems that with age, it isn't necessarily harder to get pregnant, but harder to stay pregnant. For me that almost seems harder...to get that BFP and then live in fear for months until you're past the first trimester.
Anyway, I look forward to chatting with you ladies and hope to read some good news soon
Re: New here :(
It's definitely hard getting back into TTC after a loss, so take some extra time if you need it. I think regardless of age, once you've had a loss, it's always going to be in the back of your mind when you do get pregnant again. Hopefully you won't be here for long, though, and you'll go on to have a healthy pregnancy.

@tosh24 and @40momma Yep, I'm Canadian! Funny how Gord is such an iconic figure
I just went through my OHIP funded IVF cycle and have 10 embryos frozen! We are so lucky to have the opportunity to use IVF without going into financial ruin. It wouldn't have been an option for us otherwise.

@tosh24 Thanks for the links! I had no idea the wait list are so long, eek!
@ccvslp I don't know how Americans do it if they don't have private insurance. I think having a family is a right that should be offered to everyone. Our maternity leave is pretty amazing too. I really hope the US gets on board soon!
I've totally hijacked your thread, though @bakerstreetboys ... I'm sorry!!! I hope you get into a great RE and have a nice path forward or maybe even just end up KU all happy and healthy before then and don't even need it!
i saw an HSG at my re clinic is $700!! What?! There's no way we would have gotten it done so thank god the OB coded it as such and we only paid $70.
