We'll be married 10 yrs this April. And been in this house 8yrs. We've had a basket of wedding pics and empty photo albums sitting in a corner for that long also.
i never wanted to do it cause I didn't want to sort the pics. I finally pulled it out today. And started throwing pics in... all so random. Half mixed up. But whatever.
also. Can't believe I got married in a time when DISPOSABLE cameras on each table was a thing. When hashtag signs are the thing now.

@hjungk84 I am SO jealous! Enjoy your solo pampering!
Cleaning the house for DD's one year pictures! We rescheduled 3 times since she was so sick- I thought she's be 2 before we got them done. We are also going out tonight- date nights are so much more infrequent with DD and I'm sure will be even more infrequent once DS is born.
One of my coworkers from my past job asked me to go to the Christmas party that I planned most of before I left. I need a cute cocktail type dress but don’t know where to start and I don’t want it to break the bank. Like $40 and under. Any of you have any recommendations? Oh yeah, and it’s Saturday.

@PatientlyWaiting10 Rent the Runway. You can order 2 sizes and see pics of the dress on real women before ordering. Or the sale rack at White House Black Market, Nordstrom Rack or Neiman Marcus Last Call.
ETA: Rent the Runway has maternity and maternity friendly styles. At the other stores you could maybe find an empire waist or sheath style that works with your bump.
We are in a binge watching lull... just finished Episodes on Netflix and now we are wandering aimlessly for our evening entertainment. Suggestions on anything new and good?
@sunshineandwhiskey my student loans are astronomical. I have two at 2-2.5% interest, done in 2021, which is great, but then I have two that are more like 6-7% interest and those don’t end until 2035 so I’ll be paying them forever. I think I’m going to refinance the two with higher interest rates and reduce the term to 5 years, which will mean doubling our monthly payment on those. Also I don’t really have any income since I quit to go back to school/am just starting my freelance business, so DH has to be a co-signer on the refinance. Which is fine, I guess, but I think as is if I die, he isn’t responsible, but if he’s a co-signer he would be. I don’t know. Decisions decisions.
@doxiemoxie212 oh gotcha! Yeah those two with the 6-7% rate seem ridiculous. I mean, in general, it’s just so crazy how student loans work and then the payback terms always suck. That’s def a tough decision with him having to co sign. I made sure DH wasn’t included in any loans, student or car, for the same reason. FX you can figure it out! There are a bazillion options out there haha

I’m in New Orleans for DH’s grandma’s 75th birthday party. Hoping I can hang... the party ends at 1am. I had a nap, but haven’t stayed up pass 11 since my BFP. but my feet have been swollen all day since traveling yesterday. I have a dressy dress I’m excited to wear & show off the bump. I’m afraid I maybe over dressed but hey I’m pregnant so whatever makes me feel good right. I’ve attached a pic of the dress from amazon. Only $26.
At SO's alma mater's hockey game. Having a lot of lower back pain lately. Calling for freezing rain tomorrow so I want to curl up and spend the day nursery planning and brainstorming baby names. Had a boy name picked out but picking a girl name has been tough!
@ffw0617 wow!! That’s a really pretty dress! And only $26?!? Have fun!!!

It’s 30 below and snowy here today so it’s always a challenge to dress cute. I’m doing it tonight though! I might even curl my hair haha
Well we revealed to DD tonight. I don’t know if it’s my hormones or what but I watch the video and cry because I can see and hear her disappointment when she sees it’s a boy. I think she’s been pretty set on it being a girl so she was really surprised it was a boy. I know a healthy baby is most important and she does too, im just struggling tonight.

Last night was so rough. I created two budget spreadsheets - one for NYC (where we are now) and one for the bay area (where we want to move) - and it would cost approx $2-3k more each month to live in the bay area (if we stayed under a 90 min each way commute for DH, which I think reasonably we need to) than it costs to live here, and it would be in the same type of apt: 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. DH lost it. He was inconsolable. When we first started talking about moving to California, there were cheaper options, but the prices have just continued to go up so dramatically in the bay area in the last year. He feels like he took the CA bar for no reason and now there's no hope for him to ever be happy, or something. He agreed to the therapist a couple weeks ago, but he won't call to make the appointment, and now it's exacerbated because he feels like any money we spend means CA is even more unrealistic, and the therapist is $300/hour. Siiiiiiigh. /endrant
@doxiemoxie212 that's hard. did you call insurance and find out about covered therapy? I hope dh will take some initiative and see someone. It's important that he take care of his mental health for you and the baby.
@PatientlyWaiting10 That's so hard, but you're right - she'll come around and love that baby boy to pieces. If it helps at all, you can tell her I said little sisters are the worst and she dodged a bullet
@catlady1215 Yum, rice krispie treats. At Trader Joe's yesterday I saw they had a brown rice version...very narrowly escaped my cart.
@doxiemoxie212 I'm sorry, for you and YH both. It's so disheartening when you feel like you have to make a choice between living where you want to be and living the kind of life you'd hoped to live. Especially when you put the time and money into school and effort and hours into your job that I imagine YH has. I don't have any solutions, but please keep encouraging him to try the therapist. If nothing else, having to budget around the extra expense now will make it that much easier to transition to your bay area budget when the time comes, and when sunshine can be his new, free therapy Keep playing with the budgets, and keep hopeful.
@doxiemoxie212 I'm so sorry, that is the definition of being between a rock and a hard place. I have friends who moved from the Bay Area to Colorado due to cost of living, but if it where your hearts are then testing out the new budget like @emiliadkay might be a good idea. Time and money spent on personal wellbeing is never wasted or a setback. Having the cold reality of the situation hit full force is overwhelming, but much better to face this now rather than packing up and moving without having done the math (which someone I knew did once... it did not turn out well).
@doxiemoxie212 That’s tough. The Bay Area is horrendously expensive right now though...how about suggesting moving to a less expensive part of CA and working toward the Bay Area if that’s the goal? I know in the tech industry, many many companies, especially independent companies are exiting the Bay Area and moving north to Washington because the cost of living is so much lower (though also rising rapidly). maybe the dream has a few more stops along the way than he anticipated, but it’s still attainable.
Best of luck. It’s hard to have a goal that seems unattainable or so far out of reach.
@ffw0617 your dress is super cute and you look great in it!!
Yesterday was my first time dressing up my bump and I loved it. I got a lot of attention and had my first unsolicited belly touch (drunk coworkers haha) Im 5ft10 and im a FTM so the bump is still small but definitely getting bigger and noticeable now, even if I try and hide it haha
@doxiemoxie212 I’m sorry you’re H is freaking out more about money now. Finances are so stressful. Hopefully he’ll make an appt to speak with the therapist.
We we went and looked at minivans today. I want one more now but DH is still against it. I get that vans aren’t cool but the practically is worth it to me.
Friday/Saturday night there was a helicopter crash here, and DH was the one who saw it and called it in. It's pretty awful all around. He's pretty upset about it. Thankfully they're sending him to grief counseling but it's gonna be hard for him, maybe forever. Prayers/good thoughts for the families would be appreciated.
@doxiemoxie212 ugh that's so rough! I'm sorry YH is struggling so much with it. I definitely understand the struggles of wanting your spouse to go to therapy and them not being very invested in it. It's a difficult subject in my house as well. And to mirror what @helenbz said, could you maybe look at other areas in CA since he already passed the bar for that state? I know southern california is still a hike from your family up north, but the cost of living is quite a bit cheaper, and probably cheaper than NYC too depending on where you live.
AFM, some of you may know that I've been struggling a lot recently and MH has been in a rough spot. Well, next week I got 4 days off in a row (January is a super slow month and my hours tend to drop to make up for all the overtime worked during the holidays) and he surprised me with plans to go to Vegas for a mini babymoon. I've never been to Vegas so it should be a lot of fun. We've got some shows lined up and will probably just walk around the strip a bunch. It'll definitely be nice to take a break from our lives for a little while.
