Trouble TTC

TTTC Checkin: 01/16/2018

I thought we could use a fresh start for the check in, I hope no one minds!

Congratulations for any BFP's and hugs to anyone who needs one.

Welcome to all of our newbies, I hope your stay is short and sweet!

Thank you so much for the kind words, everyone.  The board is always an inspiration for me, it's a pleasure to keep it going.

Re: TTTC Checkin: 01/16/2018

  • Hi all! Thanks @Worldtravler0522 for getting a new thread started!

@funkykey I figured I’d respond on the new thread—OMG yes, it’s so frustrating and unfair that a few days here or there difference in AF throws off an entire treatment plan. And doubly frustrating because I believe we both have regular cycles so it’s like WTF, body? You had ONE job!

When do you leave on vacation??

    Update for me:
It turns out it wouldn’t have mattered if AF had been on time anyway because I’m lucky enough to have insurance coverage for meds BUT the company wants Day 2/3 bloodwork before they’ll grant the authorization. So IVF would have been delayed no matter what. I’m glad I found that out today (Day 2) so I can go in tomorrow. I probably would have flipped out if that pushed it to March. I don’t understand why they can’t just take any one of the many previous Day 2/3 bloodwork I’ve had, but whatever. It’s not a problem as we caught it in time.
  • CD9. My boobs hurt for some reason. I had a fairly uneventful period, and I don't feel like going through the emotional rollercoaster of a pregnancy test. No other symptoms. Just the boobs.

QOTW: Traveling. :) Hopefully the UK trip pans out.

  • @Worldtravler0522 Yes, thank you for starting a new thread.

@ funkykey Sorry your cycle is delayed. Book AF.
@Bababatty that's fantastic that you get IVF coverage!
    @soehlerk Sorry you're having a hard time.

AFM....just waiting uuntil next weekk Wed for my blood test. Unfortunately the lab told me today that our other 2 embryos weren't viable for freezing so all of our hopes are on our 1 perfect embryo we transplanted. I just keep telling myself the one was all we needed and this is it. I will admit, I am finding it difficult today to stay positive without having that backup. My mantra from here on out is "stick baby stick"

QOTW: We are supposed to be going to Hawaii in April. DH and I have never been so that will be great.
    Me:33, DH:38 Married: 8/2/2014
    TTC #1 Since: April 2015

Cycle 7: Letrozole 5mg, Cyst found during follicle check
Cycle 8: Birth control to treat left ovary cyst
    Cycle 9: Letrozole 7.5mg+Trigger shot+IUI+Progesterone- BFN
Cycle 10: Letrozole 7.5mg, 2 Cysts found during follicle check
    Cycle 11: Clomid 100mg+Estradiol+Trigger shot+IUI+Progesterone- BFN
    Cycle 12: Clomid 100mg- BFN
Cycle 13-16: Natural attempts while awaiting IVF
    Cycle 14: IVF-BFN

  • No problem, I kind of thought it was time to start fresh!

@hoffmanr7 I'm so sorry to hear your other embryos weren't viable for freezing but I'm holding out hope the one you had transferred is all you need!  Sending lots of sticky thoughts and prayers your direction!! Also super jealous of Hawaii, I've never been but I've heard great things.

@soehlerk sorry to hear today is a rough day.  Being at a crossroads is tough because you second guess every decision you make.  Give yourself some time and you'll know what to do.  I like your outlook for 2018, when you're in the middle of IF I feel like so many of your plans get knocked off course so there's power in just living in the moment.

@BenJay where would you go in the UK?  I've been to London a couple times and it is one of my favorite places to go!

@Bababatty that's awesome you get IVF coverage but how frustrating you are pushed off again because of hoops to jump through.  I'm glad you caught it time though so you aren't pushed off too long.

AFM- Tomorrow is Beta 3 and I have no idea what to expect.  I haven't really had any symptoms except for some slight cramping from time to time and my boobs sometimes hurt slightly.  Thanks again for the support and I love you all but I am sincerely hoping my graduation day is coming.

QOTW- We don't really have many plans for the year yet but we plan to take a trip at some point this year.  My heart says Japan but my bank account is suggesting somewhere a lot more local.  We are thinking about the Carolinas possibly but still in the planning stage.

  • @Bababatty glad you caught that in time! Sorry that insurance is messing with your plans, and slightly jealous you have insurance coverage. Hope it’s all smooth sailing from here on out.

@BenJay oooh, UK! Keep us posted on your travel plans!

@soehlerk sorry you’re having a rough day. Those major life decisions are hard ones, for sure. I like your 2018 philosophy :)

@hoffmanr7 sorry about your other embryos :( Sending sticky thoughts your way! Which island are you headed to?

@Worldtravler0522  fx for you tomorrow! I’ve heard the Carolinas are gorgeous! I’m always a fan of travel plans if you care to share :)

AFM - transfer yesterday, got the call today that 2 more were ready to freeze! In the meantime, I’m giving peptalks to the warm one (what is the right phrase here?) to snuggle in!

QOTW I’m jumping on the travel bandwagon. Trying to decide between Hawaii, NYC or New Orleans in April. Any suggestions?

  • @bababatty that’s so frustrating, but like you say, better to have caught it this time than next time and have a further delay. The waiting in IF is a kind of torture.

@Benjay if you need UK tips let me know (I’m a Brit)

@soehlerk I hope your approach to 2018 brings you success! Now I’m singing “que sera sera”...

@hoffmanr7 and @halfanewt hey transfer buddies! When do you have betas?
And @hoffmanr7 I’m in the same boat with only the one embie “on board” to focus all hope on. It’s a whole new level of tough. Hugs.

@worldtravler0522 I sooooo hope you can graduate with the next check In!!! Fx for your beta today.

AFM transferred our day 4 embie on Monday. My RE is only offering a beta on 29th!!! Which is like 14dp4dt =18dpo WTF??? Does he really think I won’t test before then??????? And even if I don’t test, i will for sure either see AF or notice AF is very late by then... sometimes they don’t make this any easier...

QOTW I guess I need to go with finishing my EMBA.

  • @emmasemm - We're the typical American tourists that want a good pub fish & chip supper, an afternoon at the British Museum, and walking history tours. :) Definitely London and Edinburgh, maybe Bath. I went to the UK as a child but did all the super cheesy stuff. (Ok, I am secretly tempted to do a Whitechapel or Jack the Ripper tour...) Recommendations, please! We aren't big spenders, love people watching and local culture.

@Worldtravler0522 - Any recommendations welcome! I visited about 20 years ago so things have changed certainly. ;)

  • @worldtravler0522 Thanks for starting a new thread and keeping the board up.  Good luck with Beta tomorrow!

@bababatty Insurance requirements can be so frustrating...but every time I think that I remind myself to be thankful for insurance.  Glad you found out in time to not cause additional delay.

@benjay yay for travel plans.  I need to get my passport so we can go somewhere more interesting some day.

@hoffmanr7 good luck with the embryo.  How far are you post transfer?

@halfanewt FX for you! snuggle in baby!

@emmasemm Good luck to you as well.  14 days is a long wait!!

AFM: I got my stim schedule yesterday.  I switch from BCP to estrace at the end of this week.  Baseline appointment 2/2 and stims start 2/3.  This is my first IVF cycle so I'm full of optimism but trying to stay grounded at the same time.

QOTW: Really the IF thing is taking priority this year.  We don't have any major plans, just a couple of small trips here and there.

  • @Worldtravler0522 - thanks! I don't mind re: the check-in. Great news on the beta!!! :D

@Bababatty - I'm leaving next week. We're going to Hawaii. :) That's annoying re: the bloodwork, but glad you caught it now!

@BenJay - I hope your trip pans out too! A good fish and chip supper sounds great! (To me, so does a Jack the Ripper tour. Lol)

@soehlerk - I'm sorry about AF. :( Sometimes, when I think about having done IVF, it makes me so angry. Like, we did it, but I'm still sad/mad/upset about it. I'm happy we had the option, but I'm sad we had to exercise it. Does that make sense?

IF is really tough. Hang in there.

@hoffmanr7 - keeping FX for you. Really hoping this is the one!
Also, I'm so sorry your other embies didn't make it. I would find it difficult to stay positive too. Stick baby stick indeed.

@halfanewt - congratulations on your transfer! Keeping FX for you!

@emmasemm - holy, what a wait! I would test before that too! Stick baby stick!!

@ChristenMA83 - stimming will be here before you know it!

@kristimh80 - thinking of you! Your stimming is here so soon too!

@BWhitta - great news, sounds like this RE is a good fit!

AFM: I won't really have many updates until next month's FET. Just watching the board and rooting everyone on. :)
  • @Worldtravler0522 so glad it seems like everything is right on track! fx for your beta Friday!

@Bababatty sorry you are delayed but sounds like you are going to be able to hit the ground running.

@soehlerk what you said really resonated with me.  sometimes it's easier not to put too much pressure on ourselves with goals, especially these fertility goals, when so much is out of our hands.

@BenJay the UK would be awesome!  I drink tea all the time but drinking it there just felt RIGHT  ;)

@hoffmanr7@halfanewt@emmasemm  sending good vibes your way!!!

@ChristenMA83  I get that same excitement with each new step along the way.  fx this is your month!  same to you @kristimh80

@BWhitta so glad you liked your new RE.  out of curiosity, what do they consider "excessive" exercise?
I had my HSG a few months ago and hysteroscopy 2 weeks ago.  I would not call either one of them painful.  HSG was more uncomfortable simply because I was awake,  and they had to do it twice and use the "grabber"(!) bc my cervix and uterus are weird shapes and difficult to navigate.  I woke up with some cramping from hysteroscopy, but it went away with ibuprofen/tylenol.  No pain after HSG.  Bled slightly for 4 days after each.  The anesthesia kind of knocked me out for some reason, I wasn't totally with it for a few days after the surgery.  I could definitely take care of myself but didn't want to drive for ~48 hrs since I felt a little loopy.

@funkykey  i'm with you with no updates ... just waiting it out till AF

QOTW:  DH finishing his final year of medical training in July.  hallelujah.  his field is small so it's looking less like he'll have a job job and more like an interim job but still, it'll be a JOB!  med school + residency + fellowship will be 11 years, so being done with that feels pretty exciting.

@BWhitta I’m so glad you were able to get in so quickly and that you like the new RE!

AFM: We has our transfer yesterday and it went really well. A beautiful 4AA embryo. We didn’t think we would be able to do a fresh transfer, so it was kind of a nice surprise. We haven’t told anyone IRL we did a fresh transfer. We would like there to be somethings just between MH and I, and also the potential to surprise our family if it works. Beta is on the 29th but I will definitely test before then.

I am am feeling a little down and honestly confused about the rest of our embryos though. On day 3 we had 5-6 that were where they’re supposed to be. Yesterday before the transfer the RE told us that there were 2 being frozen yesterday (in addition to the one being transferred) and 2 more that could catch up today (day 6). So we were pretty pleased with that. Then after the transfer the embryologist told us that they weren’t freezing 2 yesterday and that we still had 2 that may catch up today. So we thought we had 2 to freeze, possibly as many as 4, and then the embryologist said we had possibly 2, which is a big difference. They’re going to call today to update me, but I can’t help but feel kind of upset about it. MH was pretty bummed also. We’ll see what they say today, I’m trying to stay positive but it’s hard. This is a lot to go through and we were really hoping we would have a couple to bank.

Sorry that was way longer than I intended.
  • @BWhitta I'm so glad you like your new RE!
@Kim41313 Glad the transfer went well.  That's understandably disappointing about your other embryos.  Keeping my fingers crossed those last 2 make it to freeze.

  • The RE’s office called and said they have 1 that could potentially be frozen, however the quality isn’t great. He said that this quality embryo has a 10% chance of resulting in a pregnancy. I asked them to freeze anyway. Now there is a lot of pressure for this transfer to work. I feel like crying.
  • @Kim41313 So sorry about your 1 freeze embryo. Try to start positive! You had perfect one for transfer day!! ((hugs))

  • @Kim41313 I’m so sorry to hear that about your embryos. That’s so incredibly frustrating. Try not to stress too much, sending lots of prayers this is all you need!

AFM-  I’m feeling slightly nervous because I had major cramping this morning for about 5-10 minutes after waking up from an orgasm I had in my sleep (insert facepalm here).  I am now terrified this will cause a miscarriage. I didn’t have any bleeding but the whole ordeal was stressful. From what I read orgasms in your sleep are totally normal when pregnant. Awesome?

  • Thank you ladies for the support. I know that you’re right. I am trying to feel okay and focus on the 1 perfect embryo I have and pray that this works.

@Worldtravler0522 sorry about the cramping. For what’s its worth, I think cramping is pretty normal during early pregnancy. Hoping your beta today has more good news!

Also, I’m sorry, I can’t help it, I know that you are stressed, but I did chuckle a little at your sleep orgasm! That is not something I would have thought could happen! I’m sure that was an interesting experience lol
  • @Kim41313 they are apparently super common because of all the hormones Haha. On one of my previous cycles I was in the middle of a steamy dream and I knew I needed it to stop so in my dream I yelled out I have a yeast infection. The dream stopped haha.

  • @Worldtravler0522 I have had them too!  A few in my lifetime.  And have never been pg.  Hopefully the cramping was all just normal uterine contraction post orgasm and all is well.  I love that your default was "I have a yeast infection!!!!"  :D  lol and I am impressed that it worked!  I think you found the sex dream equivalent of pinching yourself.  Let us know how it goes today and fx for you.

  • *TW* I started bleeding tonight. I had cramping all day long and I felt like it was different and about 10 mins ago I went to the bathroom and found bright red blood. I just don’t get how this keeps happening to me?  This was a “normal” embryo and we tested my lining and did every single thing right but now it looks like I’m expereincing my 6th miscarriage.

  • @Worldtravler0522 oh no! Fx they can see you fast and the BW still shows the right development.

Sounds weird, but I guess the “best” thing it could be would be a little SCH which is apparently so common in IVF. At least that would explain the symptoms.
