Since coming back to work after having DD I've taken a couple sick days saying my kid was sick and I needed to stay home with her when she was perfectly fine. A couple times I took her to the zoo or the beach to just hang out and a couple times I still took her to preschool, then took myself out to breakfast, got my nails done and just relaxed.
I work hard and have a ton of sick time and kiddo hardly ever gets sick so whatever.
DD rarely eats in her high chair most of our meals are on the couch haha she fights the highchair so much and it gets so stressful that Ive finally said screw it for now and we both have way more peaceful meal times!

My DS is the opposite! He eats at the coffee table so much that when he gets to go into his high chair he is so excited!
I’m curious how yesterday’s conversation disappeared... magic?
@lindsayleigh1989 that is THE struggle at my house right now! We have dinner together at the table every night other than maybe once every other week when we order in and eat in the living room while watching a movie. All of a sudden like 10 days ago DD is refusing to sit at the table and says "eat in the living room." It's driving me buts and I have no idea why she started doing it. I don't know if I should just give in, dinner together at the table is important to me.
@runsomewhere yeah I was more scared she has managed to figure out how to stand up in it even on the tightest setting, the little monkey. I like having dinner as a family so we are still doing dinner together when I have my husband to help watch her there too. But for now I am just choosing my battles with her haha Im not sure I can handle one more heart attack of turning around to grab her something and see her crawling onto the tray
@lindsayleigh1989 I do the same, a lot of times well start in the booster seat at the table, move to his little table near his toy buckets and then over to the coffee table by the couch/ his cars. Im just happy when he’s not wasting food. All we can do is keep trying!
@lindsayleigh1989 omg yes, the "sit down right now!" moment when they stand in the high chair and look like they're ready to either fall or jump. We let her just sit in the regular chair now which sometimes satisfies her but also gives her the ability to get up and down a million times. I thought about getting a booster but I've been slacking on it and I feel like she might hate it.
@runsomewhere@lindsayleigh1989 TBH if your getting a booster to corral them, my son still climbs in an out of it like it’s his job. But he’s also part monkey.
True confession time: I am not a fan of my child right now. Don't get me wrong, I love him more than life itself, I just don't presently like him very much. Both of us are frustrated with each other, but because he's 2 he does it so much better than me. I plan on making my husband play primary parent this weekend because that seemingly endless store of patience I generally have for my son has officially been depleted. I feel like a horrible mama, but there it is.
@runsomewhere I don't blame you! We get a lot of sick time too, I'm rarely sick and I hate seeing it go to waste. It'll be easier to use after the baby comes Mom perks haha.
FTM so haven't had the highchair battles, but makes me think "oh gosh" to the battles you just have to let toddlers win sometimes because it's just not worth it!
We had a retirement party for a coworker and I think over the two days that the food was left out I ate about 60% of the cake..... no shame. I brought food so I didn't mind eating other stuff lol.
I am having trouble holding my gas in when sitting at my cubicle. I work with all men, literally I'm the only woman on my floor. So if I happen to let a SBD loose, I just pull out my eucalyptus oil and sprinkle a few drops around my area. If one of the guys gets whiff of that gnarly sbd, I play it off like it wasn't me.

Been there my friend. A lot. Usually a step away and letting MH play primary parent over the weekend does the trick. Don’t feel horrible about it. My middle son and I were like this A LOT!
@runsomewhere I call those days "mental health days." Totally acceptable use of sick days IMO.
Yup! Or "I'm sick of work" days. Totally acceptable in my books!
My confession is that I did an hour of work today and it's almost noon. But, I worked until 7pm last night, so I think it's ok! This week was pretty hell-ish and I'm so glad we don't have major plans this weekend!
+1 for high chair probs. We eat the majority of our meals in the living room. We started doing it one week when I was spring cleaning and had all the crap I was purging on our dining room table. After one week of no high chair, there was no turning back. Just one of many bad habits in our home.
Oh, we also eat in the living room msot nights. My mom would cringe. No one in Italy does that! Haha! I need to make sure we start establishing better habits before babe is here, but we all know they may not last...
Meals are a problem in our house too. We used to eat all meals in our kitchen, then when we doing some renovations it turned into the dining room, which has now just turned into the living room. Hoping to get back into good habits soon!
I am SO cranky today. I led a meeting all morning with some of the most grumpy people I have ever worked with. There was one dr in particular who just really made me hate life. It’s Friday! I should be in a good mood!! Ugh

@4deep how about I tell you my easy microwave cleaning hack instead? Mine was really disgusting too!
To clean mine I fill a glass about half full with water and then add a couple tablespoons of white vinegar and microwave it for like 5 minutes. Then I let the steam soften everything for a while and the mess just wipes right out!
we also have mealtime struggles at our house and dinnertime is all about surviving over here. My husband is NEVER home for dinner or bedtime and a lot of days I’m too exhausted by dinner to give a damn about anything. My kids watched shows on tablets during dinner last night. At least they ate..
I was planning on having taco bell for lunch (my guilty pleasure) 3 tacos... but I went and they were closed! so i went around the block to jack in the box and had to get 4 tacos, (2 for .99) and planned on only eating 3...but I really want to eat the 4th one...

My daughter ate a “progressive lunch” in the grocery store today. 2 bananas, fruit leather, several bites out of the focaccia and a juice box. We paid for everything during check out but it was a borderline parenting win/fail.

@rachelsogo I say eat it and regret nothing! Tacos are much better fresh anyway
It is amazing the habits we say we would never do that we do just to keep toddlers from being little a-holes! I let DS watch shows on my phone when we are at restaurants so I can visit with my DH/the people there without a tantrum. I always said I would never do that, and yet....it's better than him yelling the whole time!
@hillbillywife@ashbub714 I ate it..no regrets..didn't want to waste food...that'd be taco abuse!!

@hillbillywife keep it real! I can completely understand. We do what we can to survive. And thank you for the microwave tip. I've heard of that but never tried it. I'll try it out this weekend.
My confession is I plan to tell my husband when he gets home that baby needs Mexican food tonight and we need to go out to eat. Then afterwards baby will be very tired and need to retire early to bed and Netflix.

I just cleaned my microwave for the first time since I bought it many months ago. So shiny and clean now!
