January FET

Re: January FET

  • @prudence9-2 it is a dilemma for sure. But it is encouraging that with your ERA results this FET will work out! I can't advice you on neupogen though, just go with your gut.

AFM, one last blood work tomorrow and we should be good to go. I wanted to ask you guys what is your post FET recommendations? My RE says I can do whatever and I don't need bed rest. However I think I will take 2 days off work and chill at home and have a nice day or two on the couch. Last time I was pretty active right after and got a BFN, so I am trying something new.Don't know if this will work but we'll see.

  • @DecemberDoll27 yes, the ERA results were what I was hoping for. Even a 12 hour tweak gives me some hope that this will end up differently.

As for your question, I usually take a sick day on the day of the transfer and just chill. But like you, I am considering taking 2 days off. Last time I was pretty active the day after and it was a bfn. With that said, moving around is good as it helps blood flow. So even if you stay home for two days, don’t just sit on the sofa, maybe go outside for a short, easy walk...

  • @DecemberDoll27 @tnh0413 @prudence9-2 You all were right, its really not that bad! I was sore last night and today, but the shot itself wasnt bad and my DH was great about giving it to me, which I really didnt think he would be since last time we both got blood work he almost fainted.

@tnh0413 I have been doing acupuncture since November and I find that its really been helping me relax and I think it helped me recover from the retrieval pretty quickly. I am planning on going Thursday (the day before the transfer) and then the day after. This is my first transfer, so I hope it helps!

I plan on taking a couple days as well and just resting, I am trying not to stress out about anything... although I am sure that I still will!
  • @DecemberDoll27 I think that what I will do too. But maybe the second day will be a work from home day. Not sure.

My next appt is the lining check next Thurs. what about you?

@bdaisy2761 yeah, PIO is not too bad. It does get worse though as you keep doing it for... but if you’re good about heating it up after. And maybe also use some ice if you have bruises then it’s manageable. ;)

  • @DecemberDoll27 yay!! I hope everything is good to go for transfer in a week! Eeeee!!

I always take the day of the transfer off (RE gives me Valium). Luckily, it happened to be on Friday last time and this time so I’ve got the weekend before going back to work. She tells me to relax and hang the day of and then no lifting more than 5 lbs, no strenuous exercise, and no sex/orgasm until the beta. The last transfer hubby and I went camping the weekend after FET and did a very light hike (basically all flat). I stay pretty active, particularly with yoga (which is also forbidden) so I needed to do something and walking seemed like the best bet. I’ll try to do the same again this time, except no camping trip!

  • Hi ladies,

I've been lurking for a little while, so I thought I'd introduce myself! I'm having my transfer this Wednesday, and I'm getting impatient! I'm excited that it's finally almost here.

The PIO is making me ridiculously tired, but otherwise I'm doing ok. This is my 3rd FET, though the second one got canceled before we got to this point because I had a dominant follicle.

I'm currently struggling with the decision on whether to take two days off from work or just the one, so I was interested to read all of your thoughts on the matter. I'm a teacher, and it's a big pain in the butt to plan for a sub, plus we have a shortage of good subs right now. But I suppose if ever there was a time to put myself first, this is it, right?

Good luck on everyone's upcoming appointments!

I have a question for you guys! I am starting PIO tomorrow but I don't know if I should do it in am or pm. Last unsuccessful cycle my instructions were to do the first shot in pm. However, this cycle my instructions don't have a specific time frame. So when did you start your PIO (am or pm)? I am waiting for a nurse to call me about it but I want other people's opinion as well

  • Hello ladies.  I have also been reading up in  here the past couple of days.  I had my transfer on Friday, and it is hard not to think about it!
amy8686   Im relieved to hear that the PIO makes you tired because I have just felt like a bum!  I have never watched so many movies in my whole life. I don't feel Bad, just tired.
Knottie17863111  I was totally surprised that the PIO did not hurt at all.  I guess I was expecting something terrible.  The first shot, the nurse gave me, and I had to ask her if she was in.  I asked for 25g syringes, instead of the 22g which normally come with the kit, and the size definitely makes a difference. But now that Im used to it, I have switched back to the 22g because it is so much easier to inject, and I have to do these myself.  but if I had someone else to do it, I would certainly be using the 25!

This is my first transfer, and it is a long-shot, as I had only one embryo and i am 48.  So Im just praying.  I am having cramping, and I feel all sorts of swelling and all that, but I am sure the PIO is causing most of that.

I keep getting nervous about certain days, like trying to count and see what is supposed to be happening on what days.

Sending out good juju for all of us!

  • For me PIO was usually in the mornings. But now since my era results came back that I need 12 additional hours I’ll do it at night and start the night before. So I get those extra 12 hours.

If I get pregnant I can switch back to mornings (which is much easier for me)

  • Knottie17863111  thank you for putting the chart together! Yes it is something to look back on all the hurdles!  And yes, it takes alot of pressure to get the oil through the syringe, but I saw a few videos where ladies warm the oil, like in their hand, or under a breast, or in an electric heating pad, and the oil moves more easily.  I use a heating pad, just for a couple of minutes.  you can check with your nurse to makes sure just in case your recipe is different.

  • @littledarlins - How exciting! I'm glad you jumped in... having someone ahead of me here will slightly help my impatience. I can't wait to hear your updates very soon. Rooting for you and your one embryo!!

@Knottie17863111 - I love the list. Thanks for doing that. :) And congrats on clearing the hurdle of the last appointment! I used to take the suppression and lining checks for granted, until my last cycle got canceled after one of them. Now I celebrate getting to move past those appointments.

I have much respect for those of you who do the PIO yourselves. I can now do the subcutaneous ones myself, but reaching around to the muscle is tricky, let alone having the bravery to stab myself with the big needle. I do 25g needles and warm the oil, and I just lie on my stomach and play on my phone while my husband patiently pushes the oil in.

AFM, I just learned today that my embryos are frozen in pairs. Apparently that's pretty standard, and it was probably in the fine print when I did my fresh cycle, but we didn't care since we were transferring two back then. Now, we're transferring one at a time and that means we'll lose the other one if they both thaw successfully. (The nurse said they might be able to refreeze the other one, but it likely wouldn't be viable after that.) We were caught by surprise and we're a little bit sad about this. Do you all know if yours are frozen in pairs too?

  • ****LURKER******

Good morning ladies!! Congrats to everyone who are doing their FETs this month so excited for you all!!

I just had my ER on Dec 29th I had 29 eggs retrieved, 25 were mature and 12 made it to Day 5!! We are doing PGS testing and am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for result!! Also I had initally paid for 10 embryos to be tested up front since we got more than expected they emailed us on Friday for the payment for the extra 2 so I’m assuming testing began on Monday. I’m super impatient and just want to know the results! So for those who did PGS testing how long did it take you guys to get your results back?
  • @amy8686 I’ve not heard of that either! Mine were frozen singles. Did they maybe just assume you guys planned to transfer 2 at a time ?

@ndz2018 welcome and I hope everything goes well with the PGS!! 12 to day 5 is wonderful!! I didn’t go the PGS so no help on the turnaround time. When do you plan to have your first FET?

  • @amy8686 I have not heard of the freezing in doubles either! I am sure that was very frustrating to just find out. Best of luck today! I am sending lots of positive thoughts your way

@Knottie17863111 congrats on everything being on track for the 18th!
  • @amy8686 I haven't ever heard of freezing in pairs. I think at a certain age they start recommending you do more than one. I think it's over 40 so you wouldn't fit that criteria, but maybe some practices are more conservative than others.

My office can be very conservative. I was told I have to do home rest on the day of and 2 days after my transfer. They don't want me on my feet very much... no more than walking from room A to room B I guess. I haven't heard of anyone else's RE being that strict.

I found out in Nov my AMH was 4.17 and i do not have PCOS.  I’m just hoping a good amount or even half, screw I’ll even take 4 that are also PGS normals. The waiting is the worst!! I mean Out of 12 a few of them have to be normal, right?!?
  • @ndz2018 for sure some will be normal!! I had 4 out of 8 normal. (I was 41 at the time). I’m going to transfer my last PGS normal embryo in 2 weeks!!! Hoping this will be the one that sticks!!!

  • @prudence9-2 So excited for you!! Sending you lil sticky bean vibes!!
  • @amy8686 I've heard of people freezing embryos in pairs but I've never talked to anybody actually doing it. May I ask if you would consider transferring two at this point? It would be very frustrating to just waste an embryo if they both thaw successfully. It is a hard situation to be in. How many sets of frosties do you have left?

@ndz2018 congrats on 12 embies, it is a great number! I did not do PGS so I can't answer your question. But good luck to you!
@littledarlins I also used to warm up my PIO with a heating pad and one time I left it on there for too long! I think I burned my butt from the inside that night! LOL So if you guys are using that technique please proceed with caution! I normally just warm it with my hands, under a boob sounds like a good idea but I don't have much of a frame for that.
AFM, I am starting PIO tonight! YEY! I also requested 2 days off from work (for transfer day and day after) so I am looking forward to two days of netflix on the couch! I am starting to get excited for the transfer! I downloaded bunch of relaxation music and ordered a new paint by number kit ( best stuff ever to relax and keep your mind off), so I am all set!

  • I'm PUPO! Things went pretty smoothly. I've just watched last night's This is Us, and I have a very exciting agenda of finding movies to watch on Netflix for the rest of today and tomorrow.

That's interesting that none of you have embryos frozen in pairs... I guess it's not as standard as I thought. It's definitely disappointing. Thankfully, we had one single one frozen and that one ended up working for this morning, so we didn't have to delve into the pairs just yet. We talked to the doctor about it and he said that if we do end up in that situation down the line, he'd recommend refreezing them and we can make a decision later. If we ran out of freshly frozen ones and wanted to keep going, maybe we would opt to transfer 2 of the refrozen ones. Or, we could donate them to science. We are very lucky to still have 8 left. We were hoping to donate our leftovers for someone else to adopt after we're done, because we couldn't fathom going through them all ourselves, but now there's the potential to blow through all 8 more quickly. Anyway, I don't want to complain because I know how lucky we are to have so many frozen, but it's just on my mind today.

@DecemberDoll27 - I don't think we're ready to transfer two just yet, although it becomes more tempting with each failed attempt. I previously had a pretty risky pregnancy and the idea of going through that with twins terrifies me. But ask me again if this round fails. :)

Also, @DecemberDoll27, what a brilliant idea to get Paint by the Numbers! I wish I'd thought of that. Leading up to my fresh cycle, I learned about wire jewelry-making and got obsessive about finding designs on Pinterest, and I passed my time that way. It's nice to actually have something beautiful to show for your lounging-around time.

@Knottie17863111 - That's a lot of bed rest! My clinic says to "take it easy" on the day of, "don't do anything strenuous" on the second day, and resume normal life after that. I ended up taking tomorrow off from work just because I know I'm always super tired on the second day, but there's no pressure to stay on the couch if I feel inspired to do something.

@Knottie17863111 fwiw, my RE is the same. He prefers day of then 3 days of bedrest afterwards. I was shocked when I saw how lenient other REs are
  • @amy8686 congrats on being PUPO!!

@cseley321 bed rest is not recommended at my clinic because they say you need to move around as blood flow is good! They do tell me to take it easy... but not to have bed rest.

@DecemberDoll27 funny how he’s excited about it! :) I was terrified about giving myself he PIO shots. But it’s actually not that bad. And in a way, I feel like I have more control. Your transfer is next week, right?

  • @prudence9-2 yep, my transfer is on Monday. It took me some will power to let my DH do the first PIO shot back in November because I need to be in control and I have trust issues when it comes to my body parts ( LOL). But I figured it is good for our marriage to let him be the one doing it.

@amy8686 congrats on being PUPO ( and PASP hopefully) . When is your beta?

@bdaisy2761 and @tnh0413 big day tomorrow! How are you ladies feeling? Do you do anything special pre-transfer? I usually start eating large amounts of pineapple the day before transfer.

AFM, started PIO yesterday and it went great! Due to PIO shortage I am using progesterone in ethyloleate and it is so much better than PIO I used last cycle ( the one in sesame oil). It is much thinner so it goes in easier and it is more concentrated to I only need to inject 0.5ml ( vs 1 ml last cycle). I don't even feel the injection site from last night, and I used to have soreness and knots in my butt from PIO.

@DecemberDoll27 I am excited and starting to get anxious, I am hoping this day goes by quickly. I have been eating pineapple and drinking pomegranate juice everyday for the last few weeks. I will probably drink some extra juice tonight and have a double dose of pineapple! I am also going to acupuncture this evening. I am not sure if any of that works, but its worth a try.  I'm glad your PIO went well!

Does anyone else have any tips for the day before, day of and days after a transfer?
