High Risk- Week of Jan 1

I hope I'm starting this thread correctly (my first time!). I see high-risk check-ins are scheduled for Tuesdays but since I don't see one for this week and I have an update I'm getting things rolling...

I have a blood clotting disorder that had me on lovenox for the majority of my last pregnancy and heparin for the final couple weeks. My first doctor appointment is scheduled in 2 weeks but I just received a call that my doctor wants me to start the injections now. UGH I do NOT miss daily injections! I know it's pretty early but I'm wondering if anyone else has already begun treatment for their high risk issues? Today I am 5 weeks and 6 days based on the first day of my last AF.

Hope your week is going well and you're staying warm in this cold weather!

  • Hey there! I have Factor V Leiden and a previous mmc so I’m “high risk.” At this time (5w4d) I’m only on baby aspirin and progesterone because I have no history of clots. I’m wondering if I should push for the lovenox though? I can’t handle another loss...
  • I am pretty sure I will be considered high risk because my first was 4 weeks early because my water broke. My 2nd I had US and was on P17 shots from week 14 and still went into PTL at 27 weeks. She made it until 38 weeks with strict bed rest. P17 shots were only once a week and a strict diet for GD but if that's what it takes this time, it is what it is! I got This! Good luck to everyone!
  • @Jtk13 I would suggest talking with your doctor. I don't have a history of clots but I do have the clotting factor in my blood. Since I had it prescribed my last pregnancy my doctor went ahead and got me started right away.

    Hi @harleyquinn0621! Sounds like quite the journey but that's awesome you are able to see your doctor in a few days and get going on your plan of action. And you get your ultrasound! I'm not familiar with what a cerclage is but I'm going to look it up!

  • @harleyquinn0621  I  was in the same boat as you my last pregnancy. Bedrest, progesterone, PTL, shortened cervix e.t.c. Hope this one will be different.  Fx for us for healthy 9 months.

     I have PCOS, been on Metformin like forever and during pregnancy will be on insulin starting from 10-11 weeks till the end. Had PIH during last pregnancy and still taking BP meds. Had history of IC, cerclage placement by 12 weeks. DS was born 4 weeks early with SFGA due to low amniotic fluid. Also has history of migraine

  • Hi ladies! I'm high risk because I have a cardiac arhythmia. I've had six ablations and now control my heart rate with beta blockers, which have the potential to cause growth restrictions and low fluid levels later in pregnancy. I also had hypertension during my last pregnancy that progressed to pre - e, so we will be keeping a close eye on things this time. I'm working with a new MFM that I got to meet before conceiving and was relieved to find out that she trained with my last MFM at Yale. She said that we will manage this pregnancy pretty much like my last, which is a relief because I hate the unknown.
  • Hi there! We found out that we were pregnant really early on Christmas day with 3 pregnancy test and some faint lines. We've been trying for a year. On New Years Eve I started bleeding... OB was closed until this past Friday. I just had a feeling I miscarried.... well Ultrasound still showed little guy (or girl) in there measuring around 4 weeks. I have to go back Monday for bloodwork and to not get my hopes up (I had already gone through all the motions) Anyone else experienced this?
  • @sayjay23 FX for your appointment today! I have not experienced any spotting or bleeding personally. Positive thoughts coming your way for good results at the doctor's office *hugs*.

    @bissie17 Hey, we're pcos cycsters! :)

  • I'm higher risk due to severe Crohn's disease. I had emergency abdominal and pelvic surgery 4 years ago but my disease is now well controlled with Remicade infusions. I'll be followed by MFM in conjunction with my regular OB, but I haven't settled on a MFM group yet.
