Omnitrope Pricing

Hello-I am returning to this board after many years and am wondering if anyone has bought omnitrope recently? I had great success with it in prior IVF cycles and am about to use it again.  The last time I bought it I paid around $800ish per vial and used Avella Specialty Pharmacy after calling around doing price checks. Time to research again! Any help is appreciated! Please share where you purchased, when and how much you paid and I will be so grateful!

Re: Omnitrope Pricing

  • no one has been using hgh in their cycles? Anyone?
  • @Roeni Where are you located? I feel like I read recently that HGH is illegal in many countries for IVF use. That might be why few people are using it.

  • @roeni- I used it once, over a year ago, and it was &1800 for 10 days worth I think? It didn’t help me at all but I was willing to give it a try. My new RE was shocked my prior RE prescribed it since she said the FDA was cracking down on the off label use of it for infertility and she could lose her license for prescribing it, so I don’t think many ladies are using it anymore

  • @adirat it is not illegal in the US, as I used it in 2 cycles in 2016. I think it had been illegal prior to that. It is certainly legal now.
  • @JamieH2000 it is approved for IVF use now. It worked so well for me twice last year that I would not do ivf without it.
  • @Roeni Doctors may be willing to prescribe it off-label but the FDA's documentation doesn't include IVF/fertility uses. https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2006/021426lbl.pdf

As a result it wouldn't surprise me if few people are taking it because many doctors are gunshy as @jamieh200 said.

  • I see. I was just reading it was not approved but okay as off label. Good news is clinical trials are starting in 2018 for poor responders like me. I know it does not work in some but it was a miracle drug for me
  • Roeni, I've received two price quotes for Omnitrope so far... $315 and $401 per vial. I will need 5 vials, so total cost will be $1575 for my first cycle.
Yes, it's off-label use, but it's not illegal. Studies to date have shown promising results for use in poor responders. Their prescribing information doesn't say anything about use for infertility treatments so I'm super excited to see your update on trials, Roeni!
  • I called Avella and it is $345/vial. Where did you find the $315? @CWFarmGurl
  • Must be the buying power through my clinic... my RE nurse gave me the price.
  • Hi @Roeni, I’ve used Omnitrope for all of my IVF cycles in 2017 (at two clinics) and have it ready to go for this next one as well.  I’ve gotten it from Northridge Plaza Pharmacy (last purchase was Dec 20) and I paid $325/vial (they’re in SoCal and shipped to me in SoCal for that price).

I used 3 vials (but only stimmmed 7 days) for my last (and best) cycle - I’m curious if half a vial/day instead of 1/3 would be any better.

No insurance coverage since it is being used off label.
