@lucylou214 hoping yours continues to stay put as well! As for what to expect going forward, I'm sure every provider will differ slightly on their course of action for our situation (as an example, I wasn't put on bedrest, just told to limit my activity level and rest when I started to contract), but I assume if you've continued to have contractions they will check you to see if you've had any further changes to your cervix. I don't have plans for NSTs or other ultrasounds since baby looked great when I was in the hospital last week (growing well, heartrate responding well to contractions, no concerns with fluid levels or anything like that). I'll be curious to hear how your appointment goes, so please keep us posted!
ETA: effacement refers to how thinned out your cervix is (it will go from 0% in an unchanged cervix to 100% to deliver your baby). If you get checked today, you might ask!
So, the appt went well today! The Dr. did not do a cervix check, but said he will note for the one I'm seeing next week (it's a multi-provider practice) to do so, since it was just checked a week ago. I think DH and I might have felt better if he had, but I also know there are disadvantages to doing it too often, and we don't want to stir anything up.
I have no idea if I'm having contractions (I didn't know before, either), but he felt like unless I did start feeling them and they were painful, not to worry for now. No plans for NSTs or ultrasounds for the same reason as you- baby looked fine when she was looked at at last week in the hospital, so they are not concerned about her. I am still on "restriction" for another week (they said there is no evidence that ACTUAL bedrest IN bed does any good in keeping labor at bay, but restricting activities and laying low can help for sure), but will be gently going back to work next week, unless something changes.
Also, for what it's worth, my doctor also mentioned the magic number of 34 weeks, saying what you wrote earlier- that at that point, they would not try to stop labor.
sounds like you are in good hands! Take care of yourself. Resting is good. We're so close to magic 34!!! I've been restricting my activities on my own over Christmas break because I've had to stop contractions once at the hospital already. It'll be interesting to see what my body does when I start work January 8... Good luck to you!!
In my experience, a lot of early contractions (even when I was actually in labor with my first) are either not felt or easily written off as general pregnancy discomfort. For me it wasn't until things really got going with DS1 that I was able to feel my contractions -- but once I did, they were absolutely unmistakable.
33 Weeks tomorrow! My goal is to make it to every Friday and then I feel a bit better.
2) How are you feeling?
Decent. I've been on Christmas Break from work since Dec. 21. So I've been able to take it easy/relax. I go back to work January 8 and know that my contractions will kick up at that point. I'm suspecting a 2-3 week bed rest at least... this is the farthest I've made it without bed rest. (32 weeks with DS1 and 30 weeks with ds2). I'm thankful for making it this far.
I'm feeling more anxious this week that we need to do x,y,z before baby comes. I've been so focused on Christmas that we've put off a lot of baby stuff until then... now the pressure is on to get things done. I'm already dilated to a 2.5 and 70 % effaced... was a 1 and 50% before Thanksgiving... so I know that my body is moving along. Not quite ready yet!
3) Any appointments this week?
Had one yesterday. weight gain has slowed a bit, thank goodness. Baby's HB was good and measuring 34 weeks.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions? Rave: DH and I decided that it'll only be he and I when it comes time to push (mom and sister were with us for the other two). We want time to just cherish this little guy just the DH and I. We've also decided that we're not having visitors in the hospital. With the raging flu around here, i'll be out of the hospital in 24 hours as long as baby and I have no complications. I'll be focused on nursing a newborn and recovering from child birth. I was overwhelmed with visitors with my other two boys and am thankful DH is on board with this decision. Things you learn after multiple deliveries. 5) GTKY: What was the best gift you got over the holidays? (Copied from another EDD post)
Prenatal massage certificate and DH had the whole week of Christmas off... it has been so nice to be home with my guys with nothing pressing to do except prepare for baby. DH had been traveling a lot prior to the holidays. we're all soaking up this time together.
I cannot believe that I will be 33 weeks on Saturday!
2) How are you feeling?
Having a rough time this week. Feeling a lot of pressure down low but then feeling her trying to cut off my breathing. Also trying to fight a cold...hoping that it isn't the flu since all the family over Christmas had the flu.
3) Any appointments this week?
Had my regular appointment. I go back in 2 weeks where she will do an ultrasound to make sure she is growing good and not getting too big being that I was diagnosed with GD.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Tired of customers at work asking me why I hadn't had the baby yet. I'm sorry I have like 7.5 weeks to go.
5) GTKY: What was the best gift you got over the holidays? (Copied from another EDD post)
My mom got me this really comfy maternity shirt and jacket/sweater that is super comfy.
2) How are you feeling? I have been super sore lately. Back aches, pelvic pain, stretched belly. But I felt great for most of my pregnancy so I'll survive! I'm also on a 2 week Christmas break and it will be tough finding motivation when I go back on the 8th! 3) Any appointments this week? No appoitnmrnts until a regular check up with my family doctor on the 9th! interested to see what the heartbeat it! Normally 155-165 and last time was 133.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions? Rave to my mom! We are staying with my mom for the 2 week break and she is so fantastic! She has been getting up with DS so I can sleep in! Hubby and I went to the movies last night while she kept him. I did some Boxing Day shopping along while she kept him! We are only home about 3 times a year so she loves helping when I'm home and I love her help! 5) GTKY: What was the best gift you got over the holidays? Mine was early but my parents paid for myself and my DS to fly home. So we only had to pay for DH! Saved us a ton right before the holidays! Sorry to hear about all of the ladies experiencing PTM symptoms! I'm really hoping your babies stay put! Every extra week, day, hour they stay put the better!

This is positive thinking girls! @kbrinks2 is right each day in our bellies is another day they are stonger. Thanks for the positivity!!
2) How are you feeling? I'm feeling lots of pelvic pain, inconsistent contractions and just overall exhaustion. 3) Any appointments this week? I had one on Wednesday and everything was good.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions? I've had a cold for a while and it recently developed into an ear infection. My dr finally gave me antibiotics on Tuesday and I'm just starting to feel relief from the ear/head pressure and pain. We were stuck inside and all sick for Christmas so it'll be nice to get out for New Year's Eve.... even though I'm not sure how I'll stay awake!
5) GTKY: What was the best gift you got over the holidays? (Copied from another EDD post) Santa brought me a sewing machine! I like to make DDs costumes and things for school and the holidays but I've had to either sew by hand or get creative with felt. I'm excited to start playing around with it!
We are back in the hospital, same concerns. Lots of tight but not painful contractions, and I am 3.5-4cm and I think 80% effaced at 33w2d. Not sure what's to come, but I am really hoping she decides to chill out again and stay put. Our Dr. reassured us that she would be okay at this GA, but "high maintenance" and would be better of course to stay IN and grow more. I am so thankful that she continues to be okay (according to NSTs), however.

Crossed fingers she stays put. Drs. Right Fortunately she'll be a moderate premie...so not as severe... as say an earlier premie ( I'm in same boat..so have to look at positives). Fingers crossed we make it to 37 weeks. Did you have to get the lung steroid?
Thanks for your well wishes and positive vibes, everyone. Our little girl, Isabelle, decided that she simply could not wait, and made her appearance yesterday afternoon. Thankfully, she is doing fairly well for a 33 weeker, and was a good size at 5.11. She had be be transferred last night to a hospital with a NICU an hour away, where we know she is in excellent hands, and my DH is with her. It's very common for babies of this GA to have breathing difficulties, and she was working harder than the pediatrician wanted to see. Thankfully, so far, she has not needed any of the more intensive interventions that they pediatrician sent her in case she needed, and we are crossing our fingers HARD that she continues to do well. She has a long way to go, but we are taking it a few hours at a time.
