@dragonfly87-2 Two ounces is good, especially this early and when you are breastfeeding too. Our little ones are approaching or at a growth spurt now and may be cluster feeding more, which in turn empties the breast better... then there is less to pump if you're doing it after a feed.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

So I have been taking sunflower lechitin 3x daily and have noticed not only is my supply more consistent throughout the day (now getting more at night), I seem to be able to get 10+ ounces much faster than before so now I only have to pump 20ish minutes to hit thet instead of 30.

I think I am getting more hindmilk this was as well as his green poops have gone back to yellow

Oh my gosh, I started drinking a gallon of water each day 3 days ago but today is the first day I was able to pump in a few days and I got a total of 5 oz out after nursing and was still able to nurse DD a little when she woke up right after. Wow! Hydration :)

I cannot recall if we discussed the Freemie cups on this thread or the Spectra pump thread. I, of course, picked a week where my supply has dipped to try the Freemie cups for the first time, and the first pump was dismal. Maybe a full ounce total. I’ve been trying to drink at least 100oz (reach goal is a full gallon) every day and that seems to be helping. But with the Freemie cups, going to the larger flange size actually made a difference! Now if I could only be better about remembering to turn the pump from massage to pump mode quicker.

Mamas- I made myself a clip-in hands-free pumping bra and am inordinately proud of myself! It works with any model pump, too.

My SIL gave me all her nursing bras, but after 3 kids some of them were pretty worn out. I took one, cut off the shoulder straps, and modified the cups to hold the pump flanges. I’m so pleased! It will make pumping at work much easier.  The one I had (bandeau style) was fine for the first few pumps, but didn’t work as well when it stretched out.

So I am going to have to wean down to 4 pumps a day by the time I go back to work in mid-feb, and I have no clue how. I have an almost over supply they makes it horribl if I go even as long as 4 hours between pumps. I have no idea how to start pushing out times other than just suck it up and deal with pain. My pediatrician (who is my lactation consult as well) wants me to start now since my supplynis so high she’s worried I’m a huge mastitis risk of I go back unprepared for how long I will go between pumps at Work. Anyone have suggestions?

This is my pump log for the last 2 days

@DungeonTrollMel - How long are you pumping for each time? Could you start by cutting down on the pump time rather than frequency?  Or start by pushing out by 15min increments the frequency between pumping.  I.e., do two days at 3.25hr intervals, then two at 3.5hr, etc., adding time to the interval every few days after your body adjusts.

@DungeonTrollMel I've also been EP. After dealing with mastitis the past two weeks, I'm ready to wean once the infection clears. I also have oversupply (50 oz a day), so I've spent a lot of time looking at weaning.

    Here's a for a blog I found useful:
    https://exclusivepumping.com/dropping-pumps/

The LCs and NPs I've been seeing have cautioned me to wean (or drop pump sessions) very slowly since I'm at higher risk of mastitis. They want me to pump less time for all sessions (you could just do the session you want to drop at a time) by a couple minutes, hang out there for 3-5 days, and then reduce time again by a couple minutes. Once I'm down to 10 minutes for the session I want to drop, I can drop it and then evenly space out the remaining sessions. It will take me 6+ weeks to wean this way, but hopefully I'll avoid getting mastitis a second time. :(

I'm also trying to reduce my supply while clearing the mastitis by taking sage, as I suspect my breasts have a large storage capacity and weaning will be hard unless I can produce less milk overall.

I am struggling so hard with correct phalange size on one side. I use a 24 and it looks like it’s rubbing and my
nipple takes up the entire width. I go up one size and it pulls half my areola into it and rubs at the base of my nipple.

I feel chaffed and raw all day. I use APNO ointment, I cushion with breast pads, I ordered shells today and the rim presses right where it’s sore. I’m at witsend and about ready to quit

@DungeonTrollMel I’m sorry, that is so frustrating and painful! Is there a LC you can get in to see ro work through some of these issues? I’ve always been told to never quit on a bad day of BF/pumping. Try not to give up today!
  • Options
@DungeonTrollMel  I am so sorry you're going through this, ugh!!! I hope you can get through this. I most definitely agree with @mymulligan never quit on a bad day. IF you decide to quit then make sure you think about it and have a peace about it and not quit just because you're frustrated. It may just simply be too much and ya know what... That's OK ;) you have tried and tried! You are doing amazing! Many others may have quit at the first sign of difficulty and you endured! I have no experience with it (I produce barely enough) so all I can lend is encouragement.
    Hugs ;)

@DungeonTrollMel Sorry you are struggling with the flange situation. I agree, an LC might be able to help. Also, I hear that pumpin pals are awesome options and they help you figure out the right fit. Might be worth a try. FX you are able to figure it out soon!

@DungeonTrollMel I don't know if you've tried them yet, but I agree with dragonfly87-2 about the Pumpin' Pals. I used them with my first and it saved my pumping.
