I booked my fresh 48 session tonight! I’m super excited as I’ve been wanting it since I first saw one. Have any STM+’s done one before? I’m trying to decide if I want to bring a special outfit or keep DS2 in the hospital clothes. All opinions welcome:).
I booked my birth photographer in June (shhh), but I've been thinking about this too. LO might be our last baby and so now I'm getting really sentimental about things I didn't care about previously. With DD1 and DD2, I didn't care that they were just in a diaper and swaddle in the hospital because it made it easier to do skin to skin. This time, I had a onesie made to tell DH that we were expecting (even though he told me literally after the sex). It's long sleeved and says "Baby LastName". I'm thinking that I might have her wear that. OR I could order a new onesie since we picked out her name so early in comparison with our other girls.
I'm in the lab for the three hour glucose test again. The drink still sucks. My husband went through the drivethru on the way here. Now he's running errands while I sit here and scroll through the internet.
Also, I feel like a grade A jerk for not being more active lately. The app is so glitchy for me that by the time I get it to work the free second I had to check in is gone and my girls are needing me. I still love you guys a ton!
@TattoosandLace that’s how I feel too! He’s definitely our last, and so I’m going way above and beyond in comparison to DS1 and DD. I’m considering a personalized swaddle and/or hat for LO. But I’m also wondering if I want it to match my other two bc they were in hospital clothes.
I’m definitely buying cute big brother/sister shirts for my older two.

What's a fresh 48
When the photographer comes to the hospital the first 48 hours to take pictures of LO. You can search fresh 48 and see the kinds of pictures they take
I am pretty sure this is my last as pregnancy is kicking my butt this time, but then i wonder if it will be okay because baby will be so far apart from the other kids in age, maybe he needs a sibling close in age? The next youngest will be 8 when he comes which means he'll be alone in the house when he's 10, and my older kids interact so much with each other and i was an only Kid and hated it.
I feel like we are doing Less for this baby and i am openly being less excited than i was with the others because i don't want them to think I'll like/ love him more than them because they have different fathers (This is a lovely thought that was put in my head years ago before i was even remarried or trying to get pregnant that I'm can't seem to forget). Like by this point before the babies room would be ready, I'd have all the clothes, I'd be talking about the baby all the time, etc.
We booked a fresh 48 too. I am keeping it pretty chill. We are also doing newborn pictures which I have gotten a cute little outfit and bows for that. I didn’t get hardly any pictures of DS and I in the hospital that is why I booked this.
Sweet my breast pump has shipped and will get here on Saturday! Kind of concerned they don't have our condo # on the shipping email, though... May have to stalk the front porch lol.
My hospital has a photographer who goes around taking newborn pics, so I hope that person is around the day I pop for those first pictures. At least we can call for day 2 if not, I hope.
Super bummed that our photographer that did our wedding and DS’s newborn pictures moved out of state. Having a hard time finding a new one I like as well within our budget, how far in advance have photographers said you need to book? I feel like I’m going to miss the window! Ahh!

@TattoosandLace the app has been impossible for me too lately. Not letting me read threads for hours at a time and freezing. I just deleted it and redownloaded it and so far it’s working.
@gingermama26 my last scheduled shift is for the night before my EDD, but i have already let management know that if I am still pregnant, I will be picking up shifts. As with some of the other posters, I want as much time with LO after he is born. For “maternity leave” we get 3 weeks base salary in a lump sum at the beginning and then 3 weeks short term disability that pays 60% of our base pay. If we choose to stay out the full 12 weeks we can supplement with our own PTO which I have been hoarding.
@ winnie1122 we booked our newborn and fresh 48 in August, my photographer said she was almost full then. I think it just depends on the area and your price point though
For us ladies just doing hospital photos, do them ASAP. DD developed jaundice and so she has jaundice eyes in her pictures. You know, from where they cover the eyes when they’re under the Bili-lights. The pictures were still cute, but the yellow around her eyes kind of noticeable.
Not sure if this goes here or Bitchfest... I work in a very fun office that really enjoys alcohol. Today is our office party, starting at lunch. I expected the beer to start then. They popped four bottles of champagne for mimosas at 9:30. I LOVE champagne! This is not fair. I’ve been pretty ok abstaining so far. We have a white elephant gift exchange, too. Yep, everyone brings a bottle of alcohol.

Oh man, that sucks! We did our gift exchange last week and I actually declined to participate as every year it's just bottles of alcohol or gift cards to the liquor store.
@olitwinturbosnprincess I also LOVE champagne and have found all of the Christmas festivities less fun this year because I can't have a glass (or four).
I wore amethyst jewelry during our wedding, and as I was organizing my jewelry box I realized that will also likely be our little girl's birthstone. So now I have all the sentimental thoughts about passing the jewelry down to her and her possibly wearing it at her wedding someday.

Kinda along same lines...just haven't felt Christmas spirit...been to busy getting ready for Los arrival...cant partake in parties ect. Just feeling blah let's move on to Feb. Now.
I can't wait to hit my wine stash after LO is born! Wine gets better with age, right? Also, @caitb13, that is really sweet!
Question - has anyone tried Raspberry Red Leaf Tea? One of my friends recommended drinking it during 3rd trimester (32 weeks) to help with labor by strengthening your womb muscles.
@jennifer_m21 it was recommended to me by a doula I know. I did try it and it tastes pretty good, but as a first time mom, I have no idea if it has any real effect on labor.

I’ve been drinking it since mid 2nd tri. When I asked my OB around 16wks she said she didn’t think anything of it. So I figured why not try lol. I like the taste as well!
I got a call from my midwife today that they hadn't gotten a clear picture in my last two ultrasounds of my baby's heart (specifically looking to see all 4 chambers) and they want to send me to a specialist for another ultrasound. They've assured me it's nothing to worry about and more precautionary/just to be certain but I was a bit of an emotional wreck after the phone call. The ultrasound isn't scheduled for another 2.5 weeks which I'm taking as a good sign that they aren't seriously concerned about anything being wrong, but it's so hard not be be stressed or worried about it, especially as a FTM.

I've drank it with all of my pregnancies, so I don't have anything different to compare it to.

Ultrasound tech here. This is not an uncommon occurrence. Sometimes baby just isn’t in a good position to evaluate a part of the anatomy, and it’s frequently the heart. The spine is a common one as well. I wouldn’t stress (easier said than done, I know), like they said it’s mostly a precautionary thing. Good luck!
@gingermama26 it took them a couple times to get a clear image of my baby's heart (4 chambers). I was already at MFM for all of my ultrasounds and they couldn't get a clear image until I was 24 weeks. They told me it was normal and not to worry...

jennifer_m21 - I started drinking it (I use organic loose leaf to control how strong it is) during my last four pregnancies during the second trimester, and this time around 30 weeks because I forgot to ask my OB about drinking it while on BP meds, which I got the okay at my last appt. The general guideline is one cup for every trimester and increasing it as you near term. I drink three cups a day right now and four+ as I hit 36+ weeks.

Merry Christmas Eve (to those who celebrate)! May all your relatives have the sense to not ask inappropriate pregnancy questions and keep their uninvited hands off of the bumps!
jennifer_m21 - As a uterine tonic to help tone the uterus, I think it works really well to encourage efficient contractions before and after birth. Though I didn't use it with my first, I had a very fast (3 hours) labor with only a few pushes. My others were much faster. I didn't have issues with keeping the uterus firm after birth to help it contract and control the bleeding. I did have a PPH with my youngest, but it becomes a risk factor after multiple births. I'll likely increase how much I drink to help encourage contractions after the birth to prevent another hemorrhage.

@clc515 My insurance company won’t ship my pump until 30 days before the due date. So I’m hoping I don’t pop early! Hopefully yours gets there safe!
