Re: Why My Pregnant Self is Crying 12/8-12/14

  • The other day on my drive to work I was listening to the Hamilton Soundtrack. For those that aren't familiar there are a couple of sad songs toward the end. When they came on I full on started bawling even though I've listened to that soundtrack like a hundred times without that reaction. That's when I knew the pregnancy hormones were real.

  • I ugly cried this morning when my almost 2 year old DD dropped her cup of cheese doodles all over the floor for the 100th time. That wasn't even what made me cry. While I was picking them up she came over and hugged me and kissed my cheek and said "I'm so sorry Momma! I love you!" Ugh! All the feels!
  • I’m ugly crying because I was talking college volleyball with a co-worker and some students interpreted me bitching about the college team as me bitching about my 8th grade team, and now all the kids hate me.

I haven't lost it yet during pregnancy, but my husband still talks about when I had my IUD removed 7 years ago.

I saw a sign on the Tae Kwon Do studio advertising "Karate for Kids" and mentioned to husband that I found it odd that a Tae Kwon Do studio would teach Karate. He explained that they DON'T teach Karate, but just call Tae Kwon Do Karate, because Americans don't know the difference anyway. I got extremely upset about
    A: False advertising and
B: That Americans don't know the difference because of stupid things like that sign.

When my husband didn't immediately agree with me, but tried to instead point out how much it didn't matter, I started bawling.

I'm usually very level headed and rarely cry, so this freaked him out. I'm just waiting for a similar pregnancy incident.

  • @mrsinterweb that soundtrack makes me cry not pregnant! Even after many many listens. Although I think I permanently became more weepy during my last pregnancy. Haven’t cried yet, though.

  • I cried yesterday because it snowed. I’m in Texas and it snows here like once every 10 years. But I’ve never cried over it before. DH definitely made fun of me. Lol.
  • My kids are pushing me to the limit this morning, I'm so tired and nauseous and they are being so naughty, demanding and whiney. I snapped and yelled over a spilled drink and then promptly felt like the most horrible mom ever and started crying. I apologized and hopefully we can all take a nap soon and try this again.
  • @LC12261012 sorry lady! Rough morning here, too. Leap maybe? Mags is on a roll the last couple days!

I cried yesterday because our car wouldn't start again and I started wondering wtf I was thinking bringing another kid into this situation. Then started panicking about said car's chances of starting when it comes time to get to the hospital. Looks like we'll be saving for more than just the deductible, this round...
I'm thrilled at the idea of my kids being so close in age, but am feeling irresponsible too, since dropping down to part time when DD was born has really put a burden on DH to pick up overtime, etc.

Also, I burned my last bagel. Cue the ugly crying  :#
  • I cried last night because I was craving my favorite nachos from a Mexican restaurant we go to for date nights, but queso and Mexican cheeses are on the can't-eat list.

We ended up making our own nachos with homemade pasturized cheese queso. It was good but it wasn't the same :( so I cried again lol.
  • ^^^ I ate my weight in queso last week. Oops
  • As long as the cheese is pasteurized you can have it.

Can totally relate to all of this. It's so easy to get stressed over finances and such. It sucks.
  • Well, I finally cried this afternoon after my son has the most embarrassing tantrum ever and I almost missed my friend’s wedding. The MOTB asked my mom if all grandchildren were this way

Sorry, FTMs, that’s what you have to look forward to in a couple years... He is sweet the majority of the time, but sometimes when he doesn’t get his way.... :scream:

  • @Firemanswife11 That is hilarious!!!
I absolutely lost it all yesterday afternoon. My parents took L for a week, so we could finish unpacking and have some nice time with E. So everything I see, that reminds me of L, set me off. His sippy, his dinner bowl in the sink, folding his laundry, making his bed . . .  I just couldn't handle that my 'big baby' was gone and I had let him go.

I was at the gym and the song Rise by Skillet, at the end plays some real broadcast and 911 phone calls. It’s a little hard to listen to already but yep couldn’t do it this morning. Then on the TV was a Salvation Army commercial and I thought about the fact I keep forgetting my toys for tots contribution.

  • I cried reading about the NY bombing this morning.

And then again while on the phone with a nonprofit event my company is looking to sponsor, that benefits guests who are disabled and don’t get celebrated often enough. Thank god I wasn’t leading it and I could just mute myself.

Stuck in the quote box but as a fellow Texan I think most queso is okay. Like for example Kerbey Lane queso (one of my faves) is just "organic whole milk, American cheese, onions, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers and cilantro" according to their website, so totally fine. I guess the only potential concern is really authentic Mexican places that use queso fresco or cotija in theirs, but you can always ask!

  • @legallykate me either! I don’t generally cry often, but I keep waiting for it! I guess I’m an emotionless monster too hahaha.
  • @Firemanswife11 I am pretty sure I cried from the exact same polar bear video!! My husband had to calm me down... but seriously that video was so sadddd!
  • @ecwk I’ve cried over that several times already too. It always starts from a guilt side though, like I’m going to rock DS’s world and he’s going to hate me. But then it comes around to him becoming an amazing brother and bffs for life

So true. It does make me sad that he will no longer be the only child, he is  the absolute center of our universe and he knows it. I think the adjustment will be hard because he is such a mama's boy but like you said - bffs for life. I think my heart will explode seeing him with a baby sibling!

full disclosure:  I would cry pregnant or not! lol
  • There's a lame commercial about a woman making a tree that was important to her parents into a dining table for them. I'm not an emotional person at all, so when that made me cry, I knew it was time to take a pg test.

    My husband licked my face.

I normally laugh when he does this because it’s gross and freaks me out. This time I started hysterically crying.  That was a reaaaaaaaal weird moment for me.
  • My doctor won't be calling me until tomorrow and I'm barely holding it together in the nail salon right now. I just want my damn bloodwork back.

  • I had a good cry in the Dollar General parking lot because I was craving Spagettios and I realized my husband didn't like them and would probably starve for dinner (not really, he can forage on leftovers).

Even I can't hide from the absurdity of that after the fact.
  • I think tomorrow will be my day to cry. It’s the only day I have to get presents wrapped before Christmas since I work all weekend and I have literally nothing done. I feel overwhelmed just thinking about it. And the fact that I have to work the entire holiday makes me want to cry!
