Re: TTTC Checkin 12/19/2017

  • So I've been on the Lupron for 4 days now and no headaches (hurray!) which is a big relief.  That was the one thing I was really worried about.  I do think it is making me a little more tired than normal, but not as bad as when I was on Letrozole.

In other news, I think I'm going to have to unfollow a couple of DH's relations on facebook for the duration.  The one just celebrated her little ones first birthday at some kind of gymnastics place (big eye roll) and posted about 70 pictures of it.  No offense to anyone out there that feels otherwise, but I'm not the type for big elaborate parties for infants......I mean the kid can't even walk yet and you do a party at a gymnastics place????  Whatever.

The other one is the cousin that I had mentioned earlier that I talked to after she mentioned they had been "having trouble" conceiving after only several months and is now pregnant.  Well she posted on facebook today her "first trimester truths".  I'm trying not to let this kind of stuff bother me and focusing on IVF.....but it put me in a bit of a bad mood this morning.

As I said, I may need to unfollow them for the duration for my own sanity.

QOTW: Fur babies are doing good!  Our dog continues to have more trouble with her hips due to her age and she is covered in fatty deposits (I've started calling her my lumpy lab).  And the cat is same old, same old...definitely enjoying some tree water.  I've always wondered what the attraction is.....maybe it tastes sweet because of the sap?

I have been terrible about keeping up on threads - sorry everyone. I got a head cold on Week 2 at my new job, gave it to DH, then we limped through our weekend of decorating for the holidays. And we saw Star Wars!

CD10 and I am debating whether or not to bother with opks for the holidays :/ I have been unlucky lately with timing. Even if I decide the time, I wonder how likely it would be that I get a positive with my history. But then I remind myself that the big 3-5 is next month...

QOTW: My two furbabies, Siamese Tabby mixes, are recovering from the injustice and cruelty of carpet steaming and deep cleaning in preparation for company this weekend. They aren't yet aware of the assault on their domain...

I also have a finbaby, a Betta, who I find charming. He is easy to please and so nice to watch swim around. With his fishy eyeballs and slightly judgmental gaze.

Edit: According to my ovulation app (which may not be terribly accurate) I am supposed to ovulate 35 days before my 35th birthday. O_O

  • Hey everyone, 10dpt, 9dpo, and 8dpiui.
Well I have been testing out my trigger shot so that way i know when i test for the real thing it will be a true result not a false one.
Well the past 2 days I have gotten negative on internet cheapie hpts, so now I am testing on First Response until it's negative so when I test this weekend it will be a real result.
Well yesterday on First Response, there was a squint faint like.. So I was like "okay the trigger is still in my system, no big deal". Well this morning on First Response, I got an even darker faint line than yesterday, you didn't even have to squint, it's there, my hubby and my bestfriend was like "oh ya that's darker", well my thought is now.... "shouldn't it get lighter not darker since I am only 10 days past trigger?" It's too early for a real result.

    Now I am all confused.

I am really trying to wait until the morning to test again, and if it stays the same or get darker then I know I really am, but if it gets lighter then I know it's the trigger
  • Hi everyone, new girl in town here.  I've been TTC off and on since 2013.  A divorce in 2015 and recent remarriage and back to TTC.
Bad tubes, poor egg quality, 1 mc, several failed IVF attempts, including most recently in September. Anyway...we finally got an embryo and did a FET.  I was confirmed last Thursday at 7w0d with a heartbeat of 124.  Before then I couldn't admit I was pregnant due to the extensive let downs I've experienced in the past.  I still worry - since I'm considered high-risk (due to FET) I'm so scared to see my 9w u/s.
It's like I was traumatized from prior IVF attempts and haven't been able to enjoy the excitement of the early stages....
Does anyone have suggestions for how to handle this?  I worry if I don't feel cramping, but then I get nervous if I do.  I haven't had much for symptoms, and taking progesterone injections apparently causes some of the pregnancy symptoms.  And, I don't have any backup frozen embys which makes me a bit sad too.  I am so thankful that it finally worked....but how do I get past the trauma and enjoy this and be excited about it??

  • @Knottie1467155066 that sounds optimistic....FX and can’t wait to get an update tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

I am really trying not to get my hopes up, but am having a lot of symptoms and just have that “feeling.”  I’ve had three early pregnancies so it all feels really familiar to me now.  I’m only 6dpo (ish...OPKs weren’t super helpful) but I’m really going to try to wait to POAS until this weekend!

Furbabies are good!!!!! We have a 9 year old lab, Atticus...a 1 year old golden doodle, Radley...and a 8 year old kitty, Calpurnia (big fans of To Kill a Mockingbird, haha) They’re all enjoying this warm up we’re having in Florida this week, we are weenies in the cold!

  • In a TWW status... Due to the PCOS I have no clue when I ovulate. Last cycle was 37 days so the First Response ovulation app my fertile days were the 13-17. I have no clue if it was even accurate.

SO is helping me revamp my resume. I knoe I just started a new job not long ago and I love it! But, the county just posted a job for an Emergency Preparedness Specialist. I'm in my junior year of college working on a degree in Public Safety and Emergency Managemt. This job would be the absolute perfect entry level job with my current education level. I am super excited about it but not getting my hopes up at all.

Furbabies are good. Took the greyhound in on the 5th for her rabies vaccination and check up. My girl is getting old! They suggested a senior dog pannel and glucosamine for her joints. She is seven and a half. We are still working on bonding pur sugar gliders. They are doing well!

  • Not side why the Bump cut me off but QOTW- we lost our pit bull after a 6 month cancer battle in June and it was awful. My 12 yrs old lab LOVES that he's an only dog again and made it clear we should not get a puppy when my coworker brought her puppy to work today

  • Thank you everyone for your kind words, took another test this morning, negative cheapie, but still faint positive on first response, it has lighten up from yesterday morning's test.
But that's okay, atleast I know now it's still trigger.
I find it weird still having the trigger still in me 11dpt... I'll just keep testing every morning and pray that it goes back a strong positive. Thank you again :)
    xoxo
  • @tops-2 YAY I am so excited for you!  I can’t imagine how nervous you are...I’ve said before that I’m just as nervous about getting a positive as I am about getting a negative...but we still fight on!!!!!  I have my fingers and toes crossed that this is it for you!!!!  ***TW Somebody on this board told me last year when I was spotting with one of my pregnancies, to repeat “I’m pregnant today and I love my baby” to myself, and it really helped!!!!!

Afm, I caved and POAS this morning, haha.  Those things own me.  I had one FRER that came with my OPKs and just couldn’t help myself.  It was of course BFN.  I think I’m only 6 or 7dpo, haha.  I go from being positive that I’m having symptoms to feeling stupid bc I couldn’t have even implanted yet????? My body is a mystery to me!  Now that I don’t have any tests in the house I can try to relax haha, I will try to wait until Christmas Eve to test!

  • Thank you @BWhitta
AF is supposed to be here Christmas day, So I'll know one of these day's if this cycle happened for me or not.
  • It's looking like I'm out.  BFN today (11DPO), and I started spotting.  I'm expecting full AF tomorrow.  I'm just kind of numb.  I was so sure this one would take--our numbers were so great.  IF sucks, man.

QOTW: Our kittens are fantastic.  We have a 13-pound blonde one (Thor) and a smaller black-and-white one (Daphne).  We've been through every-3-hour-feedings with Thor (we got him when he was just 8 days old), ringworm with Daphne (terrible animal shelter), and we lost another kitten a few years ago (Annabelle) when she was only a year old.  We never would have thought we were cat people, but Thor came into our lives and changed everything.  Now they have their own Christmas stockings and we talk to them like they're people.   :D  We truly could not have made it through these last few years without them.   <3

  • @lablover78 Your lab is beautiful!!!  And its awesome that the IVF will work with your schedule in January - sometimes things are meant to be!!

@tops-2 Congrats!!!  Keeping my fingers crossed for you!  I can only imagine how stressful the next few weeks will be but try and enjoy it a little if you can and stay positive, hopefully that US will give you the relief you need to be super excited!!  It sucks that the first trimester can't be more stress free (especially for those who have been at this for awhile) but hopefully soon you'll be breezing right into the 2nd trimester and enjoying your pregnancy!

@bwhitta I totally hear you on the early testing!  I finally just bought a bunch of internet cheapies so at least I wasn't wasting tons of money.  Though that kinda backfired as I ended up second guessing any negatives with "well if i used a first response" lol.

@soehlerk I'm right with you - started spotting yesterday and full period started this morning :-( I had myself convinced I would end up with a positive this month too!

AFM - CD1 here - I was so convinced I was getting a positive this month - but it wasn't meant to be.  My DH comforted me a bit telling me that this was why we are doing IVF in a few months and that IVF will be even better for us than natural because we can freeze any (hopefully) extra embryos and use them down the line when we want to get pregnant again.  He's been a huge support and while I know he doesn't "get it" like a woman can, he definitely tries his best.  I'm an emotional mess today, PMS and just sadness.  Trying to get over it to have a nice Christmas which I think i'll be able to, its just going to take a little.  We are decorating our tree tonight so I'm hopeful that will turn my spirits around a bit, I love doing that.

Fur babies - we've got an almost one year old mixed puppy (they told us she was rat terrier... she's now almost 40lbs so def. terrier, just not sure about the rat lol).  She is a hand ful but we love her to pieces.  She loves getting to spend time with her cousins (my sister in laws dogs and my husbands moms dog) and she loves to cuddle.  She curled up on my last night and just was super cute.  I definitely needed that!
  • Hey guys, I missed last week. I was watching the thread and kept meaning to write something myself, but didn't get to it. And I only realized this morning when I saw a girl wearing grey leggings as pants and thought: "Oh right, regrettable fashion trends!" LOL.

Not much new for me, just waiting for AF to begin FET#2. The holidays are tough. I love my family, but I've been spending time with my sisters and their babies, and it just feels so unfair. I've been TTC for more than 2 years now, we're unexplained, we seem and look totally healthy, and still... nothing. I know a lot of us are in the same boat here; this boat sucks. I'm just glad I've found some others, and I'm not lost at sea alone. :)

@GoldenKeys - I think it is so sweet that you stalk the graduates. :)

@hoffmanr7 - our lab has a lump! We're going to the vet tomorrow. Now that I've seen your post, hoping his is just a fatty deposit! I too think first birthday parties are lame. At least make it something fun for the parents!
    Unfollow at will!

    @BenJay - I hate birthdays. :(

@lablover78 - your lab is adorable! We had to put our cat down earlier this year. It was so brutal - I'm sorry about your pit bull.

    @soehlerk - I'm sorry for the BFN.

@thothscribe81 - Boo to AF. But I'm excited for your IVF!

Hoping we get a couple more BFPs before Christmas! Something to celebrate!
    Congratulations to our recent BFPs!

  • @funkykey If you look at her left shoulder, there's two large lumps you can see.  There also is a baseball sized lump on her belly (in here you will see it right behind her left elbow).  We've had both on the shoulder checked, along with a couple of others she has elsewhere on her body.  For the most part they haven't bothered her.  We are noticing now that some mornings she has trouble picking up her head and we think its a lump she has near there but once she stretches out a bit she's fine.

Most labs just tend to get fatty lumps as they get older.  She also has a bunch of little skin tags all over.  I'm sure your pups lump will be the same but I will keep my fingers crossed for you :)

(This is her hunting for mice/moles while we were out looking for a Christmas tree, btw)

  • Hi all! I’m late to the party because we’re already out at my in-laws for Christmas. Still waiting for AF. I know she’s coming, but she’s 3 days late with just a bit of spotting each day. *TW* Dr. Google tells me that a wonky cycle following a CP is normal, but I’d love for it to just end already. *end TW*

Also working out the financials for our next IVF cycle with my clinic. So that’s been fun.

    @tops-2 CONGRATULATIONS!!

@soehlerk and @thothscribe81 I’m sorry about the failed cycles. It never gets easier. Hugs to you both!

@BenJay I’m rounding the corner on 35 in April; I’m sorry it’s upon you next month. Not sure about you, but I don’t think it would bother me except it’s like this barrier that the reproductive world has set up and it’s like we’re moving into that tier of needing to be more aggressive. If that makes any sense. And of course the whole “biological clock ticking” thing and not being able to do anything about it. Anyway, lots of hugs!

    Knottie1467155066 Good luck!

@BWhitta It’s definitely easier said than done not to get your hopes up, especially with your history so you know what symptoms you’ve had in the past. I won’t even tell you not to symptom spot. Hopefully these are for real symptoms and not your mind/body messing with you!

@eranvo27 Good luck with your application!

@lablover78 First, I’m impressed that you have your own practice! Second, AMAZING on the timing! Also, your puppers is adorable. I want a dog but DH (and my landlord, haha) says no in our apartment.

@funkykey I’m sorry you’re having a hard time with the holidays. Forced socialization with people with babies is the worst. IF is a terrible boat to be in, and I know that especially after a failed transfer it feels like you will never see that second line. Is your RE changing your protocol at all for your next FET? Sorry about the holidays. So many hugs!! Also I hope the lump is just fat!

BTW I thought of you and @BenJay because my MIL and I had a cookie backing spree yesterday. No baking fails, alas, but definite diet fails. “I’ll only have one,” I said, and proceeded to eat four.

QOTW We got a kitten in September, the injustice of which our 8-year-old adult cat has not yet recovered from. Both cats LOVE DH, so they are currently battling over who gets him as her human. The kitten is winning because it turns out the adult cat is not an alpha cat. We constantly admonish her for giving in to a kitten, but her English skills are lacking.

  • @hoffmanr7 - what a cutie!! She looks great! Ours has a couple of skin tags too. It feels like he was just a puppy!

@Bababatty - it's definitely not forced. I love my sisters and my nieces and nephews. I just have twinges sometimes like, "I wish I had my own baby."
  • @Bababatty- I have to come up with a happy alternative to moping about my perceived "expiration date" for my eggs. ;) It will likely be drinking.

And OMG, dieting fails ftw. I brought cookies to the work potluck and I was super excited that hardly anyone had any. Leftovers for meeee!

I didn't bake this year since I have really restricted my diet - doing the low carb thing and so far, down 7 lbs. - but, I couldn't skip booze this year. Yep, 6 quarts of traditional egg nog. 2 cups Brandy, 2 cups rum, 2 cups bourbon. Oh and tons of eggs and cream. Wreck them halls!!

  • Hey ladies! Once again I have failed in keeping up this week.  :s I have family in town staying with us for thand holidays so I’ll blame it on that this time.

@hoffmanr7 I have totally unfollowed people on Facebook for that reason. I think it’s a perfect valid reason and if it makes you feel any less upset/anxious/any other negative emotion then you should do it.

@BWhitta I have my FX for you! I am also in Florida, and it has definitely been very warm this week. I am a weenie in the cold too lol I had a few people ask me last week how I liked the cold and I was like “I don’t” haha I am too Florida Girl for this 40 degree weather nonsense.

@eranvo27 That is exciting about the potential job, I hope that works out for you!

@lablover78  that’s awesome that your schedule will work out! Also, love the dog picture!

@tops-2  Congrats! So glad your numbers went up!

@soehlerk sorry about thI BFN :(  Its so frustrating when everything looks perfect and it just doesn’t work. Like, wtf.

    @thothscribe81 sorry for CD1 :(

@funkykey hugs girl. Hang in there <3 when do you expect AF?

@Bababatty it always feels so weird to say this, but FX that AF shows up soon for you.

AFM: We have our final IVF consult today. Also my meds arrive today, eeeeek! I’m a little nervous about that. I think I might see how much it is and freak out a little. Although, since we are OOP I already freaked out a little about the cost of the meds  :/  AF should arrive around 12/30 or 12/31, so I will find out today I guess if we are good to go for January or have to wait until February. My RE has been very flexible with my irregular cycles/lack of being able to go on BC to control when AF shows up so I am PRAYING that he says we can proceed this next cycle.

QOTW: my furbaby is great! I have a golden retriever and he really brings us a lot of joy and entertainment. I put a picture in the spoiler box if anyone wants to see him! I may be biased, but I think he’s the cutest, sweetest pup!

Also, I just want want to say to all of you that I know the holidays can be hard, they are hard for me too. Take care of yourselves and give yourselves permission to protect your heart even if that means skipping out on some family time. I know it’s frustrating that IF takes so much from us, but do what you need to do to practice self care.
  • Update: So I had a negative yesterday morning, but on a whim after work yesterday evening I took a first response and omg a clear as day faint line! I was jumping up and down, showed the husband, he was excited. But this morning I took another test to see it darken...  Well this morning it was negative? How is that possible?
I'm so confused, I think I am crazy, my husband keeps telling me I am not and that it was a positive test yesterday no questions asked. So why was it negative this morning?!
    I am 13dpt, 12dpo, and 11dpiui.

I ended up calling my doctor and BEGGING for a blood test to get done today before the holidays, and sure enough they had me come in this morning.

I am so scared it will come back negative and then I look like I am crazy. But honestly I rather find out now then keep peeing on sticks and seeing all those negatives and stressing all weekend... Because we all know those negative hpt gets everyone down.

I should know by the end of the day if the lab isn't too backed up from the holiday's.

Please keep your fingers crossed for me.
  • ***TW*** I POAS this morning and I never do that. For the first time ever I got what you girls call a squinter——whaaaat?? I woke up DH for him to look and he confirmed. I called my Re for a beta & apologized for being bat shit cray. They close at noon today so they’ll call me in an hour. I honestly More just need someone to tell me it’s a no so I don’t drive myself crazy all weekend and can mentally prepare for starting IVF Jan 12th. @Knottie1467155066 I feel you girl and hope you get that BFP confirmed!!!

So so glad I have you ladies to share my cray cray with because no one else would understand xoxo

  • @lablover78
I am seriously going to feel so stupid if it comes back negative. But I need to know because i'll be driving myself crazy all day.
  • @Knottie1467155066 I get it, but we need to worry about ourselves first and foremost. I am sure we are not the first ones to do this. Crossing everything for you girl!!

  • /Knottie1467155066 and @lablover78! I’ve got everything crossed for you today!!
  • @lablover78 when will you find out your results?

I called the office to double check if they are open all day or not, and they closed at noon. But she said she did 2 test with my serum from my blood and they both came back negative.
She told me to call the lab in a couple of hours to see what they real results are.

    I have no hope now.

    & thank you @Bababatty

  • @Knottie1467155066 - I'm sorry. IF is brutal. :( Maybe the FRER picked up on a little bit of your trigger? Sometimes too, at different times of day, your urine has different concentrates. The HPTs can be such a mindf*ck. I swear, I will hate Clearblue until the day I die.

@lablover78 - keeping FX for you.

@Bababatty - Sorry, my last post got cut off. I've been having problems with TB lately - I think the ads I'm seeing are buggy and slowing it down. My protocol is not changing, and I want one of your cookies. :) Merry Christmas! I hope the next couple of days are good to you! What a tough year you've had!!!

@Kim41313 - exciting that you have your meds! Will they suppress you before you start stimming? I hear you on the cost though. At the end of the year, I always go through our yearly spending and see what our big expenses were in preparation for tax time. IF was a huge expense for us this year! It really adds up!

@BenJay - good for you on sticking to the diet! My DH did low carb for a while and lost a bunch of weight! But it's hard - even when you like fats and veggies and all of that - he'd have dreams about pizza. Also, he found alcohol would hit him way, way harder while he was totally Atkins. Like, he'd have a vodka soda and be wasted.

Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone! Hang in there!

  • @lablover78 congrats! FX for a good second beta!!

    @Knottie1467155066 :(  hugs to you.

@funkykey No,  they won’t surpress me. Which is kind of scary since he explained today that that *could* cause me to only develop a few follicles quickly since they were already dominant. He said he doesn’t think that will happen, but we all know that things don’t always go the way you think they will, so I am trying to keep that in the back of my mine. With it being the first cycle we don’t really know what to expect or how I’ll respond so we will just have to see how it goes! As far as the financial aspect of all of this, will you be able to deduct any of the expenses on your taxes? We actually paid for the IVF cycle today so that we could use it towards our medical expenses deductions for this year.
  • @lablover78 - I must have posted while you posted! Great news, congratulations!!!!

@Kim41313 - we're going to deduct as much as we can, but obviously, I'd rather have the cash! LOL! I hated paying for IVF, glad as I am that the technology exists.

  • Omg @lablover78!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am so excited for you, eeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!!!! I have everything crossed for you!!!!!!!!!!!

@Knottie1467155066 I have been where you are SO many times  HPTs are brutal, I wish we could stay away from them until our periods are late.  And I hate that they say you can tell 6 days before your missed period bc that’s just not always true.  I have gotten so many false positives and evaporated lines on different brands...but I will say, yours looks clear as day to me.  That’s brutal and I’m sorry!  Did you get the real results back yet?

AFM, I’m 9dpo (I think) and POAS this morning.  I just really want to know either way before Christmas even though I know that might not be possible.  Well I *think* I’ve got a squinter...but I am well aware it could go either way.  Definitely not getting my hopes up yet but I will probably head to the dollar store this afternoon for some $1 tests and pick up a digital just in case I need something to put in my husbands stocking!  FX.

  • @lablover78 - congratulations!!!!
@knottie1467155066 - sorry about the BFN. I had a similar situation happen to me back in July and I'm not sure what happened exactly. However, I stopped using FRER and blue dye tests because of it.
@BWhitta - FX that the squinter keeps getting darker!!!

AFM: I'm late checking in for this round as I didn't have access to the internet for the past few days. I'm CD 29/ 11DPO with a BFN yesterday. I'm holding out retesting until the 27th because at that time AF should be there. Sometimes I drive myself crazy peeing on sticks.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!
