Random: eagerly waiting for an update from @KLake42, she was going to be induced last monday(11th dec)... I guess... Hope she and Lo is doing well.. Also prayers and good wishes for today @chiknnuggetrubin
@maueraa07 - It is not sinking in for me that Christmas is in a week. I mean, we've got all of the presents and most of them are wrapped and the house is decorated and we've been watching Christmas movies but I don't know it just doesn't feel like it's that close for some reason?
I keep telling myself that we just have to get through christmas then we need to get EVERYTHING together for this baby and it will be fine and everything will be done before she gets here. Pack bags, order last min things, etc. But then I'm also having recurring dreams that while on the way to christmas or this week I'll go into labor. Not sure if it's just because it's soooo close to the time (34 weeks) or because she's so low so I feel like she's ready! Going to a scan Thursday and seriously I keep dreaming that at the scan my dr says soooo you have been in labor all day and dilated and you need to go to the hospital now! And I will have nothing packed or ready for her!
@conineml I'm in the same place - we have most of the individual objects we need but nothing is actually packed/set up, and I'm worried about getting sent from an appointment straight to the hospital. I'm 36+2 now and DS went to 40+3 so I'm pretty sure this is all irrational but ugh.
I think we are going to have 4-5 babies come this week in this group and I'm SO excited!!!
We had my MIL watch DD for 4 hours yesterday and we finished pretty much everything. I feel so relieved to get some of the stuff done. And Bonus both car seats fit in my car the way I wanted them, score
@maueraa07 SO got up at 5 this morning to get ready for work and I shot up out of bed (ok, that is giving myself way too much credit ) and freaked out that we HAVE to go shopping this week to finish getting Christmas gifts ready. I was totally in denial, but it is only a week away and now I am stressing out!
@bainidhedub I think that is what is compounding my fears! That I will not be at home to gather the stuff I need and DH will have to go back to the house and get everything...which means half the shit we will need he "won't be able to find" or something lol it would just be way easier if I could do it myself when the time comes! Love him but half the time he can't find what he's looking for (that he put up somewhere) because it's under something or just not right in front of his face. I can just imagine how my list would look of things he would need to get...it would have to include descriptions of what it looked like and where it was...Lord help me if that happens lol
I am also not prepared for Christmas. I still have presents to get for my nice and nephews. I usually do an activity/adventure with them instead of toys but I haven't researched at all or scheduled with my SIL. DH and I agreed not to do presents this year since we got new vehicles (we both had 14 year old vehicles that require too much money to repair). So that is a relief but I still want to get him something for his birthday, which is after Christmas.
I also haven't watched any Christmas movies or gone to see any Christmas lights. I feel like I'm an unintentional scrooge this year.
I officially feel like the worst wife ever. DH has been working on completing a novel for the past 3 years, and finished the second draft about 2 months ago. I'm about half way through it, and I've been struggling to read it.... not because it is bad, I've actually really enjoyed it, but because right now all I can mentally handle is light hearted novels. His book does not fall in that realm. Anyway, he basically was in a bad mood tonight and after coaxing it out of him, he is really disappointed by my lack of enthusiasm over the novel and having not finished it yet. So now I feel super shitty and unsupportive... I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow.
@darkrose88 Oh that's a hard one. Poor DH and poor you. I've tried reading multiple books this pregnancy and I just CAN'T GET INTO THEM. I usually read a ton (before having DD it was 50+ books per year) but I haven't read ONE this year. Not one.
@missblaze I'm glad it isn't just me who has struggled with reading this preganancy. I have several other half finished books out there, including one by my favorite author... I told DH not to take it personally, since I've been doing this with many books lately. But I think he is also upset as OP (like one of his best friends and his mom) haven't read it or given feedback. DH wants to become a professional author, so I can see why this would disappoint him.
@darkrose88 I would almost try to sell it as you care SO much about the book and his awesome potential that you can't get into it until you can give it your FULL attention. Does that make sense? Like compare it to Finnegan's Wake or The Brother's Karamazov (those two come to my mind from personal experience)--sometimes the BEST literature requires complete focus etc. and you can't give that to anything in life right now. Also, hilarious story: I brought Jonathan Franzen's PURITY with me to the hospital when I had DD. LOL! As if I was going to read it... BUT when I was home with her for the following weeks, I read that and more... so easy to read when snuggling a newborn--so you will get back to it!
@EmilyLove25 so I was wondering if I was naive in my thoughts that I would be reading a ton or binge watching netflix with a newborn! Good to know I'm not crazy! Anyone want to start a thread about what to read/watch during maternity leave? It could be fun
@EmilyLove25 That's a good point! I've been struggling to get through baby books right now and they should be top priority given how little time we have left. I hope once LO is born I get my focus back!
This weekend was my mom's big family Christmas party, and my cousin brought her 5 week old daughter. DS (3) saw her sleeping in the car seat and immediately asked, "Is that my baby brother?" Umm no buddy, baby brother is still right here in my belly.
@cyanope Ha, true... starving but with an end in sight is better than a further away ending. I do have to work a few hours tomorrow, but I can do it from home (THANK GOD).
@EmilyLove25 - Oh no! In my case I brought lunch but I don't want it. I have no idea what I want but not what I brought but it's also pouring down rain and I don't want to go anywhere and delivery options are limited.
@TInman87, I would be too...except I'm a teacher, and Winter break starts on Friday. That's the ONLY reason I'm leaving early! I was in labor on my last day of teaching with DD, so I went until the end that time around. Glad things worked out this time that I get at least a bit of time (unless this kid comes this week) before the big day!
Y'all... I am about to leave! Boss told us we could leave early since our systems are not working. I just cleaned out my office as much as I could and OMG! It's weird with the holiday coming and everything, but holy heck this is getting real (as they say). I have to do some work tomorrow but NO commute and NO ALARM CLOCK!
This is making me SO excited for my last work shift tomorrow night!
Is anyone else having trouble driving lately? I have trouble getting my seatbelt on, and then trying to check my blind spots?!? It's just not happening. I mentioned it to DH last night and he offered to drive me to the rest of my appointments and pick up DD and I for her 18 month appt next week, and I think I might take him up on it, especially since we're supposed to be getting some snow in the next few days.

Stuck in a box: yes, i am having the same seatbelt and blind spot checking issues, and i cannot see to reverse with my seat belt on. I've also had to move my chair back a bit and can still touch the pedals but not as much as i normally do.
@schaze yes to the driving. Mine is a combination of physical limitations and pregnancy brain. I failed at parallel parking (two spots long) this morning. Thankfully it was super early and no one was around to see me.
It's just ALL too much work at this point. My SIL just informed me that a family friend would be at christmas... I said great that means I have to get dressed... I'm living in pjs when I'm not at work.
I had gone to every other day showering but since I'm getting closer I want to shower everyday so if my water breaks and I have to go straight to the hospital I at least showered since labor could be long. But I'm also annoyed with blow-drying and styling my hair.
@burnsmommy27 Ok, yes! So glad I'm not alone. I've been going every three days. My past self is so disgusted at current me but I just can't get motivated to go it any more frequently. DH have all but stopped having sex so what's the point? Lol.
@kelk5 I am SO with you on the blow-drying. Ugh. My plan is to just use the shower in the birthing room if I feel gross when I arrive at the hospital lol
Ummm yes to this @burnsmommy27! While showering isn't terrible, the washing my hair and blowing it dry are just not things that can I handle right now. Dry shampoo for the absolute win (and a hair appointment on Saturday lol)! If you need some and have dark hair like me (I have tried EVERY brand I swear) Batiste makes a divine dark that is legit the best thing on the market haha! I was just thinking this morning that I don't know the last time I actually washed my hair and honestly I am totally okay with it! Hahahaha!
Showering is exhausting! I really want to shave my legs too because they're getting so itchy (haven't shaved since maybe October?) but I know if I try I will really regret it..
