Re: Weekly Symptoms 12/11

  • Pukes.  Still so much of the pukes.  :(

  • Eff the nausea meds the doctor gave me. They make me an anxious, super bitch who just happens to be very sleepy. I’ll take nausea over irrationally angry.

  • @Austenista what kind did they give you?  Zofran seems to work best for me of the ones I have tried but it does cause constipation.
  • @Miz_Liz @Austenista I am so sorry you ladies are still dealing with the nausea crap :(@Austenista Hopefully they can prescribe you something else!  It took my body a little bit to get used to the Dicelgis, and now I feel "mostly" normal.

  • OB has me taking Diglegis and Reglan together. I have an appointment tomorrow and I’ll mention it. I’m still hoping it’s going to just go away on its own really soon.

  • @Austenista I would definitely get a “just in case” prescription.  Hopefully you get relief soon but sometimes the nausea never goes away (mine lasted the whole pregnancy with both of my other kids) :(.
  • I know people have mixed feelings about chiropractors but I sought one out recommended by a local moms group and also has been in practice for a very long time. After about 3-4 days my sciatic pain is pretty much gone! Now just wondering when I’ll have energy again.
  • @glitterfingers I'm tempted to find a chiro. My hip started hurting during my last pregnancy.  I ended up being diagnosed with snapping hip and bursitis before I got pregnant this time. It got better with physical therapy, but the pain is back again (especially when laying on my side to sleep).  I'm hopefully a chiro could help with some adjustments.
  • @glitterfingers @marcus7676 there are some really good chiropractors, and some really bad ones. If you want the same ~~experience, but with less risk, search out a osteopath that does "manual manipulation" instead. They go through a lot more training (they're actual doctors; DOs instead of MDs) and are less likely to accidentally injure you/more knowledgeable in terms of what's safe in the longterm. They can be a little difficult to find since there are a lot of DOs that are just regular doctors and don't do the manual manipulation stuff, but it's a safer bet.
  • @doxiemoxie212 - I took DS to a chiro when he was a NB due to nursing issues. She specializes in kids and prenatal / postnatal.  She was amazing with him, so I'd probably just go back to her.
  • Anyone else having random sharp/stabbing pain in the breasts? My boobs are already up a cup size but I don't remember this pain with DS.
  • @TravelingCouple omg yes. I didn't experience it last time, either. My other new thing this time is joint pain.  Anyone else? I'm well hydrated,  but my knees are killing me.
  • @TravelingCouple not stabbing breast pain, but I am getting stabbing vaginal pain.
  • @marcus7676 bursitis also runs in my family and it sucks. I  bought this pillow from Amazon and DH tried to steal it so I had to buy him one too but it helps for side sleeping: Sciatic Nerve Pain Relief Knee Pillow by Cushy Form - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A8TPWS2?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

  • Ooh @glitterfingers I need to get that pillow!

  • @Miz_Liz me too. So much puking. Got diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum and the medicine doesn’t always help. Puked for 12 hours last night and had to sleep sitting up.

    Anyone else have horrible heartburn? I never had it this early with my others but this is the worst.

  • So I mentioned this last week that I've been having low back pain like the kind you get when you have your period. At my appointment on Friday the OB was trying to use the doppler but couldn't find the heartbeat, she thinks part of the reason may be that my uterus is tipped back and that would be why I've also had the back pain. So if you're experiencing that, that might be why.

    @TravelingCouple +1 to the stabby boob pain. I was walking around the house the other day trying to move my boob around to make it go away. MH enjoyed it but I did not. Luckily it didn't last too long.

    @doxiemoxie212 I didn't know that about DO's! My cousin is a DO but he specializes in radiology. I am going to ask him about the manual manipulation!

  • @fantasticmrsfox I have horrible heartburn- but I also have GERD so it's a non- pregnancy issue too.  I have gotten really bad about remembering to take my prilosec- but I have taken it 2 days in a row and no heartburn today!

    I am having trouble sleeping already- seems much earlier than with DD.  I'm a stomach sleeper... and while my belly is getting bigger it is still small enough to sleep on, my damn nipples hurt so much that they are an issue getting comfy to sleep.  I have a body pillow to help me but DH and my damn cats keep stealing it.  I forcibly took it from DH in the middle of the night.  I'm so tired... hopefully my body lets me sleep through the night tonight.

  • @jsl82 sorry to hear about your heartburn, but glad you're getting some relief. I've started to develop this gem.... But my OB strongly said no prilosec or pepto. I think it may help better than tums.... You got the okay for prilosec? If so, I'm asking why I can't use!
  • @jsl82 and @stephcat421 yeah my dr told me to take Zantac and it doesn’t touch it. I’ll look into Prilosec
    H. Foxe born October 22, 2013
  • @stephcat421 @jsl82 in general, be careful using drugs like Prilosec for longer than two weeks (and that doesn't mean use for two weeks, stop for a week, and then start back up again) https://www.consumerreports.org/drugs/should-you-stop-taking-that-medication/

    I had to do some PR work on this issue generally (proton pump inhibitor style drugs) a year or two ago because there had been a lot of data coming out about safety. If you scroll down in that link above to the heartburn section it outlines it pretty well.
  • So my 1st OB told me I could continue taking prilosec.  My 2nd OB told me to take Zantac- but I would have to take 4 pills a day... 2 in the morning and 2 at night to get the same relief I get with prilosec.  I actually didn't talk to my current OB about my heartburn- I can bring it up at my next appointment.  I also didn't discuss the low dose asprine I took the first 12 weeks of this pregnancy with her either- so I'm clearly not a great patient.  My 2nd OB had me take the asprine and progesterone during my 1st trimester with DD, so I just started taking it again with this one.  I didn't even meet my current doctor until I was 8 weeks.

    @doxiemoxie212 very interesting- I hadn't heard the connection between prilosec and heart attack/ dementia before.  For me- it's worth the risk.  It really is the only product that truly prevents my heartburn- and I eat 4-10 tums a day when I"m not taking it.  I just really can't remember to take it consistently- I'm honestly amazed  I'm able to remember my thyroid medication.

  • @TravelingCouple, yes to the boob pain. It comes and goes day to day. But a few days ago I was drinking a slushy and I swear I got boob freeze. For about 10 minutes they just felt like rocks and so much pain. Then suddenly it went away again.

  • Sneezing, coughing, moving too quickly is rather harrowing right now. One never knows what will set off the evil RLP.

    So ttma this lightning crotch. I’m going to get very specific. This is the same as last pregnancy where it feels like someone has one of my labia in a vice pinching it. It will release and do it again. Is this the lightning crotch of lore I read about? It feels so mean. Last night I was telling DH about it and kind of felt like crying, like someone was picking on me and I didn’t deserve it, lol.  :D

  • @Austenista I get that sort of vice feeling but like, sort of my clit? Which is just.... so pleasant...
  • @doxiemoxie212 I’m really emotional this morning apparently and when I read that tears sprung to my eyes for you. Ouch.

  • Still nausea but same as usual.

    Got a friggen sinus cold, so I'll be seeing what my pharmacist says I can take. My husband keeps reminding me I can't divorce him on the grounds of he gave me this. {I wanna see proof I can't ....}

    Somewhat tmi but serious question related ....
    so hubby and I were doing stuff and my nipples are super sensitive. I've given him shit about this before, but when he's in a mood he sometimes get playful nippy .... he nipped. I smacked. Felt awful but that nipple seems to be still sensitive {not sore ... just sensitive} No skin broken, not even a mark.

    Questions
    1 - would anything help reduce sensitivity? {nipple cream maybe?}
    2 - is this what breastfeeding is like!? {if so .... count me tf out}
  • Ive had random vagina pains too, but almost like it's coming from inside? Which I know can happen when the baby is big and kicks you but I'm only 12 weeks lol.

    My boobs are heavy and hurt sometimes too. And my nipples are sensitive all of the time. I've had to remind DH that too lol.

    Also, pregnancy glow my ass. My face is filled with pimples! I never used to get breakouts on my forehead and it's so bad there right now. I shouldn't complain because I really didn't have much MS/nausea so this symptom isn't so bad but it's still annoying af.

  • @elsie42 With DD, I had really bad breakouts and the bacne of a 15 year-old. My face hurt all the time. I used a lot of witch hazel.

    @MissKittyDanger I don't have an answer for your first question and the second, I can only speak from personal experience - it isn't exactly the same; similar, but not quite as intense.  For me, BF felt different from DD to DS. Once each child and I got used to each other, the sensitivity decreased.
  • @fantasticmrsfox Ugh 12 hours at night?!  I am so sorry.

    re:  heartburn - anyone having heartburn try drinking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.  It burns at first but with DD it helped me sooo much when nothing else would.
  • @MissKittyDanger I LOL'd so hard at this.  BFing can be painful- but it's nothing compared to BFing while pregnant.  The hormones that are making your nipples so sensitive will decrease once the baby is born.  The first week or two BFing is the most challenging as you & your child are learning how to BF together and you are still a hormonal hot mess.  Once your body calms down and you and LO have found a rhythm it gets much easier.

    As for your 1st question- if you find something let me know.  I"m hoping to be able to continue BFing DD until at least March- but my poor nips are protesting.

  • @jsl82 I was super hesitant on asking - given the back story - but figured someone might have an answer and sometimes back story helps! {I also cried when I realized I smacked my husband pretty hard .... oh hormones!}
    If I find something, I'll remember to let you know! :) I'm going to a maternity store soon and I'm thinking they may have something!
  • @MissKittyDanger my nipples are way more sensitive when pregnant than when just nursing. I’ve definitely slapped MHs hand away for touching them or trying to touch them recently.

    Does anyone here actually have a pregnancy "glow"?
    I feel like it's a myth.
    I just feel like crap 90% of the time, and feel like if anyone is "glowing" they need to share some of the "glowiness".

    I feel like I read that pregnancy glow is literally just the increased blood flow sometimes makes your skin look like you've been working out even when you haven't - which I think makes "glow" the euphemism of the century.
  • @izza2 Maybe? About a month ago my sister (who doesn’t know I’m pregnant) said, “wow your skin looks really radiant.” Idk. I was like “ahh! She can’t know can she?”

    I will say, in my experience last time, beginning around second trimester, my hair was absolutely the fullest, shiniest, cleanest hair I’ve ever had and my nails were longer and healthier than they’ve ever been. My skin was really clear too.

    I’ve not experienced any of that this time yet, but I’m hoping.
