I slept 10 hours last night and it was amazing!!! My mom has the kids for a few more hours so I'm going to try and wrap Christmas presents. That's if I can get off my butt and get everything together.
Just an FYI, if any of you did buy a shirt or were wanting to (I have no idea who did and didn't, so just want to make sure I don't leave anyone out), my dad is placing the order for them on Friday, so they will be printed and then shipped. Just wanted you to know the timeline!
I also started a Caringbridge site if anyone wants to follow the baby's journey before and after birth :-) I am trying to keep it all in one place so I don't flood you guys with a bunch of stuff!
Our work Secret Santa is this week and I always get irrationally worked up about finding a decent gift. This year I've drawn our intern and I know basically nothing about him which makes it worse. Women are so much easier because you can just get bath stuff, chocolate etc and it's probably fine. Any ideas for a mid 20s guy I know little about??
@thunderberry I hate Secret Santas. I feel like I always got stuck with people I didn't know well, and would usually get mediocre gifts in return. What's your price limit? Are gift cards frowned upon? You could always just do an amazon gift card, or something along those lines.

@thunderberry We are doing a white elephant exchange and I had a hard time thinking of something. Is your person a coffee drinker? I ended up getting this for our exchange.
@sandbar517 Our limit is $20. People will sometimes do gift cards, although it is a bit frowned on, but I could probably do that if I get desperate.
@sparklingdiamond I honestly have no idea if he's a coffee drinker or not. Maybe I'll keep an eye out today and tomorrow to see if he has coffee in his hand.

Fun dress socks, coffee gift card, travel coffee mug, nice stationery, hat and mitts, helpful industry book since he's an intern (like one about becoming a leader or something), ummmmmmm chocolate? idk what else
I started taking a magnesium supplements about a week ago and it’s made such a huge difference for me mentally. It’s crazy how a Vitamin or mineral deficiency can impact so many facets in your life. I’m not backed up now, or dealing with hemorrhoids to the same degree. The anxiety issues I was developing and the depression that was starting to creep back in has abated, AND I’m not dealing with insomnia since a couple days into taking it.
Great news @ivyvines6 ! @sandbar517@thunderberry I hate Secret Santa too. I for some reason feel the need to get an awesome gift, like it somehow reflects on me, and it's too much.
DS woke up in a good mood today. Thank goodness. He has been a grump all last week while he was sick. I just need a few more things for Christmas and I'm done. I do NOT want to wrap gifts though. I also said I wasn't going to do Christmas cards and I did them anyway. Damn you holiday special for a local photographer and 50% off walgreens cards. I at least held off buying from Tiny Prints this year.
I haven't been around for a few days. DH was off this weekend and we actually got to hang out as a family for the first time in weeks! It was awesome, except I caught a cold and feel miserable today. Luckily I'm off on Mondays so I sent DD to daycare and am just relaxing at home for the day.
@thunderberry I feel you. I got the person I barely know on my team. She doesn't drink alcohol or caffeine. I ended up at Homesense and was able to piece something together. I went with cozy slipper socks, travel journal and an essential oil balm.
I am so sleepy today! Stupid waking up early. On a happy note though, DS has been consistently staying dry at night lately! Like only one accident in the past almost two weeks!
Randomly re-introducing myself.... I did an intro in the thread back in the beginning, but I think it's been almost 2 months since I logged in and was active?
Going to be a STM, due date of 5/26. I was going through HG pretty badly and dropped off since all my energy was focused on home/work. Then I had some significant gallbladder issues that resulted in a hospital stay and emergency surgery 2 weeks ago. Baby is still thriving, and now that I'm feeling normal and healthy I have the energy to jump back in.
I know this is SUPER random, but I didn't want to make a new thread/intro. I'm looking forward to being more active and participating here!
@thunderberry I like @onesmallcoconut 's idea of something to help him with his future career, like the leadership book or an autobiography of a very successful entrepreneur or CEO. Maybe cufflinks or a tie, although those are kinda boring. Necessary for most jobs, but not exciting presents.
Whelp we’re officially having pizza for dinner. I can’t stand up without crying. I knew I overdid it yesterday between the two shows and not getting home until after 1am, but I didn’t realize how much I’d overdone it until now.
@ivyvines6 eek, that's not good, but be sure to take it easy and take time to heal! wishing you a speedy recovery, and hopefully tomorrow you will wake up feeling better.
@sparklingdiamond I haven't seen any of this season yet. At this point I'm not in the mood to watch zombies so who knows when I'll catch up
@ivyvines6 glad the magnesium is helping but hopefully you get some rest and feel better! I've heard of magnesium being super helpful for a lot of things especially if you take a vitamin d supplement..which I do so I should really start taking magnesium
AFM I threw up on my drive to work this morning! I took all my vitamins/pills on an empty stomach so I'm hoping that's why and this isn't going to be a thing again
@cups4, I knocked out all of our presents that we have right now (21) in an hour and a half. I definitely didn't want to do it.
I put on my favorite Christmas movie, drank sparkling cider, and went to town. Once I got in the groove, it wasn't too bad. And it kept me from ugly crying at the end of the movie.
I told DH if I didn't do it today, I'd do it some weekend day in the basement away from everyone else.

Girl we are living the same life tonight. Pain and pizza.
Hanukkah starts tomorrow night. We're hosting our parents and siblings - 17 people total. I'm trying to finish tidying up and I'm getting started setting up. DH is out getting groceries. I'm going to have to cook while working tomorrow. The cleaning is painfully slow though. I need some company but I assume you've all passed out at 8 as I usually do.
@nanifrog I’m in the same boat. We are hosting about the same amount of people on Wednesday. I’m tired just thinking about everything we need to do the next two days. At least this year we decided to buy the donuts instead of making them.
@mileswithmyles make the donuts?! heck no. MIL buys them usually.
I was thinking of an elaborate menu and then switched gears. I'm making 3 lasagnas, whatever green veggie DH brings home, salad, and Garlic bread. And latkes. I asked everyone to bring latkes too. If it's not enough, we'll order pizza.
@mileswithmyles@nanifrog this might crack you up... My bosses at the dance studio don’t celebrate Christmas, like traditional Christians, and instead follow Jewish holidays. Yesterday before the show one of my bosses went to purchase a Christmas tree and was furious that it didn’t come with the decorations on it. He had no idea. He spent the rest of the morning complaining about Christmas being so expensive and how superior Hanukkah is (still trying to figure out why they don’t make our Nutcracker based around Hanukkah instead of Christmas but whatever)
@nanifrog applesauce is honestly not that hard to make, it just takes forever to peel the apples. We’ve done it every year for the past 8 years or so, so I feel like we can’t give it up. We set the bar too high in our pre-child days.
Mmmmm I love lakes, I made some for lunch on Sunday!
@nanifrog I was asleep by 8:30 and dh let our needy elderly dogs out whenever the pats vs dolphin hand ended last night. So at 4:30 when they're usually pestering me to go out I woke up wide awake and now can't sleep. I can't believe I got about 8 hours of sleep. Normally I'm up at midnight and 4 to let them out. I might even make breakfast this morning!
Happy Hanukkah to everyone that celebrates it! @ivyvines6 and @onesmallcoconut sorry you're both having pain, hope it gets better soon. @mamaimmoos Puppy Dog Pals, ick. My girls love it and I think it's so annoying. Like most kids' shows, but kinda worse. HAHAHAHAHA

So, I saw my MFM yesterday and they decided to keep me on the Preterm Risk Pathway, and want me to start weekly progesterone shots. Womp womp. Better safe than sorry, I guess.

@abhphilly I thought I remembered you talking about doing them, too. That was pretty much how it was presented to me by the MFM. There isn't really any risk associated, and only a possible benefit, so it just makes sense. My previous pregnancy was with twins, which obviously have a higher rate of being born early, but she said there's no way of knowing for sure if their being born early was because they're twins, or if I'm just pre-disposed to have early labor anyway. So that kinda hit home, and made a lot of sense when she put it that way. Not worth the gamble, in my opinion.

This is less of a random and more of a "poor me" moment, but everyone keeps asking me if I've felt the baby move yet, and it bums me out because I haven't. I'm 17w5d, and I've had some moments where I think maybe I've felt it but then think it might just be my stomach doing weird things or wishful thinking. Hopefully something soon .
@okaykoala I can’t remember, is this your first? With DS, I was about 18-20 weeks when I realized I was feeling him move. Try not to feel too discouraged!
@okaykoala don't stress! I'm a STM at 20 weeks and I'm still like: Was that baby or the tacos I had earlier? You're probably not going to get consistent, obvious movement until a bit later in the game... Probably between month 5 and 6. And that's totally normal.
Re: Weekly Randoms- 12/11
I've had the "eyelid twitching" feeling in my left upper abdomen off and on since 4:00 this morning and it's starting to annoy me.
