What is something simple that happened that made your day?

Posted a little early. Thought we could try doing a monthly thread. I used to read a website with short old Tweet lenghthish posts about little things that made people's day. For example:

There's an awesome yellow lab in town who rides around in a classic convertible. I hadn't seen him in months and had started to worry about him. Saw him out cruising around town with the wind in his ears today. IMMD.

I was getting super annoyed at my 7th grade class (I normally teach high school kids so I'm not used to the pre teen hyperness) and was just sort of sitting at my desk scowling at them but then I noticed a kid just sitting in his chair, staring off into space, and VIGOROUSLY picking his nose. For all to see - no shame whatsoever. It was effing hilarious and IMMD.

DS slept in a bit this morning and when we woke up he cuddled with my bump! It was the sweetest thing and definitely made my day!!

My super professional boss (will technically my bosses boss) called me to deliver some hard feedback. nothing unreasonable - just drawing some tough lines in the sand on expectations and deadlines. I told her what we ere doing to meet them and where we had seen progress / where we were still hitting road blocks. She then pushed back harder in those areas. Anyhoo - that's her job and I didn't take it personally at all, I've had a million of these convos before.

She is super considerate of my pregnancy however and has been trying to keep my stress levels down.. she calls right back and as I pick up she cuts me of befor I can even finish saying hello...

"Was i just a total D**k? I hung up and felt like a huge one. I could have communicated that in a better way!"

I laughed so hard. Firstly - she does NOT EVER curse or speak crudely. Secondly, there was no guarantee that I would be the one to pick up the phone. it made me laugh so hard! totally mmd.

My DH and I bought a new refrigerator because ours keeps freezing up and then getting warm so we've wasted so much food!

But we got a new one black Friday and I went to do the paperwork on my lunch today and everything was handled already for me when I got there! And they had this huge, fat cat just hanging around the store named Samsung. He had to have been like 30 lbs lol. Weirdly, IMMD.

The women in my department decided to have a holiday cookie exchange in a couple weeks. We narrowed down the date and it’s ok the calendar. It’s such a fun group, so it made my day that we are doing that. We are all really good friends, but our work schedule make getting together hard.

Got into a staring contest with an infant at a daycare tour today. She was SO SERIOUS and was so determined to stare me down that she even ignored the food she'd been eating in order to glare at me. IMMD.

DD and I were waiting on Daddy to come home and I heard his truck. I looked at her and said do you hear that? She bolted out of the living room saying "I feed cows!" in her sweet 2yr old voice. She loves feeding the cows with her Daddy! So sweet

My fur baby snuggled my bump this morning and "forced" me to stay in bed an extra 5 min this morning. I know his little pea brain doesn't really know what's going on, but still that quiet moment made my day.

If we lived somewhere that wasn't MinnSNOWta and I wasn't due February 23, I would have waited a bit longer but it made more sense for us to do it sooner so we could air the room out with the windows open when we painted and have it done before it becomes -19 degrees no joke.. it gets nasty cold here! lol

@crossfitbabybump, I 100% am on board with you setting it up now. I set mine up with DS 3 months before I was due. I wanted to be sure we were ready. We are planning on setting the crib back up again probably next week and I'm not due until March 26th. Although that's partly so that my niece and nephew have a place to nap when they come for Christmas...But also because I'm ready to start getting the nursery ready again!

@justkeeptrying - yes! we just recently removed the queen sized bed out of the nursery since that's where my family stayed during Thanksgiving. But that's over and so we moved that out ASAP! lol I love sitting in there in my rocker just looking around at her little clothes all washed and hung up. And now the crib, that I'm sure she won't sleep in for MONTHS, lol. But it's still nice

I know, I know with the oversharing of pictures, but my almost 15 year old participated in the Santa photo for the first time in years. It made my day! I guess he has moved on from "it's not cool" to knowing it's hilarious when older kids or adults take pictures with Santa.

Another funny note, every time my daughter would make a suggestion of what her brother wanted (the three year old) he kept saying he had that. Santa said he was confused.

My son has been on a daddy only kick for a while (he refuses to leave the crib unless my husband lifts him out), and this morning he asked for me when my husband went in. IMMD

I just hope this isn't the start of a 3+ mommy only phase which is what we had before (because I have enjoyed the break).

That's neat. Boyd is actually closer to us, but we are zoned into McKinney.

Isn't it funny how our emotions go back and forth between "Yay I get a break" and "Why don't you want mommy??" My sister and I were just discussing this today. We can't win.

a little boy (7-8 yrs?) came into my store today and wouldn't stop looking at the costume jewellery. in particular, this small jeweled penguin pendant necklace. i went over to talk to him about it and the conversation was so funny. he told me his grandma would just love it - and asked me to work out the sale % got him Syu that he could determine whether or not it feel within his "budget" - it did. I brought him to the register to ring him up and as i was boxing it, he requested a gift receipt and then used his mom's credit card to pay (but he did it himself). the whole thing was just so sweet. as he was leaving he turned around and asked if he could have a second box because he had also made her another Christmas present and didn't have anything to put it in... obviously i gave him an extra.

just such a fun interaction and great kid. totally mmd
