Answering number 3: my parents met us at our house as soon as we got home from the hospital. They didn’t come to the hospital because they were both traveling for work. My mom did stay over the first night. I was glad she was there because I was overwhelmed, yet at the same time, I felt guilty because I knew she was going to be exhausted. I nursed DS and then she took over cuddle duty and told me to go sleep with DH. She said she’d wake me up when DS was ready to eat again. About this time, the blues hit and I was sobbing and could not fall asleep. It was terrible. I finally napped for an hour and a half before DS was up and ready to eat again. My poor mom would’ve let me sleep for 12 hours if she could have but duty calls for a nursing mom! I think we did this routine through the first night. After that she would just come over for the day (Idk why I felt bad having her stay over). This time, I want both parents to stay over. My mom can help me with baby, DH can catch up on some sleep (he’s useless without it) and my dad can help with DS. He is a SAINT when it comes to DS!
I've decided after a week at home I'm going to go into the office tomorrow but I'm so not looking forward to having to change out of my pajamas and deal with people face to face. We'll see how long I last.
Okay, so here is something I have been raging about in my head: I know it's not for everyone, but I love the "My first Valentine's Day," "My First Easter," etc. outfits/onesies for LOs. Naturally, Xmas is top of the list. I ASSUME this one is coming AFTER Xmas (due 1/3), so I have not bought him an outfit, but I'll be SO heated if he comes on the 23rd and I don't have one. And trust me, it's hard to run out and get one on December 24th. There's a 99% chance I'm going to just order one now and waste a ton of money...
@EmilyLove25 I love the my first outfits but it's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that I will have to buy a my first xmas outfit in 12 month....what??? That's just crazy! I would more than likely be the person to buy the outfit just in case if my due date was that early in Jan...but my due date is end of Jan so I highly doubt I'll need one! You could maybe...resell it later in the year for someone that will for sure need one!
@conineml YES! That is exactly part of it... I can't picture getting the first Xmas one in 12 months lol! At least there will be a bigger supply! And true that I could resell/gift it... they aren't very expensive anyway!
@EmilyLove25 I love those outfits too. I am due so late in January that if she came before christmas she would be 35 weeks and probably tiny, I'll find out today some measurements but she was measuring much smaller than DS at this time, like 50th percentile vs 96th. I say that because I'm sure that if I did buy an outfit for her that it wouldn't freaking fit. UGH. So I'm skipping it. BUT I know your due date is weeks before mine, so if I were you, I'd totally buy one, keep the tags on and return the day after christmas if he doesn't come early.
@EmilyLove25 also love those outfits! I got matching family Christmas PJs this year and went ahead and ordered the 12 month for this LO for next year, haha! I figured if she decided to come early I can put her in that and figure out how to make it work--maybe like a gown? It would make more sense for you to buy the right size though. My EDD is 1/11 and I went 9 days past due date with DS, but ya never know! Always prepared!
ETA my random for today: DS started his 2 day a week preschool today, finally!! I thought I would run out of there like "freeeedommmm!" But instead I ran out of there holding back tears. I didn't think it would hit me so hard. I SAH and he's only ever stayed with DH or my MIL for probably the same amount of time he's gone today. Dude didn't even say bye to me, he was so excited! Fingers crossed he does amazing and doesn't wreak havoc on his teacher! He's a wild one sweet, but wild!
I don't really know where to put this but I just need to vent a bit. I'm having one of those weeks where I have no idea how in the world I'm going to make everything work with 2 kids. DS has been impossible, he's sick so he is irrational and clingy. He also will not sleep. So we've been up most of the night for the past 3 nights, which makes me remember that sleep is going to be something that doesn't happen for a long time. Also, DH has been working extra long hours. On a normal day he is gone from 6:45-6:30, but recently he hasn't been getting home until later. I have no idea how you ladies whose husbands travel do it. I just wish I had help or family close or something. I'm just going to take the day to sit here and feel sorry for myself. haha
@maueraa07 Hugs! Just remember that you are pregnant now so EVERYTHING seems harder... and a sick toddler, it's just hard, especially since you aren't sleeping. I have moments too when I think it will be impossible with two (DH travels as you mentioned), but I know we will survive lol! I hope your stress decreases--and I know it will when DS is better and you get a little sleep!
@EmilyLove25 I've been having the same internal struggle! I'm due new years eve, so one week early and she could be without a Christmas outfit!! Luckily I have an aunt that said she has an outfit picked out and on stand by incase she comes early.
On a separate note, my house finally has furniture in it again and my DH is out of town tonight, so let the nesting begin!!!
I'm with y'all on the Christmas outfits! I'm due Jan 1st so she could be here by Christmas. I mentioned it to DH and his response was if she comes before Christmas that my mom will buy her a Christmas outfit before we even have to think about it. I was like true, I'm not going to worry then.
@maueraa07 solidarity. We had a really rough day Tuesday and there was a point I just sat there on the couch while DD threw one of her millions of tantrums that day and was almost in tears wondering how I'd figure out how to be a mom to two kids. It's so daunting, but people do it everyday, so it must be ok..right? Hugs, hopefully the storm passes quickly!
Omg I know... it is so crazy how it is already December. I expect to deliver in December too since I am due January 3rd... and really MANY of us could this month. Bananas. So close (and yet...).
Back at the doctor today. Fingers crossed for no repack! I'm tired of having needles stuck in my butt.
ETA: Update - no repack! They just removed the drain. If it gets worse I'll have to go back and have it repacked but since it wasn't draining much anymore I should be good to go.
Yes, it's finally December!! I'm due in the middle of the month, but my 20w scan showed he was measuring a week ahead. They still kept the date, but I have my hopes he comes a little early

Yay, @gusgus14! Good news for you! The fact that it's December is blowing my mind. My due date is 12/30...so I'll most likely be having a baby THIS month. I just gave my students "the talk" today...telling them that the end is near, when I plan on leaving, all about their new sub, etc. It's getting real! Plus, tonight is my "Baby Sprinkle," so it's kind of the last hurdle before the big day. Tonight will decide all of the last minute "stuff" I have to still get/do. Then, it's go time! Ahhhhhh!
I'm grumpy today. I found my cat peeing again but it was blood so I took him to the vet and spent all the money I was planning to spend on freezer meals or some from my amazon registry on his damn vet visit and the extras I had to order online for him. I love my cat, but like, could he please stop doing this. He did this exact thing at this point during my pregnancy with DS. I'm really hoping things get worked out very quickly.
I also can't believe it is December! So happy that our pack n play and crib mattress arrived yesterday. We have everything we need if LO arrives early (EDD Jan 1st).
I'm so excited because this is DH's last weekend of class!!!! He graduates on the 16th and I'm so happy to have his weekends back! Just in time for LO to arrive.
