  • Also got my Spectra S2 Plus in the mail! It's kind of cute. Seems pretty loud, though.
  • @leilagphillips thank you for your post! I went to acceleron (sp?) and was re-directed to AeroFlow.  They said I'd hear back in a week. I heard back in less than a day! And ordered my pump (Spectra S2) today! What would I have done without this site?  Had more of a headache dealing with all this thats for sure!
  • @jesrude I'm glad I could help!
  • So jealous of you guys! I tried applying for a Spectra and my insurance co. won't even let me start the process until early November. :(

  • Did you guys go through your insurance directly? Or through a program like Target has? Just trying to see suggestions on what I should do. Thanks!
  • I ordered my Spectra S1 yesterday afternoon and it arrived this morning!!

@balletnerd I called my insurance and asked for some names of companies I could go through and that’s how I picked where I ordered mine. The company still verified insurance and asked for a RX.

  • @balletnerd directly through insurance who told me who to call (carecentrix). Once I hit 28 weeks and had my prescription they took it from there. They found a local company and they had it shipped to me in exactly a week.

  • @beary67 I entered my info on 1 Natural Way and they said they didn't work with my ins (anthem BCBS) but that Aeroflow would and they sent the info to them instead. Aeroflow was amazingly easy to work with, and I imagine 1 Natural Way is the same. They sent me an exact list of pumps/pricing per my ins, and they got the script from my OB and sent my chosen pump right away. I did upgrade to the Freestyle, but the whole process was a breeze; I didn't really have to do anything.
  • I used Aeroflow as well, and upgraded to the Freestyle. Their paperwork all said I had to be a certain number of weeks before insurance would process, but I actually received my pump in the first tri. It was nice to have that part done and settled. Now it's sitting in Baby's closet waiting to see if I get to use it. If nothing happens at the hospital I may just to resell the unopened box..

  • My insurance has me going through CareCentrix as well. Torn between the Medela Pump in style & Spectra S2.

  • I'm also wanting to bring this up again as I am lazy and have not got my pump yet! Can't decide between Medela PISA and Spectra.
  • Both were highly recommended by friends so it was tough deciding.  I went with the Spectra because it's a closed system.  I'm generally lazy about cleaning, and while I don't plan to put my baby's health in danger by not being fastidious about pump/parts maintenance, not being able to accidentally get milk into the pump was one less thing for me to worry about.

Also my coworker who just returned from mat leave got a PISA but then borrowed a Spectra from a friend (after using only the PISA for ~3 months) so she could just leave one at work, and she greatly prefers the Spectra.

  • Thanks for the input @whiska
  • I've been using the medela in style for my last 2 kids. I'm looking at spectra S2 plus. Any thoughts? I still have 2 meleda sitting around so should I try it? I thought of getting it 2 years ago and went with another medela since the one I had was 6 years old. My first I used a hospital grade medela and hated it.
  • A word of caution- call and make sure your pump is on the way, if it's been ordered through a service or your doctor's office!

I got a few text updates from Hygeia early on, and called my Dr at about 7 months. I was always told my pump would show up closer to my delivery date.

I got put on bedrest at 33 weeks, called again, and was told that my insurance wouldn't work with Hygeia, and my order had been cancelled without telling me!

I ended up ordering from Amazon, and got the Spectra I wanted in the first place.
