Chart stalk/questions thread week of November 13

This is a thread where anyone can feel free to request a chart stalk, second-guess FF's interpretation, or post TTC-related questions, regardless of where in your cycle you are. Sometimes FF is wrong. That's where we come in. Get your second opinion here!

  • Thanks @emmasemm! I'll check it out.

  • Okay - I could use some opinions even though I know there is no way to know for sure. I normally O late, earliest is CD17. I've been sick all weekend starting Friday night, so didn't temp Saturday and Sunday was a fever temp so discarded it. My OPKs (which I don't always turn) were darkest Saturday and Sunday but not positive. If my temps stay normal post-O high, any thoughts on O day? It doesn't matter if I put in more high temps, FF won't give me CHs

  • @sailing_mama I would guess cd15 but agree that it's hard to know. Sorry :(

  • I posted in the newbie thread but since this is also a question thread i wanted to ask here. Does anyone have experience taking clomid? I took it for the first time this month, days 5-9, and tenps and FF show i ovulated on cd16. My normal lp is 11 days. I am on 13dpo today with still high temps, closed cervix and other symptoms. I did some reading and showed the clomid can cause certain symptoms but couldnt find a lot of info showing that it lengthened the lp. Has anyone had experience with this? Since it is my first month taking it, i dont have anything to compare it to and dont know what to expect. If anyone has any info or tips on dealing with clomid,  it would be much appreciated. Im attaching my chart so you can see what i see on FF.

  • @Sailing_Mama what was your CM like today? did the fertile dry up?
  • @adirat I was leaning towards that too. Of course I would O early on the cycle I was sick and didn't get good timing haha... keeping my FX that those couple days were all it took!

@SmashJam It did... back to creamy today

@busymommy23, clomid can lengthen your LP.    TW I only took it one month without conceiving, and I was very symptomatic, as symptomatic as the month I did conceive with it, so I wouldn't pay any attention to symptoms.
  • @holly321 thanks. Ive been documenting symptoms just so i know for next time but my lp has always been 11 days so to be at 13dpo is strange. I appreciate the info!

@sailing_mama one way to approach it I remember being said to me in early days was, if you err on the latest day then you won't be testing too early?  So even if you called it cd16 (which the cm change today supports, I think, given there's no way to trust the temps with a fever in the same timeframe anyway, kwim?)  Either way, call it cd 15 or 16, close enough, but cd 16 gives you more margin of error, say if you think you're testing at 10dpo but really your only 9 dpo.  Better to think you're testing at 10 dpo but really be 11 dpo and get a stronger line, right???  Anyway, sorry if that was like word vomit.  Words are hard right now. :/

  • I woke up in the middle of the night with intense cramps. Has anyone else experienced cramps as a side effect of progesterone? From the information I have, it sounds like it's a relatively common side effect, but boy was that unpleasant! If you have had cramps from progesterone, was it an ongoing issue the whole time you were on the drugs, or just a couple of times?
  • @BusinessWife Thanks - I'd actually been having that same thought! I've put an override on CD 15, but figure I'm going to hold off testing for a few extra days, if it gets to that point.
  • @darkstar42, I have cramping every time I have taken progesterone.  I don't remember it ever being severe, but it would last for days.
  • @darkstar42 I have been getting some cramps here and there too... :/ I'm sure is normal, but not super fun!
  • @holly321 @BusinessWife Thank you! I just needed the reassurance that this isn't something to worry about. :)
  • @darkstar42 I just finished my course of progesterone on Monday. Still no period (CD 67 for me), but lots of cramps. No more terrible than usual cramps, but definitely there.

Speaking of progesterone, how long after stopping do you typically get your period? My doctor said it may be up to a week but I feel like it's not even on its way and I'm getting frustrated. I don't want my O day to get potentially pushed so far back that it'll get ruined by DH having drill.

  • @jsnakehole, I have used it twice.  The first time was 5 days, the second was 7.   While I was crampy, I still felt like it started out of nowhere with each.

@jsnakehole So I took Provera, not actual progesterone...Not sure which you were given. I always had a 10 day course and would start bleeding on day 5-7 while taking it. Any bleeding within two weeks of starting it is expected I believe. I'm usually an-o though, so my response to it is typical of that dx.

When did you start taking it?

  • I started taking it on Thursday of last week. I was on 5 mg/day for five days, so my last pill was on Monday.

  • @jsnakehole I would expect for AF to start by this coming Monday then. I'd call in if it doesn't. Mine was always 10mg/10 days. You dosage seems light considering your history

  • Hi ladies!

My body seems to be extra weird this cycle (I'm blaming the HSG). I think I may have already O'd based on temps but never got a true positive OPK. Yesterday morning (CD12) was the closest to positive with the lines being the same. The brand I use test line needs to be darker to count as a true positive. I'm thinking I may have O'd in the night between CD 11 and CD 12. Thoughts? If I add a +OPK for yesterday it gives me dotted crosshairs tomorrow at CD 11 but without the +OPK it'd give me dotted crosshairs at CD9. Or these high temps are just my body messing with me.

I'm just trying to pin O day down because it seems to get progressively earlier each month. I'm wondering if this is something I should bring up with the RE in our next consult.

  • @SkilledSailor because you had fertile quality cm until cd12, I would doubt ovulation occurred as early as cd9.
Exact ov date can’t be pinpointed without an ultrasound though.
  • @SkilledSailor. How many times a day are you testing?  I have found that I usually only see one (maybe two truly positive opks each cycle) and it’s usually an early morning opk.  Maybe you have a short surge?
  • @sapphiredays I agree. I was pretty surprised it wanted to give me crosshairs that early. I have had fertile CM during the TWW before though so maybe it doesn’t pay much attention to my CM anymore?

@dukestar5 I do have a short surge, 12ish hours is my guess. I tested the afternoon of CD11 then the afternoon of CD 12 but neither were as dark as the morning one.
  • @SkilledSailor I have no idea about ff’s specific algorithm. But having fertile cm during the LP isn’t that strange, provided it’s after peak and temp shift have been met. The fact that you’ve had shouldn’t affect future ov predictions.
  • I would say cd 11 @SkilledSailor  my opks were unreliable the cycle i had my SHG - not sure why.  I wouldnt worry too much about that if the temps are shifting.  Earlier O is also not really any cause for concern, imho.  See if another high temp confirms O, and try not to take too much stock in the opks for this cycle maybe?
