Re: Controversial thread
I feel like there there is a huge difference between wanting to assimilate into a culture than being born into the wrong body, like a member of the trans community. You can immerse yourself in a culture, and appreciate it, but you cross the line when you decide that you should be a member.
Just my two cents.
The psychologist (psychiatrist?) who weighed in for the article made it sound like she was okay with it since he wasn't hurting anyone and I can see that frame of mind but...why not just enjoy a culture? Why do you literally have to say you were born the wrong race?
Let's see a person of color try to say they feel they are white; they would not be taken seriously for even a second. The whole thing feels so incredibly insulting to the people this person is claiming to be. I'm guessing as soon as this white man would undergo the same discrimination Filipino people endure, he'd nope out in a heart beat.
Get a fucking life, bruh.
I'm trying to think about the people I see around my city that are a different ethniticity from me. I honestly feel like the majority wear clothes that would stereotypically fit their background. Admittedly, I live on the cusp of two neighborhoods that are each very segregated ethnically so I could be a n=1.
I don't think that's a thing
Anyways I am rambling but that guy is nutz. It's awesome to love and appreciate other cultures but it's weird to claim you are something that you arent. There is a big difference between transgender which actually has different causes, and transracial which is made up and i could be wrong but it seems to be just for attention. You are either raised in a culture/region or you aren't. Oh and my 1/2 Filipino SO finds this hilarious as well.
