@lincbeesmom Our twins never slept in the same crib, but were good sleepers. DS grunted and moved a lot, still does, in his sleep so I don't think it would have worked at all. Also, I think I would have been too concerned one would move an arm and push their blanket on the others face. We used the twin bassinet pnp for awhile until we found they slept better in rnps (ped approved of this sleeping arrangement) until 3 months when they were moved to individual cribs. We then used the twin pnp a lot for short term containment because it was bigger than our other pnp.
Now that they're older, I have been waiting to wake up in the morning to find them in the same toddler bed. Mostly seeing DD into DS bed because she likes to cuddle.
@suchaglencoco thank you! We have very limited space (didn’t know we were having twins when we settled on a 2 bedroom apartment) so I’m just trying to find out what will work best!
It's definitely hard to find the room. We weren't sure 2 cribs would fit without making the room too stuffed. So I folded 2 blankets the size of a crib and set them side by side. Mountains of room to spare. I don't know how big I thought cribs were, haha. This is the pnp we used and may use for this singleton.
Has anyone eaten or plan to ear hollandaise sauce? I'm going for brunch tomorrow and I'm craving eggs benny. I plan to get it poached hard, but don't want to forego the sauce. Should I just avoid the whole dish? What are the risks if I eat it?

I’ve had it twice in the last week... With runny eggs.
Laying in bed wondering, what's the worst smell you've had to smell while pregnant?
For me, the new place we moved into gets mice, instead of putting out traps, mh decided poison was better that way they could bring it home and feed it to their families. Well, down side to that is now we have at least one dead mouse in the wall of our bedroom/bathroom/laundry room and I've been burning candles for the past 3 days to mask the smell because we're not going to tear down walls looking for it. I have never smelled something so bad, and I'm not sure if it's just because of the heightened smelling ability, or what. MH doesn't seem to even notice it.
Another weird smell I've been dealing with, the tap water. Idk what it is about it, we went from a well to town water, and talking a shower in it turns my stomach. I had to start drinking bottled water which I don't like doing because I can't stomach the smell of the water, I can't really tell if it tastes bad, but something about it smells. Again mh notices nothing and my dogs don't mind drinking it, which they don't like doing at our home in ny because the water is sulfur scented when we don't run the deironizer enough.
@jhysmath I second the dead mouse smell. We live in a newer subdivision and our house has no other houses near it yet, we are surrounded by nature. We have one closet in our house that we have to keep closed because somehow that's the wall the mice climb up into and die. We also had one crawl into the back of our refrigerator last year and die there, we couldn't figure out where the smell was coming from for a few days until we finally scooted the fridge away from the wall, sure enough. Another putrid smell I smelled today was our area rug in our master bedroom. We have two big dogs and I have no idea what happened in the room today but I walked into the room this afternoon and immediately had to roll up the rug and clean the hardwood floors. Not even going to try to save the rug.
DH's hair gel. It was like...I can't describe it but it used to smell good and I feel bad that I just can't stand it anymore. Cologne/perfume type smells were my death.
@bwow615 our dogs 13 year old labs, and one of them has been having bladder control issues and this morning I woke up at 5 to what smelled skunky and couldn't sleep I felt so sick, mh smelled the mattress and thinks the dogs accident last week is making the mattress smell so today he drenched it in fabreeze it didn't currently smell, so I'm hoping it's gone away.
@charlestonchew luckily for me mh and my students know too much perfume or cologne makes me sneeze uncontrollably so they're kind enough not to use too much, I had a kid go wash up one day when they came back from gym smelling like they took a shower in axe body spray. It was awful. Thankfully I don't have freshmen until next semester and by then the peer pressure to wear deodorant and not axe kicks in from the upper classmen.
Thankfully I don’t have to deal with this very often, but cigar/cigarette smoke is killing me right now. I had no idea how rampant smoking is in Vegas! We like can’t escape it unless we’re in our hotel room. Also so happy we’re going home tomorrow because it’s making my head spin.
Yes! I had some acne with my first, but this time around it’s way worse. I can’t even cover them anymore. I wish I had advice for you, but all I can offer is support and solidarity.
@lincbeesmom We put our twins in the same co-sleeper next to our bed for the first month or so until they were getting a little crowded and started moving a little more. Then we put them in the same crib, but on opposite sides. Sometimes if they were fussy, we would put them next to each other and they would calm down, sometimes not. We moved them into separate cribs around 5 months when they started moving around more and rolling. I also think you will eventually need two cribs for when they get bigger, but I would say you could space it out until they're at least 6 or 7 months, or until they start crawling.
As far as smells, a lot of them are pretty bad right now. I walked past a woman in the grocery store and she smelled so badly of cigarette smoke, I started gagging. But at one point, I was standing outside with some of MH's cousins while they were smoking, and for some reason I thought it smelled SO good. I would say overall wiping the girls' butts and dumping their poop into the big toilet from their little potty is pretty bad, and I deal with it the most often.

The eggs in hollandaise sauce are cooked so it's no problem at all
Regarding smells, my dh doesn't smell the same to me and it puts me off. Sorry dh! But I'm sure the dead rat smells trumps the lot- that's awful. I'd go crazy!
Last pregnancy, I hated whatever shampoo DH would buy to try and help things. He eventually just started to use my shampoo and has used it ever since. It helped a lot. Thankfully, I don't use expensive stuff, haha.
I find I can really smell when anyone has eaten garlic recently and it is terrrrrrrible.
Also DS's poopy diapers. Omg. It never bothered me much before but now it's so strong and I feel like I can never get rid of it from the air in the room I change him to my hands after I wipe him (even though the poop actually doesn't get on me).
Question...for those of you who have had ultrasound done around the 12 week mark do they do transvaginal or abdominal? I’m expecting transvaginal since I don’t think my uterus has moved above my pubic bone yet but was just curious.

I had an 11 week abdominal, a 10 week vaginal and a 9 week abdominal, so who knows!
My question is about weight gain...anyone else experience little to no weight gain at all in the first tri? I know, cry me a river, but hear me out...this is my second baby, so I just assumed I’d be showing and/or have gained weight by now (I’ll be 15 weeks tomorrow). I’m going to talk to my dr of course, but has anyone had this? I’ve been way more nauseous this time around, but I’ve still felt like I’ve been eating plenty...only thing I can of is that I started this pregnancy 10 pounds lighter than my last and that I’m on the taller side (5’9.5)?!? Still doesn’t make sense to me...
@onesmallcoconut I May or may not have been using gloves for poopy diapers cause I literally can’t even with them right now. If I had masks I’d use those too.

Not always true. If you go to a greasy cafe, chances are the hollandaise is highly processed and probably came as a powder. That type should pose no special risk. However, traditionally hollandaise is made with raw eggs so if you go to a fancy French place, they may make it from scratch. That said, I will still eat all types because it’s delicious and the actual risk of undercooked eggs is extremely low.
@MrT723 I had one last week at 11ish weeks, she started abdominal but did an internal as well. She said she wanted to get better pictures of the placenta, I think she just wanted to get us a better picture of garbanzo bean to take home.

Yes, but you still cook the sauce in a double boiler. (I’ve made it exactly twice, so I’m clearly an expert )
@mrt723 i second the opinion to just make sure you have a full bladder so the tech can see clearly. I had my first and only us at 10 weeks and she only needed to do an abdominal one. no internal one needed.
@acs2015 i am 13 weeks tomorrow and haven't gained anything yet. first pregnancy in 2014 i was probably also about 10 pounds heavier. This pregnancy I feel like I am eating constantly, but i feel like I'm not eating a lot at one time. So i don't think its abnormal to not gain in the first tri. I am also not showing yet, but am looking forward to it! I hope i get a nice baby bump this time around, last time i just felt more round.
@acs2015 I’m 15w4d and I’ve gained exactly three pounds. I’m a firm believer that if you’re not “eating for two” then your body will redistribute or gain as it needs. My last pregnancy I gained 32lbs in total and it was horrible towards the end. I’m glad I haven’t gained as much as I did at this point last round because I’m hopeful it will lead to less complications towards the end.
I’m of the impression that weight gain isn’t a big deal as long as Mom is an adult, has a reasonably heathy diet and doesnt have an eating disorder. Otherwise, you will gain what you will gain and there isn’t much you can do about it!
My question is about weight gain...anyone else experience little to no weight gain at all in the first tri? I'm a FTM but did not throw up during 1st tri (had no appetite but was still eating whatever sounded good) and I lost about 5 pounds. I'm in 2nd tri and have gained back only one of those 5 pounds. I started out heavy so I think pregnancy is a great diet for me...haha...
On the topic of weight gain, it's been a huge anxiety of mine because I'm already obese and I don't want to gain more than 10-20 pounds (which is recommended for obese). Weight has always been a topic and issue for me and I've always watched my calories so I'm even more tempted now to count calories but I don't think that's healthy so I've been trying to focus on healthier foods...but it just makes me so anxious. I step on the scale all the time.
@charlestonchew I'm in the same boat as you, though I refuse to weigh myself partly because I don't want to know and partly because my fitbit aria scale says don't use during pregnancy. But at my 8 wk appointment I was down 5 lbs. And I really have not been eating much, but my new candy under my desk habit might change that.
I'm going to preface this by saying I'm one of the people who really doesn't care what people say about what I can/can't eat while pregnant. But for the people worried/asking about eggs and hollandaise sauce (or any other "risky" things pregnant women aren't supposed to eat) this is a link to the CDC's foodborne illness website, it lists the multistate outbreaks by year and by disease, and most of the "not safe" things are listed *maybe* once or twice in the past 10-15 years (sometimes longer) as the cause of the outbreak. Lunch meat isn't mentioned even once as a cause of listeria outbreak (but cheese/dairy products are), eggs are only listed twice since 2006 for salmonella outbreak, etc. It might make you feel better, might not. I found it when my judgmental little sister was telling me I couldn't eat hoagies one day. https://www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/outbreaks/multistate-outbreaks/outbreaks-list.html

Thanks @sandbar517 that is really interesting and helpful. I ended up going for the eggs benny. I did get it poached hard (partly for risk and partly because I have had an egg aversion but was hoping you get some protein) and I definitely enjoyed the hollandaise. There are way you many opinions and "shaming" out there so I appreciate these facts and the reminder to not listen to everyone
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to post a new weekly questions for Sunday even though it's now Tuesday or if I can just post a question in here?
My midwife called and left a message that they recieved the results from my ultrasound on Tuesday. And the baby looks great and the heart beat is great, but they're still seeing a "mass" that they're assuming is a fibroid (which hasn't grown since my first ultrasound) and want to do another ultrasound next month.
Has anyone had experience with this before? I' never knew I had one before the first ultrasound, and I'm starting to panic again. Especially because they call it a mass and want for follow ups, they have not told me the location either time they mentioned it, and from Dr Google I've read that's important to deciding risk. And they also "assume" is a fibroid, what else could it be? I'm sure Google will tell me I'm dying.
