I'm guessing it's because we have twins, but we get this almost every time. And then "are they sure? They can hide!"
Umm, yes. Yes we're sure. As are our doctors with expensive machines!

Is anyone else getting a weird, popping feeling like an inch below the bottom of their ribs?
I've been having some weird feeling there and it stinks. Kind of reminds me of a kicking feeling, but obviously it' WAY too early for that.

  • @suchaglencoco That high, probably just your insides shifting around to make space!

  • Oh good point! Thanks.
  • @suchaglencoco I had some weird sensations under my ribs accompanied by pain in my foot at the same time.  It’s for sure too early for kicks up there, but it was a really weird feeling.
  • @MrT723 yes my acne is also gearing up. Mainly around my chin. I'm using a charcoal bar and mask to help detox and remove excess oils now
  • Anyone here good with ultrasounds or know a lot about them?  Or can explain what exactly a horizontal plane is on an u/s?  Is it just like a regular horizontal plane or is it different?  I think I am confused.
  • @sparklingdiamond what was the reference?  How was it used, like in the interpretation?

  • @sandbar517 They said "these should not be on the same horizontal plane"
  •  Yeah, that doesn't make sense to me.  Because especially if a baby is lying flat, stuff that wouldn't normally be "on the same horizontal plane", i.e. the head and stomach, will be.  I would assume that horizontal plane would be entirely dependent on the positioning.  But I'm also not an ultrasound expert, by any means.

And that's what I was wondering too.  Like if the baby isn't in the perfect position, wouldn't that throw things like that off?  I was just feeling very confused when I think about it.  Thanks for your input!
  • @sparklingdiamond, Unless they are speaking from a strictly "anatomical position" point of view.  As in, the pancreas and bladder would never be in the same plane if the baby was in the anatomical position, so if they were, they would more than likely make a comment similar to that.

  • @sandbar517 They said "the stomach and heart should not be on the same horizontal plane".  But when the tech had pointed out the stomach earlier, it was below the heart....which is why I am confused.
  • @sparklingdiamond that is really weird.  The only way that would make sense to me would be if either the heart or stomach are bigger than they should be, so part of it was in the same plane, but not necessarily the whole part. So if there was an enlarged heart, maybe just the bottom tip is in the same plane as the stomach, even though the stomach would still technically be "below" the heart.  Does that make sense?  I'm not trying to scare you or anything, just trying to think of ways in which that wording would make sense.  I would definitely be asking more questions and/or getting a second opinion.

  • Yea, she told me what she thought the issue was, I just really don't want to talk about it until I know for sure if it is an issue or not (which I will know tomorrow).  So trying to only put positive vibes and thoughts out there for tomorrow!  I will update either way though.
  • I need some input in how to tell a co-worker I'm pregnant and hoping you ladies can help! Also hope I'm posting this in the right place, if not please advise where it should go!

    TW - loss mentioned.
My co-workers are all over the country and we don't see each other in person often. Most communication is via email. last spring one of the woman I work with had a miscarriage and because of a lot of factors it was probably her only chance to have a baby. I'm going to be seeing her in a few weeks with the rest of the team which is when I was planning to tell everyone in person. I'm thinking that I should probably let her know privately ahead of time and also let her know when I plan to tell the rest of the team. My question is should I send her an email? If so, wording suggestions? I really want to be sensitive to her loss but since it is a professional relationship I'm not sure what to say.
    End TW

I did finally tell my boss on friday and it went way better than I though! How has it been for everyone else breaking the news at work?
  • @MrT723 I have been getting acne this pregnancy as well. I have been using a Mediterranean clay mask dries them right up.
@suchaglencoco I never had twins but because my bloat is ridiculous my mom has been asking if I am sure I am not having twins.
Is anyone else feeling like they worked out their inner thighs hard? I dont remember this with DD.
  • @sandbar517 thank you for the advice on what to say. If it was a personal friend I feel like I would know what to do but being professional I was feeling stuck!
@suchaglencoco I'm trying. Also planning to steer any group talk away from my pregnanc if it comes up after I tell everyone since not everyone knows about my co-worker she situation and i really don't want to cause her any more pain.
  • @oywiththepoodlesalready exactly what @sandbar517 said.  I used a similar approach with a friend that had recently experienced a late loss and it was good to have a dialogue about it so that she could process the information on her own terms.  I think it is great you are being sensitive to her.  I will never forgot how upset our family friend was when her SIL announced her pregnancy on Christmas day to everyone when she knew our friend's struggle with infertility and that they had just been recently told they could never have biological children.  She was devastated and she said she wished she would  have known beforehand so that she could have an emotional reaction in private.

I don't need to worry about sleeping on my back until 20 weeks, right? And which side is better for heart rate?
  • @cups4 Left side, but my midwife said you’ll know when you can’t sleep on your back anymore. It will be uncomfortable.
  • My acne is flaring up too! Clindamycin cream is working wonders :)
  • @cups4 last go around my dr told me it was ok to sleep on my back as long as i was comfortable. It's been years so i can't remember how long i made it but pretty sure it was past 20 weeks.
  • Ok, I have some questions that have nothing to do with pregnancy.  Any tax lawyers, or financial people who know a lot about retirement accounts?  MH and I are going to withdraw money from one of mine through a previous employer (that I haven't worked for in 7 years) and I'm hoping to get some advice/questions answered.  Anyone?

I could maybe potentially help.  I work for a CPA and do taxes for a living.  But not sure if they are tax related questions?
  • @sparklingdiamond It's worth a shot!  I'll send a you a PM.

  • @sandbar517 I could possibly help as well.  Do you need to take the money out or are you just looking to move it away from your previous employer?
  • @ceridwen77 Taking it out.  I think I figured most of it out, I asked my BIL last night to explain some stuff to me, I think it was just confusing wording on the form.  And the account is still in my maiden name, so I have to call them anyway to figure out what I have to do to fix that, so I'm going to ask them a few questions when I call.  Thanks, though!!

  • Nevermind. I found it!!

  • Can twins sleep in the same crib?

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Can twins sleep in the same crib?
I do not have twins and am a FTM so take my answer with a grain of salt. I work in child welfare so with new moms we teach safe sleep. The AAP recommends one crib per infant (they also do not recommend bed sharing of any kind, including co-sleeping. Many people do not agree with this.) My answer to this would be no. However, an initial google search led to many articles claiming that it is fine and many people do it to keep the twins close for bonding and feeling secure. I think ultimately it's up to you, I mean like I said earlier many people still co-sleep despite the recommendation not to. I think when they start wiggling and moving this would cause more safety hazards than newborns.
  • @charlestonchew thanks for your input! I’m still on the fence about it. I was initially planning on two mini-cribs but if we can get away with one regular size crib, It would make things easier.

  • Does anyone have a good recommendation for a backbag type diaper bag? I had a messenger bag style one last time which was fine, but we ended up using an old backpack more often because it was way easier to carry. I want something with convenient baby pockets and enough room to fit junk for 3 kids, but not so big it looks like it's eating me. Also unisex, because DH and I carry it pretty equally. Oh, and cheap too- but of course I want high quality material. I want it alllllll!

If I was in your position I probably would still buy two cribs because even if you put them in one now, I feel like when they get older and start standing and walking you might want two cribs. However, if it financially makes more sense to spread out those purchases that might be a reason to get only one now.
  • @k5678 my bff just got a JuJuBee backpack and loves it. She said it’s way better than the messenger style one she had from Skip Hop with her first.
  • Can twins sleep in the same crib?
My friend who had twins last year had them sleep in the same crib for the first few months. She said they slept better touching. But once they started moving a lot it didn’t feel safe.
