Ok, I'll start. As far as I know, I wasn't named after anyone, and my parents just liked my name. My dad told me later in life that my mom had always suspected that I was named after one of my dad's high school girlfriends, but he always denied it. That's about as interesting as it gets for me.

My name is Ronel and my Dad's name is Ronald and my Mom's name is Elaine. They took the first parts of their names to make my name. I appreciate it now because neither of them are in my life now and I'll always have a part of them with me.
@holli0801 That is hilarious! @tincupchalice MH mentioned to me the spelling of one of our girls' middle name and it was totally wrong. After 2-3 guesses I finally corrected him and told him how it's spelled. I thought it was pretty funny. @babydreams88 That's very sweet. One of the girls in my sister's class in high school was named after her parents, and it didn't work like yours does. Kaphil-Katherine and Phillip

Not named after anyone, but my dad got my mom to switch my first and middle names during labor
My user name is because I love drinks. All kinds of drinks. Like I need to have a soda, ice water, juice, etc. and lots of choices. H calls me the cup queen because of all my drinks.
My parents wanted to name me Michaela (not sure if any meaning behind it aside from that they liked it), but a little girl was kidnapped 6 months prior to my birth and she was named Michaela. Her abduction was very high profile and my parents didn't want anyone to think they named me after her....so they shortened it to Kaela. Sadly, that girl is still missing/unsolved almost 30 years later.
@kpc914 That would be a little weird to be named "after" her. That is so sad, I can't even imagine the hell her parents have been through the past 30 years.

My my mom was really into the bionic woman apparently, although spelled different than the character, I’m Jamie. Not Jaime which was ALWAYS what I got growing up.
I'm named after no one. My dad wanted to name me and my brother different names than we have so we'd have funny initials and my mom thankfully said no.
So, mine is embarrassing. Not my name but how I got it. My mother named me Ashley after she heard it mentioned by her older brothers. Years later it came out that the reason they were talking about the name is because they went to Ontario to go to a strip club and the dancer they really liked was named Ashley. They actually did something illegal during their trip and got kicked out of Canada for it. Yeah. Real classy.
@kpc914, What a sad story! It's got to be the worst feeling to lose a child, but for it to be unsolved to this day must be worse!
I guess my parents just liked my name. I'm Jennifer... along with 75% of 80's girls. I currently teach with 8 ladies on my team... 3 of us are Jennifer. I also have a support person who comes into my classroom in the afternoon... yep... Jennifer. Growing up I was Jennifer (first initial of last name). Because of this I am sensitive to popular names. It's really annoying at times to be one of 3 or 4 in a class.
My first name is just something that my parents liked. They almost named me Emily, but decided against it at the last minute. My middle name is after my mom's best friend. They were pregnant at the same time and her daughter is my childhood best friend. We are all still really close, which is really cool. And DS and my childhood BFF's daughter are the same number of weeks apart that me and my BFF are.
My name is a bit unusual but I was named after a great aunt (spinster) who helped/looked after my grandmother after she was disowned by her family for marrying my grandfather.
My parents are from a predominantly catholic country. My grandmother’s name was Arabic, ‘Zulema’, which is what my mother wanted for my middle name. Sadly the priest refused to christen me with an Arabic middle name. I feel a bit sad about that!
I was given my name to continue the same pattern as my older sister and brother. We all have the same initials and all have 21 lettters in our full names. It was my dad's idea apparently. I was going to be Justin if I was a boy.
My first name is my grandmother's middle name and my middle name is my grandfather's middle name. I also shared the same initials as him until I got married when I quickly got rid of "Jennings". I always hated having it as my middle name...
My 2 sisters and I all have first names that start with an S. I'm the middle child, and my first name I suspect is one of my dad's hs gf's, never confirmed... and my middle name is my grandmother's middle name.
My parents gave me my name because it was popular at the time it doesn't bother me as much as it used to but is annoying to have so many other people with the same name. Also, my brothers names and mine all start with the same letter.
My mom and Dad couldn’t agree on a name so they gave me the most common 3 names stuck together. My first name is hyphenated which i get to explain to everyone all day every day. And my husband only likes super popular names. *facepalm*.
My parents just picked my first name because they liked it. For my middle name I am named after my maternal grandpa, he passed away when my mom was around 8 years old.
I have a twin sister and for the first week of our lives, I had her name and she had mine. Mom decided they didn't suit us so she switched them. I'm happy she did! My sister's name is Scottish and not super common and she often has to repeat it when she introduces herself.
Such a good question. I realized I didn't know why i was named Sarah so I just texted my mom. I figured just because it was super popular in the 80s. Turns out some relative of my grandpa was named Sarah and he really like it.
My name is Jessica Noel. Jessica was just super popular (seriously I know so many) but Noel is actually after my great grandpa Leon just spelled backwards.
I was named after a folk singer my dad liked. He passed away when I was young so I love that he picked it out. And my middle name is after my maternal grandma.
I was supposed to be a boy and my cousin a girl. Well my cousin came out a boy and my aunt took the name my mom had picked out for me. A couple weeks later I came out a girl so my mom took the name my aunt had picked out for my cousin lol. Oh the joys of family.
I was named after my mother's aunt..she changed the spelling of the nickname to differentiate between us. I go by my full name when at work though. It is an "old lady" name that I always hated growing up, so it was always the nickname at school for me. As for middle name, well, I'm stuck with Ann...the most generic middle name ever.
I was originally supposed to be named Gretchen Alexis, but my grandma thankfully intervened My mom saw Ivy in some book and liked it, and my grandma's middle name is Elizabeth, along with my aunt, and now my cousin.
Mine is Marybeth. With a small b and all one word. It's super annoying because everyone wants to separate it as Mary Beth. Or people just start calling me Mary which I hate. My mom liked the Beth part but didn't want Elizabeth and I have a cousin named Bethany so Marybeth was it. I also don't like MB...
@ivyvines6 I just heard someone say Gretchen last night and I thought, "Oh that's kinda pretty..." but then I said it out loud a few times, and I'm like, nope. Don't like it.

My mom and dad agreed when they got married they would name their first daughter Johanna after my dad's great grandmother to whom he was close. When I was adopted nine years later, my mom took one look at me and said "she is not a Johanna." They later compromised on Jana and I've always been very happy with it.

Happily married since 5/24/2015 Momma of a baby Viking since 4/16, expecting #2 in 5/18
My name is Alla which is a very common Russian name but very usual in the US. It’s frustrates me for most of my life so it’s important for my kids to have names that are a little more mainstream.
My parents named me Amanda so that I could choose to go by Amanda, Mandy, or Amy and it would all still mean the same thing (beloved). I go by Amy. Which has caused some confusion....like when my neighbor gets my mail marked "Amanda" and comes over to tell me that she got some of my sister's mail again.

@holli0801 thaaaat is hilarious. I love a name that sounds normal but has a great story behind it.
Not super exciting, but I was named after my two grandmothers, one for first name and one for middle name.
Also, this will be in my head all day now.
