TTTC Checkin 10/31/2017

Hey everyone,

It's checkin time... Halloween edition! Congratulations to any BFP's and hugs to anybody who needs one.

Huge congratulations to @MooFish2364 for your BFP! I'm so glad to see one of our veterans finally graduate!

Heartfelt hugs to @eranvo27, I'm so sorry that you're going through this...

My stuff: I've had a few concerned inquiries,  I'm sure that everybody has noticed that the checkins have been a little irregular lately, which is really unlike me...  I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm OK, well, kind of! This is what is going on...

We had to take some of DH's family members in due to a devastating hurricane this summer.  While I'm really glad and super grateful that we are able to help, the circumstances have been emotionally and financially stressful.  I'm truly not complaining though because this is my family and I love them, and I am devastated for them and the loss of their home.   I've been working extra hours to try to make up some of the slack, and the tttc checkin fell through the cracks a couple of times because of this. (I still read the boards often on my phone but responding on it with longer posts doesn't work well).

Things will be straightened out with their insurance in the next couple of weeks, so please don't worry about me. I think I'll be able to keep the checkin current as usual moving forward...

Enough about me! How is everybody doing?

Re: TTTC Checkin 10/31/2017

  • @GoldenKeys Glad to hear everything overall is well with you. Hopefully insurance comes through soon for your DH's family. So sad, because although things can be replaced, so many sentiments are lost :(

    AFM:
We're coming up on a year in the beginning of December since we started TTC. I'm finally off the bench after surgery, all plans in place, CD6, feeling pressured with the milestone. I'm so hoping that this will be a magical cycle back in the game, ending the year with a positive (see what I did there? :) ). Although with the RPL, I'm cautiously excited and I'm not sure I will trust anything until I have a little one in my arms.

QOTW: What's the most spooky thing that you've ever witnessed?
I didn't witness it, but my Mom told me that when I was little, she heard me talking in my room, asked who I was taking to, and I said "the old man who lives upstairs, he is reading to me". Apparently there was an old man who owned the house prior and he had a library upstairs. My Mom freaked out because the chair across the room was rocking on its own. She said that she checked the chair about 15 minutes later after we had left the room and it was still rocking. EEK!

  • @GoldenKeys I'm so glad you're ok--but also sorry to hear about your family's losses during the hurricane.  It's wonderful that they have you and YH to take them in.  It does sound super stressful for you, though.  Happy to hear that they may be back on their feet again soon.  Just in time for the holidays!

AFM My FET is on Thursday!  I can't believe that's only 2 days away.  I also can't believe that our last transfer was in August.  How have almost three months passed??

QOTW I don't think I've ever really witnessed anything spooky.  But I did stay with family friends one night years ago, and I remember having this feeling as I fell asleep that the house was haunted.  Nothing happened that night, but the next morning, with no prompting from me, our friend regaled us with ghost stories of things they and the previous owners had witnessed.  Turns out their house was apparently quite haunted.   :#
  • @GoldenKeys I'm sure they have expressed their gratitude, but from personal experience, I can tell you it's an incredible blessing when someone lets you live with them while you sort things out.  We had to move in with my parents for a few years while my husband was in school, and we honestly could not be where we are today without that.  Here's hoping you don't get years-long house guests.  ;)

AFM I'm feeling really bummed.  We have almost definitely (90%) decided to sell our house next year, and I just don't feel emotionally ready for it.  Also, there was a bit of spotting today (CD25), so I'm bracing for the BFN this weekend.  On the flip side, my silly brain is telling me that being so emotional/exhausted/sore are all pregnancy symptoms.  But I think I'm just overwhelmed by all of this.  If I could just be chill and stop crying at Facebook videos...that'd be great.

QOTW: I can't think of anything spooky at the moment, so here's an amusing one: I was watching Stranger Things 2 this weekend, all curled up under the blankets in the bed with all the lights out, and DH snuck in and grabbed my foot.  He's lucky I didn't pee the bed.

  • @GoldenKeys I'm glad you are hanging in there! I'm sure they are forever grateful even on the toughest days!

@Bababatty that did go by fast!! Wishing you the best of luck for Thursday! I'll be thinking of you and sending good vibes your way!

@soehlerk I would be sad at the thought of selling my home too, but maybe a new house will bring forth new happy memories and a maybe new changes in life too. I'm sure it has to be tough though and come you find peace in whichever decision you make! Do you think your spotting could be implantation? I have never had implantation bleeding before. I know you and I and @mac627 were all on the same IUI schedules. Have you done any HPTs? I didn't test out the trigger shot and have been looking for symptoms, but don't seem to have many except light cramping here and there and feeling extra hungry but that's pretty normal here. Keep us posted, I am thinking positive thoughts for you! Is your Beta on Friday?

AFM, 11DPIUI and waiting for Beta on Friday morning. Pretty much convinced it didn't work this time, but I will probably test Thursday to know before I go to the dr.  I spoke to my RE about my husbands two sperm samples for the IUI. On the first day of our IUI he had 18mil and 67% motility and then on the second day it was 22mil and only 47% motility. She said that in all, the amount of sperm between those two samples should've been enough, but that in his second sample there were some inflammatory cells, which she thought was interesting as they were not in the first. So we are now going to wait for my beta test Friday and are scheduling a SA (even though I asked three times) since May. And then depending on the analysis, she may want him to see a Urologist as well.

QOTW: the only thing I could think of is when I was little my twin sister was out at the mall with my aunt and had gotten lost/separated in the store, and at the same time at home with my mom, I started hysterically crying saying I wanted Jen to come home and that something was wrong with Jen. My aunt found her after 10 mins or so, but my aunt told my mom what had happened when they got home and were really freaked out that we had some weird Twin ESP thing going on!

@Bababatty good luck on Thursday! Will be sending positive vibes your way!

@soehlerk and @tinabell8 still keeping my fx for all of us this week! My beta is on Thursday. I’ve had spotting since last week, which is weird and didn’t happen the last two times. Way too early for AF but way after the IUI so I have no clue! Trying to stay positive for Thursday but getting really anxious as it’s on to IVF for me after this! @soehlerk at least they’re finally giving you that SA!

@honeybeebub - I'll keep fingers and toes crossed for you :)

    @soehlerk, @tinabell8 & @mac627 - good luck to all 3 of you!!

    AFM:
I am CD12 today (yay!) and going in to the clinic again on Friday (CD14) for another blood test and an ultrasound to check follicles, so comfortably assuming we'll be told to BD on the weekend. I'm so nervous this cycle, I think especially (*TW*) as this is my first cycle post-miscarriage.
I am optimistic though. Because we were lucky enough to get a positive relatively early in the process I'm hoping we're just as lucky this time around.. We have been trying for around 15 months now, but only had 2 proper monitored cycles before this one.

    QOTW:
I don't really know if I've had anything spooky happen to me. The only thing I can think of is that I used to hear my name called fairly often, then once when I was home alone I heard a big crash in my bedroom. When I went in there I found a frame picture had come off the wall and somehow moved itself to the other side of the room. I was only about 10 years old and was terrified and yelled for whatever it was to go away and leave me alone. I didn't hear my name called out anymore after that. :)

  • Good morning ladies!

@GoldenKeys I'm so glad you're ok but sorry to hear about DHs family. I can only imagine the eventual stress of having extra house guests all the time, you are a wonderful daughter in law <3

Just in case she's still reading the updates I wanted to say congrats to @MooFish2364! I just read all the updates!

Hugs to @eranvo27, so sorry had to go through that.

Good luck to the IUIers, @Bababatty for your FET and @tops-2 that you do end the year with a positive.

Ive been a little MIA due to just not feeling like I belong anywhere anymore. We've kind of put all tracking and monitoring on the back burner since we've been preoccupied with our foster son. And have even discussed not pursuing IVF and if something happens great but if not we'll just help more kids through the foster system. So I've been trying not to think about that but of course the whole "what if we don't end up with bio kids" thoughts creep into my mind and bring on a slew of emotions.

QOTW: No spooky encounters here. I try to avoid scary situations whenever possible...huge wimp over here.

  • @Bababatty Everything crossed for your FET this week!
@soehlerk Sorry for the BFN. I can't imagine having to sell my home, but hopeful for you that the move will end up being a positive for you and your husband.
@tinabell8 FX for you that your beta comes back positive and you won't even need the SA. But seriously, why did it take so long for the RE to suggest this? I feel like it's a pretty standard RE thing to test both parties involved?
@mac627 Good luck at your beta!
@tops-2 Happy BD'ing! Hopefully the luck sticks and this monitoring is just what you needed!
@SoonToBeMommaHowe Fostering is an amazing thing. I hope whatever you decide gives you peace. Even if you don't feel like you "belong" anywhere, it's great to hear an update from you :)

  • @honeybeebub We must have posted at the same time yesterday because I totally missed your first post. Your spooky experience just gave me goosebumps!  Also, I understand about the pressure with the milestones.  The year markers are the worst.  I like your positive (hehehe ;)) energy.  Good luck this cycle!

@soehlerk I'm so, so sorry about the BFN.  Remind me, your RE doesn't want to put you on progesterone?  I'm glad you have a lot of things coming up to keep you occupied.  Hugs to you today.

@tinabell8 and @mac627 Good luck with your betas this week!!  @tinabell8 I'm glad your RE finally agreed to the SA.

@tops-2 Good luck this weekend!  May your timing be good, and YH's swimmers be strong. :)

@SoonToBeMommaHowe I'm glad you came back.  I really value having you on this board, although I know it must be hard if you don't know where you really fit.  How are you all settling in as a family with your foster son??

  • @Bababatty She said that the low progesterone was only a symptom of the weak ovulation.  In this past cycle, my progesterone was up at a 39.1, so I'm pretty surprised that I had a shorter cycle this time.

@Bababatty good luck with your FET!  It's amazing how quickly/slowly time can pass during this process.  TWW feels like a year but it feels like just yesterday we started IVF.  Hoping this is your cycle!

@tinabell8 good luck with your first beta, hope you get a BFP!

AFM- Went in to the RE today because I'm on CD51, stupid period.  So I start Prometrium tonight to kick start my cycle and just wait for AF to show the f up.  This next cycle we plan to do an ERA and also test for uterine inflammation to try to figure out further what the crap my uterus is doing.  I'm also going back to the doctor I saw for my second opinion on Nov 6th to just get her input after reviewing our embryo results.  We might actually switch doctors after these two embryos if we still don't have any luck. So the short answer would have been I am taking medication and waiting, the story of my life.

QOTW-  I was sitting in bed one day and a jewelry box on my nightstand flipped over on to its back and our wedding picture near it fell over too.  It was a jewelry box that used to belong to my grandma so it kind of creeped me out.

@tinabell8 - keeping FX for you tomorrow!

@mac627 - keeping FX for you today!

@tops-2 - keeping FX for you!

@SoonToBeMommaHowe - I am so so happy for you! I hope your little boy is thriving! Sounds like you are going through a huge period of transition.

@worldtravler0522 - ugh, a 51 day cycle would be the worst. I'm so curious about the ERA - looking forward to reading about your experience with it!

AFM: Waiting for my FET next week. I'm having a u/s and bloodwork done tomorrow. Two months ago I couldn't wait for this - when I was waiting on the surgery and hoping desperately I'd be able to move forward. Even after the ER, I wanted to get to the embryo transfer so, so badly. Now that it's close, I'm on the verge of tears all the time. I want this period of my life to be over so badly; I'm afraid that it's going to keep going, and I'm afraid that all of the wonderful things I've hoped for - the pregnancy and the calculating the due date and the imagining meeting our little baby - I'm afraid that it's never going to happen, and that I'm just going to encounter more disappointment. Ugh.

    IF sucks.
  • @funkykey I feel you, friend.  I'm still back in the IUI section of this IF journey, and there are days I just don't think I can take it anymore.  When I got AF at 3am Monday morning, I just lay in bed sobbing.  I crave the hope, and the disappointment is crushing.  I hope you have support around you--friends or family--who you can lean on.  They're truly invaluable in encouraging and distracting you right now.  ::hugs::  :'(

  • @soehlerk - yep. It's so hard to explain - I'm getting lots of sleep (at least 8 hours a night), and resting and trying to eat well and take care of myself. Yet I'm exhausted all the time. It's like I'm mentally & emotionally totally drained. I'm like a zombie, checking my patient portal and making sure I've got my dosages right (triple checking!), shuffling through my days.

Like all of this - all this heartbreak and disappointment - it's been so, so draining. And just when I think I've cried all my tears and I can't cry anymore, there's this little sliver of hope and I keep shuffling along, making phone calls.

Big hugs to you too. It's so, so brutal.
  • @funkykey ugh I feel you!! IF absolutely sucks. It’s so hard to go through the hope and disappointment cycle over and over again. Hope this fet is the end of this crap for you!!

@soehlerk totally get feeling like you’re on par with fertile people! Well said! Ha. Your anniversary sounds nice! Hope you enjoy your pie. :)

AFM BFN today at my beta. Sigh. Called to order my IVF meds. Excited for the next step in the process and hoping this will be it for us! At SOME point it has to work ha. Going to a B&B in the mountains this weekend for some r&r. Planned this a while ago expecting we’d need a getaway. This will be our last weekend before starting IVF- I’ll probably end up going in Monday for my first monitoring appt.

@tinabell8 still holding out hope for you!

  • Hugs to you @funkykey. IF sucks, it's hard, stressful and just downright not fair. As hard as it is - try to hang in there. We're all here to support you :) And same to you @soehlerk, and of course anyone else who is having a rough time.

    AFM:
I had a scan and blood test this morning and I have TWO mature follies! I'm so excited - I've never had more than one before :) There's actually a third too but it's not fully mature. My clinic doesn't like anyone to proceed with more than two either, because they say it's too risky to have multiples. But with TI the only way to cancel the cycle is just to ask us to not have sex, and I'm not that easy to convince haha
Anyway, my LH had started to rise this morning and they're testing again tomorrow morning to check that I'm having a surge.
I have fingers and toes crossed for a good outcome this cycle :)

  • @hoffmanr7 Great news. Hope they’ll be able to get you right in for a cycle, that would be awesome!

@eranvo27 Giving you creepy internet hugs. TTCAL is incredibly trying. I know it’s certainly changed who I am. I feel like everyone has a breaking point where it’s just not worth losing more of yourself in the process. Hope you are feeling better.

@worldtravler0522 Creepy story! Maybe a new doctor would be a good thing to kind of re-set the approach?

@funkykey Wishing you the best of luck for FET next week!!  Keep that sliver of hope going strong. Hopefully with this transfer your IF story will end so you never have to feel this disappointment again.

@mac617 Sorry for the BFN, but the B&B sounds wonderful.

@tops-2 Congrats on the 2 follies!

@soehlerk and @mac627 I'm so incredibly sorry about the BFN and just want to say, you two sound like real troopers even though you must be suffering emotionally. It's so important to just try to look forward and have hope for the next time.  You both deserve a trip away and a LOTS of  R&R. I'm FX that next cycle will be the one. Sending hugs your way!

@tops-2 yay for the mature follicles!! FX for this cycle!

@funkykey I am sending you hugs. People just don't realize how emotionally, physically, and mentally draining going through IF is. We are stronger than we realize because we don't have any other choice. Just know that you are not alone in your thoughts and fears, and that we are certainly here for you. It can feel just so utterly overwhelming at times. I'm hoping the other side of this journey is just around the corner for@tops-2

AFM, I took a HPT test last night and it was a BFP. With my previous BFP in July, my Beta was ridiculously low and I started bleeding 4 days later, so i was holding my breath for bloodwork this morning. This afternoon, my Beta came back at 164 and progesterone 48. I am equally thrilled and overwhelmed with fear that this will be another loss, it's been such a weird day, it's almost like I'm trying not to get attached to the news, for fear that it will have the Same result as my last pregnancies. Part of me feels over the moon that IUI worked, and my husbands sperm was good, and that maybe this time will be different! And then there's the part that doesn't want go through any more stress of loss and problems with IF. I hope someone here understands what I mean. So for now, My husband and I have decided we deserve to be happy in this moment and we're just going to take one day at a time and pray that this is the one that sticks!!

Ugh @hoffmanr7 I'm so sorry you're had to endure listening to your coworkers complaints. TW*** My cousin just had her first baby (I think she's 10 years younger than me, unmarried, etc so you know how my feelings were) and she complained the ENTIRE pregnancy. Please just stop!!

    @tops-2 yay for 2 follies!

I'm sitting over here at CD25 with no clue when I O'd. Anyone think it's strange that my normally 32-34 day cycle has suddenly become consistently 36-38 days (the last three cycles)? I mentioned to my Doctor and she seemed unconcerned. However she also told me to start BDing the 3 days after O to get KU so I'm not sure how much stock I put into what she says.

Hi everyone! Seasoned reader and first time poster wanting to get involved in discussions.

We've been TTC for almost 2 years with no findings throughout all our diagnostic testing, so I guess my diagnosis is unexplained infertility. I am about to undergo trigger then IUI after my first round of FSH injections. My history is below. Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone!

**UPDATE**- After posting yesterday, I continued some online research and found a medical journal article stating that IUIs are most effective when done at least 36 hours after hCG trigger (about double effective at 48h). My question to you all, is whether or not this is well known as best practice. If so, I'm a little angry that my time frames between HCG trigger and IUI have been at 30, 27, and 25 hours! Very different from that minimum 36h! Granted, it is some kind of Middle Eastern journal, but here is the link: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1110569015300121

  • @nurseerin2012 welcome and good luck with your IUI!

Thanks for the good vibes & wishes ladies, it really means so much to me.

My second Beta today came back at 749 after 164 on Friday! I am feeling relieved and hopeful. Praying this is it. I will have an early ultrasound next week.

Also, I don't know if any of you ladies are superstitious (Re: crazy), but I thought i'd put out there the weird crap I've been doing leading up to and after my IUI. I know it sounds nuts but I ALWAYS have cold feet, like freezing cold and I never ever wear socks. Someone at work told me their family has a superstition that cold feet =cold womb, which I thought was completely ridiculous, but I did a little research and saw that it could be because of poor circulation and blood flow and many acupuncturists recommend doing a hot foot bath. SO... I literally soaked my feet in warm water for like 20 mins each night and forced myself to wear socks every damn day. It was actually quite enjoyable and relaxing. I have no idea if this helped in any way shape, or form, but my husband keeps joking and saying the socks and foot baths did the trick. Also, I drank about 1/4c pure pomegranate juice and ate pineapple for two weeks straight leading up to and after my IUI.  Finally, I also had my husband and I take 200mg daily of CoQ10 as I read it helps with cell repair, and I am still taking it today. I'm sure there's a very good chance none of these things worked and we just got lucky, but I figured I'd share in hopes others have success too.

  • @SoonToBeMommaHowe - ugh, I dunno. I had pretty regular cycles when I was just TTC, but when I added clomid and the IVF drugs, there was way more variance to my cycles. Some were 26 days, others were 32. It was wild! Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about it, not unless they start to get really long... You may have a short cycle soon, too.

@nurseerin2012 - welcome! I'm sorry for your struggles and hope you find support here. So, you're on your 5th IUI? How old are you? Do you think you'll move on to IVF after this, or keep with the IUIs?

I had a few concerns about my IUI timing. My first IUI we did after I O'ed myself, and (if I remember correctly) there was some indication that my lead follicle might have been "over mature". I convinced myself that this happened because the LH doesn't show in your urine for a while after it spikes, so I thought my LH had surged a while before. I thought if I did blood tests and triggered instead, I wouldn't have the "over mature" follicle problem. So the next two I did blood tests for, and triggered - both of those IUIs were about 30-36 hours after. I didn't get pregnant with either.

I definitely think it's worth asking your RE about, if only for your peace of mind. I say "try it" - like, try waiting the extra few hours and seeing if it takes!

Unexplained IF sucks! Good luck to you!

@tinabell8 - I took CoQ10 all through preparing for IVF, and I have 4 frozen embryos. I mean, I've only done the one round, but still... I've got no problems with CoQ10.
