  Ugh my 6 year old dachshund just pottied all over our living room tonight. I can only imagine myself chasing DS and the dog around with a Tupperware. More power to you for getting him interested in it though!!

  In my family they have always started potty training around 1 year to 1.5 years old. I just can't imagine J being anywhere close to learning to be honest. 
  
  I was asking some of the moms in our group with older children and most of them did not potty train their children until after 2. One of them sent me the article below and some of it made sense to me. So I'm not in any rush to do it. I think I'll let her take the lead like I have with everything else. Even though it sounds amazing to be out of diapers before then.

  That article makes a lot of sense! Elise is at home with me so I will probably just do elimination communication like I'm doing a bit now until she is really ready. I'm not sure if I like the idea of cloth diapering two children though...

  Oh, I'm not truly potty training potty training. Just starting with the interest/some EC. He's still in daycare and the class he's moving to will start to bring them to potty. Just thought the slow road might be more tantrum free. And I, honestly, can't imagine still changing diapers in 2-3 years (a neighbor's kid wasn't potty trained until he was turning 4)

  I highly recommend the "Oh Crap! Potty Training" book. The concepts worked well for DD1. The author recommends potty training between 20 and 30 months old. I potty trained DD1 at 20 months because she was showing clear signs of being ready but I wish I had waited a little longer.

  I started when my oldest was 18 months and started showing sime signs. I took just 1 day and she wasn't ready. I always left the potty chair out so she could see it and use it if she wanted. Every few couple months I'd try for 1 day to see if she was ready. At 28 months, the 1 day worked! She was fully trained 3 days later. M&M's were her prize. 1 for peeing 5 for pooping. 
  
  Ive learned that potty training is just as much physical as it is mental and it's WAY easier if you do it when the child is ready instead of pushing it.
  
  Love that you're intruducing the concepts early, I think that's great! M will probably be getting a potty chair for Christmas. And I'll be following her lead on when to actually potty train.

  I'm just talking about potty a lot and taking her with me when I go (my mom does as well).  I ask her if she is going poop when I can clearly tell if she is going.  I'm mostly working on word association with it for the time being.  The other day she did run into the bathroom, grab TP and then pretend to wipe herself...twice so it was no coincidence.  I'll take her lead for when she is ready but until then- I'm going to hype it up!

  Also following E's lead on potty training . It'd be really nice not to have 2 in diapers for very long, but I'm not going to rush it.

  I was hoping to successfully use Elimination Communication. But, it doesn't work for us so I just let DS pee wherever on the wood floor during bare bum time.

  Yes, we started when the baby turned 11 months. Its going well but it definitely requires repetition. As long as you stick to the routine the baby adjusts.
