IT’S OUR BIRTH MONTH!!!

itsourbirthmonthitsourbirthmonthitsourbirthmonth!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t believe it’s finally November!
Ok just had to get that outta my system :)
How are you ladies feeling? Nervous, excited, anxious, scared, indifferent? Up until today I was feeling pretty unprepared even though we have everything we need, mostly because I’m not sure how my 17 month old is going to take this new addition, but now I’m feeling at peace with it. Yesterday I officially scheduled my induction for the 13th, less than 2 weeks away! I have faith that once the new guy is here everyone will settle into their new roles gracefully. Here’s to hoping anyway ;) Any last minute advice or preparation ideas I would love to hear too! Happy November Mamas!

  • With all the recent births, can we maybe get a roll call of who is left that is active and when their EDD or induction date is?

  • I am so happy it's Novemeber bring on the waiting game. I am still working up til the 10th so hoping to get all the "need to be done stuff" done this week for work so if I go early i know work will be ok. I am due on the 13th but everyone thinks I will go before my due date which would be fine with me as I am ready to meet this little one. Also I still need to pack my hospital bag. I will be the person in labour packing my bag at the rate I am going.
  • It's finally hitting me that our daughter will be here in 4 weeks or less! We have everything we need (I think) and I just need to order some night time nursing bras. I hadn't thought of that before because I don't wear a bra to bed (way too uncomfortable), but the idea of potentially leaking and needing to put in the pads has made me think having some soft, sports bra style options is a good idea.

My biggest focus right now is trying to see if I can get a re-test on group b strep (tested positive last week) and reverse to a negative by taking probiotics, eating lots of yogurt and taking apple cider vinegar baths. I really wanted to avoid the antibiotics if possible and quite a few midwives swear by this regime to get rid of group b strep. If it doesn't work, I will just use the antibiotics, but crossing my fingers I don't have to!
  • @jennbee007 good luck today meeting your baby girl!

  • I was going to start this one too! LOL! I'm so excited right now! My c-section is scheduled for the 20th, so we are so close to meeting this little girl!!

  • I'm here. Due 11/12 and have a scheduled c-section for 11/14 if he does not arrive on his own by then. I was having more contractions than I was comfortable with last Friday, so I am definitely glad to still be here in November. Last day of work is 11/10 - I don't think I can explain how much of a relief that is.

My FIL is here until tomorrow. Once he leaves we will install the car seat and that will be a big step. We need to set up the bassinet in the next couple days as well. And I need to wash and hang/his clothes. And get anything I still need off the registry (mostly bath and diaper stuff). THEN I will pack my hospital bag and be as ready as I can be at this point.

DH needs to put the house back together since we just had our living room wallpapered and FIL will soon clear out of our upstairs guest bedroom.

I wanted to have our 3-row car bought by the time baby gets here, but I don't think that's happening at this point.

    Overall, feeling only semi-ready.

  • Some of you ladies are getting so close! I still have 3 weeks until my due date (11/23-Thanksgiving Day)...and who knows, she still could be late. It's making me so anxious!
  • SOOO excited and feeling ready! My due date is 11/24, still a couple weeks away, but I'm focusing on the fact that we'll be full term in just two days. Woohoo! I've been having a lot more Braxton Hicks and some sharp cervical pains, so I feel like my body is rockin' and rollin' and getting ready to bring this little one into the world. Really hoping he/she doesn't come late.

@dragonfly87-2 I've heard really good things about those methods for preventing or getting rid of strep B, too. (I did the probiotics and yogurt for a couple weeks before my test.) However, I asked my midwife last week if I could get retested if I tested positive, and she said that my practice still treats you with the antibiotics during labor if you've tested positive at ANY time during your pregnancy! I hope your practice doesn't have that protocol in case you're able to eliminate it -- fingers crossed for you. I got really lucky and found out yesterday that I'm negative.
  • Well I was feeling excited and ready until my mother called and told me she believes she has a shingles outbreak she was going to be our babysitter for our 1 1/2 year old when I went into labor but if she has an outbreak I do not want her bringing that into our house the new baby will not be protected against it nor would I want our daughter or ourselves exposed. Now I just want to cry hubby is talking about just having to miss the birth. We don't have a lot of trustworthy family we can rely on to babysit her till our second daughter is born because as soon as she is I'm sending hubby home to take over childcare and just come back and visit the next day till I'm home. Im scrambling in my mind to figure something out or someone we know and trust who could possibly come stay with her at least for the night or day. Sucks that we just don't know when it's going to happen because if during the day people will be at work if at night she will be sleeping so just need someone to come stay for the night feeling so defeated.
  • I’m excited and definitely ready to meet this little guy! We are scheduled for our c section on Nov 21. Hard to believe it’s just 20 more days!!!!!
  • @dragonfly87-2 FX that it works for you!!

I still have 3 weeks 3 days to go. I’m anxious to get her out of me because I am beyond uncomfortable and hurting but I’m also grateful for every day she stays put to keep her safe and growing. I’m getting a NST every day now and that is getting annoying but it’s precautionary and only for a few more weeks. We still have to put the finishing touches up in her nursery which we will do this weekend. I’m a little worried about what we are going to do with our 2 yr old when I go into labor. We have no one down here to watch him. He will just have to come with us.

  • My due date is tomorrow....I can't believe it's here! I seriously thought I'd have a baby by now lol! I'm growing SUPER impatient after a few weeks of "is today the day??" And texts from anxious family every day. My last appointment is tomorrow morning and if nothing happens by next Thursday, I'll be induced so pray my little man comes out soon!! :)
  • Happy Birth Month, ladies!! I’m due 11/24, but I’m expecting to be induced early due to some health issues. I will find out when I meet with MFM on Friday. I’m very much over being pregnant and I feel so bad saying that, but it’s true. We still have quite a few things we still need to get. DH is finally home for the next three months so we are going to get everything this weekend. We are also going to test drive some cars since we need a bigger vehicle. We are absolutely procrastinators. I’m just ready to meet this little girl and complete our family.
  • Yayy! Yes finally November is here! I am due next Friday 11/10/17 but as of yesterday I am still only 1cm dilated....so I plan on being induced on 11/17/17 if baby hasn't already come!
  • Yay! I can't believe it's finally November! My EDD is the 18th, but as of Monday, the doctor said it could be within the next 10 days! I'm nervous, but mostly excited. I can't wait to meet our daughter and see what she looks like!
  • My c-section is scheduled 11/27/17, but I don't think LO will stay put that long. I'm so excited to meet my little man soon, but I'm planning to work till 11/22/17.
  • Ahhhhh so excited!!! Our little girl is due on Nov 23 and we can't wait to meet her - 3 more weeks, give or take! I still need to pick up some stuff for me but other than that we are ready. Oh and pick a name... Our list is narrowed down to 14 haha. My last day of work is Nov 11 and I would be thrilled if she came any time after that :)
Seeing the birth announcements from the other mommas makes it all that much more exciting!
  • it still doesn't feel real! I'm due with my second on 11/26 so we still have 3.5 weeks, I don't really feel prepared but big sister is starting to understand more that a baby is coming. We're team green so excited to find out what s/he is but still don’t have a name picked out. I guess we’ll know when we meet

  • @cwalker042 and @shortstuff15 lurker jumping in,  but you may want to check with your hospital.  Most won't allow minors during the birthing process.  Think really hard of anyone you could have watch your little ones in this emergency situation,  a co-worker with kids you trust,  a neighbor,  daycare provider,  friend, the parent of one of your child's friends.  There are even companies like care.com you could hire.

  • I've had 2 births at two different hospitals with my other children present, and plan on doing the same again at yet another hospital. They always told me it was my birth, my choice. A c-section situation would of course be something different.
  • Not to sound like a Bit*c but the hospital doesn’t have a choice. I do not allow anyone to watch my child other than the daycare he is at and family. We just moved to this state a year ago and I just recently started working outside the home so there aren’t any coworkers I would trust with my child. I’ve already read the paperwork and it only states that minors cannot spend the night. Other than that, it said nothing about children not being able to be in the delivery room. We will see....

Yay we made it... My baby girl is due Nov 23rd bit will be here via C-section Nov 16th. 13 more days... I can't wait :) I have everything ready! BUT My little boy 20 months old has been sick with some sort of GI bug, this makes day #8. Went to pediatrician Tuesday who sent us to the ER for severe dehydration. Got to come home the same day thankfully after fluids, but still don't know what's wrong. He's throwing up and bad diarrhea still. Waiting for the results from the stool samples to come back to hopefully we can find out what we're dealing with. He hasn't been sleeping good either since he's been sick. Very nervous and anxious to get him better and find out what he has. Its scary to think I'll be bringing a newborn home with a sck toddler :( I'm praying and hoping so hard to get him better and cleared up by then. Good luck to you all :)
  • My due date is in 19 days! But I'm pretty sure baby will be early. Last Thurs I was at a 1 and my cervix was thinned and shallow so he pretty much said its a waiting game. My sciatica has been getting bad and was the worst today (I could barely walk) and I've had lightening crotch a lot today. I am terrified he will come this week since DH will be at drill 3 hours away. As long as we can get through this weekend idc when baby comes!
  • I’m due November 29th- still a few weeks to go but I can say I’m due at the end of the month now!
  • I'm scheduled for a c section on the 21st I can't wait to meet my little girl. I have a lot of fluid so they are doing a ultrasound and nst twice a week. I'm 36w 3d and they said she weighs 7lbs 8oz. But my chances of water breaking are high so I'm just nervous.
  • I'm so excited for it to be November! I had my first son on this day (36w,4d) so I'm just happy to know I'm close. I just need to make it through this weekend since I'm babysitting tomorrow morning and my baby shower is Sunday. I will be 37 weeks on Monday so anytime after that is fine with me! My appointment last week I was just starting to dilate and my cervix was soft so I know my body is starting to prepare!
  • edited November 2017
We are exactly the same I will be 37 weeks Monday as well. As far as I know nothing is happening down there but hopefully soon congratulations
  • @mamaof5already I was thinking the same thing re: kids in the delivery room! My hospital only allows them in the labor & delivery unit if they have a caregiver other than the parents. It would be pretty unfortunate to only find that out when you show up in labor and have your partner have to leave with the child.
  • I'm due 11/17 and my last day of work is... 11/17. DH has a promotion test the next day, so if DS could come on 11/19 or 11/20, that would be great. If not, the OB said I will have an US to see if it's okay to induce the Sunday after, which is 11/26. I don't want to go that late considering how bad my swelling and CT are.

@NYTino24 I feel the same about my swelling. I wish LO would come soon because my swelling is horrible. As of Thursday, I can no longer wear my wedding band that has always been 1 size too big. I can no longer wear closed shoes, only flip flops. I had my NST yesterday and she didn’t pass. I had to have a biophysical which she almost failed too. Took her a good 15 mins to move 3 times and one of the times was a yawn. She was practice breathing which is an excellent sign of being heathy but I was hoping she would fail and I’d have to go to the hospital and be induced. I’m 37 weeks today which MFM considers full term. I’m against induction but boy am I extremely uncomfortable.

  • @cwalker042 and @NYTino24 Sorry to hear about all the swelling!

While I no longer look visibly swollen, I either must be or the additional weight gain is causing problems. I haven't fit in normal shoes for the past 3 months. So I have been wearing crocs (a somewhat fashionable version) every day to work and around town. I also haven't been able to wear my wedding ring for months and it used to spin somewhat loosely on my finger. I hope I go back to normal size and fitting into shoes and my ring post-partum.
  • I’ve gone back to normal size after each of my pregnancies but because this pregnancy is completely different than my boys, I’m terrified I won’t this time.

  • @cwalker042 @NYTino24 sorry the swelling is so bad.   Mine was horrible and the sad thing is it still took about a week after birth for it to go down. But I'm back to regular size shoes and my rings fit again.   Hope everyone gets relief soon.

  • I didn't have the constant swelling of ankles but after birth on day 3 I didn't have ankles anymore. It's because of the blood volume loss but also we made more plasma so it's fluid shift and will be peed out. As of yesterday I have ankles again.
  • I am hoping we don't notice any swelling since we will be too busy loving on our babies soon!!
