Physical health check-in 11/3

This thread is for those who are trying to maintain physical activity throughout pregnancy. It can be walking around the block, hitting the gym, training for a marathon, and everything in between.

There is no physical activity too small during pregnancy.

 How far along are you?

What type of activity/activities have you been doing?

How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up?

Questions, raves, rants, concerns?

GTKY- Do you have any funny stories from your workouts/runs? Or witness anything completely crazy from someone else (someone not paying attention and falling off the treadmill or running past someone's house only to glance in and see them standing in their underwear watching TV or anything wild)?

(**Please let me know if you have any ideas for GTKY questions or have an idea to change up some of the standard questions.**)

What type of activity/activities have you been doing?
    Kickboxing gym

I'm feeling ok. Our gym has had a complete turnover rate for their weekday trainers and it sucks. I honestly don't like 2 of the 3 new trainers. They're nice enough, but I just can't get a good energy when I workout with them there. So I have decided to change my workout days around to when the only trainer I like is working and it kind of stinks.

    Questions, raves, rants, concerns?
I guess my rant is above. No concerns or anything.

Since I don't have a long history of workouts, I don't really have a lot of funny stories. There is a guy that comes in that is nicknamed "Kung Fu Master" because he acts like he's in a karate film. He doesn't do the planned exercises for the day, but does weird slaps and slow motion combinations. It's kind of mesmerizing in a way!
Afm, I have been under a bag like this when it has fallen after my kick. Thankfully, it didn't land on me or the trainer next to me. The owner was there and he was so panicked because he didn't see what had happened (rightfully so). We joked around for weeks about my mega leg strength and how they could lift cars and ridiculous stuff like that. They also instituted a new policy that every trainer needs to check the straps during every shift to make sure they aren't too worn out to keep it from happening again.

What type of activity/activities have you been doing? Yoga, walking, and running

How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up? Last week was better. I got in three workouts. This week, I haven’t had any so far, but I’m planning on today, tomorrow, and Sunday.  I get a lot of walking in at work going in and out of the schools, so at least I’m not sitting all day

Questions, raves, rants, concerns? Just waiting for that second tri entergy surge and to stop throwing up. I have a 10K next weekend that I’m pretty sure is going to be shit show, but I refuse to not do it. I’ve never had a DNS at a race.

GTKY- Do you have any funny stories from your workouts/runs? Or witness anything completely crazy from someone else (someone not paying attention and falling off the treadmill or running past someone's house only to glance in and see them standing in their underwear watching TV or anything wild)? Well, I’m definitely the idiot who fell off the treadmill once. And I wish I could say that’s the only time, but it’s not. Both times I lost my footing while running sprints. I’ve also heard people having really loud sex while on a long run and got heckled by some homeless people at a race in Santa Monica.
  • @mileswithmyles,  I think your race will be great next week. You'll get adrenaline and you'll be pushed by seeing the other runners around being all pumped.
And being heckled by people while running???? Rude!
  • @suchaglencoco I feel so childish saying it but I don’t know what I’d do if my trainers left or moved to a different class. That’s so annoying!

@mileswithmyles way to get in 3 workouts while being sick!
  • @MissusTexas, that's how I feel! I was just so comfortable with them and they knew how to push me. Plus they were more of a trainer than these 2 I don't particularly like. Like, they were actually trainers and worked at other gyms. These 2 new ones were/are members at the other gym location.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who would react like that!

What type of activity/activities have you been doing?
HIIT training, lifting and dance fitness

How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up?
I felt so much better this week and if life hadn’t been crazy I could have done 5 workouts, but I squeezed 3 in. I realized in dance Fitness that I can’t do jumps anymore- it felt like my ligaments were protesting :( but I can modify with squats and you can’t do too many squats before baby!

    Questions, raves, rants, concerns?
Yesterday was the first day in months I made it through the day without crashing from exhaustion in the afternoon. It felt so good!

GTKY- Do you have any funny stories from your workouts/runs?
    I can’t think of anything! I’m boring!

What type of activity/activities have you been doing?
So if I am keeping honest here,  I have to modify my usual response from 2-3 days of OTF and 2-3 jogs down to 2 days of OTF and 1-2 jogs. Part of that is due to the issue I'm going to talk about below and the other is scheduling  on the weekends with Hs work.

How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up?
Pretty good. My energy is starting to pick back up so my endurance is coming back.
Success: this week I killed my OTF classes. Feeling pretty good about that.
    Challenges: similar to @suchaglencoco
they recently changed up the trainer schedule. My fave trainer was doing M,W,F,Sat, which was perfect bc I'd go every other day (m,w,f) and then throw in a jog here and there. I don't like doing OTF on back to back days, it's hard. Well the took him off Wednesday's which wouldn't be a huge problem except they replaced him with the ONE trainer I refuse to workout with. I've taken her class 3 times and hated it all 3 times. So that leaves me with M/F. If I take any other class, it makes it so I'm back to back, unless I take an afternoon W class but I hate workout out later than like 9am. Blech.

    Questions, raves, rants, concerns?
Does anyone know at what week you should start being extra careful about ab work? We had an ab blast in class today, and it made me wonder. Obviously still ok now bc not much going on with the ab muscles yet, but imagine that time is nearing?

once I was doing box jumps at the gym and missed. I hardcore scrapped my shin and was bleeding. Some old guy started to yell at me bc of it-that I needed to be careful and I shouldnt do workouts that I wasn't capable of. I was like dude, calm down I do these all the time and this is the first time I've ever not made the jump, but I def didn't finish the round. Not because of the pain but bc the dude kept staring me down!

What type of activity/activities have you been doing?
The first trimester has hit me hard, but typically hiking, biking, yoga, walking.

How are you feeling about your activity? Any recent successes you want to share? Any challenges coming up?
We have traveled a few times recently, both trips that required lots of walking. Yesterday I hiked for the first time in a month. I didn't feel great, but didn't feel terrible. Dying for a little energy back in 2nd trimester. FX.

    Questions, raves, rants, concerns?

Just so tired of being tired! I want to get out more, especially with nicer weather here!

GTKY- Do you have any funny stories from your workouts/runs? not really... just drives me bananas when I see tourists out hiking a double black diamond in sandals. I am not impressed that my tax dollars are going to have to go toward saving your ass off the side of a mountain...
  • @mileswithmyles dang girl. That’s some will power!
  • @mileswithmyles yeah, so I just looked it up- looks like the consensus is nothing on your back after the first trimester. So I guess I have two weeks left :(

i figured it would be more like once you really started to show... guess not.
  • Omg!  Glad you still went, @suchaglencoco

I ran again today. 3 days in a row!
  • So just hopping over here.  You all are getting it done. I am finally off pelvic rest. I have been running about 2 miles everyday and following it up with a 2 mile walk.  Hoping the snow stays at bay. I love running in the cold.
