I outwardly pretend that Christmas stuff is ridiculous and consumerist so soon after Halloween, but secretly feel happy when I hear Christmas music in ads. On November 2. Weeks before Thanksgiving. @_@
@gh515 I was watching Hocus Pocus Halloween night and all the commercials were Christmas commercials. I texted my shock and outrage to my mom and H but then to myself I was like "3.5 weeks until we can get out Christmas tree and bust out the decorations!!!!"
Me: 36 DH: 37 Married: 5.27.16 Baby Boy Due: 3.18.18
I don't think Christmas and Remembrance Day have any correlation to each other. You can start decorating for Christmas before Nov. 11, and still honour the veterans and active duty military. And I have PLENTY of active duty, and veterans in my family, who feel the same. We got on a discussion of who made this decision that to honour one, you must not start to celebrate the other.
@Kalawa agreed. One does not cancel out the other.
UO: the term “snowflake” is one used by people too full of themselves to simply articulate that they disagree with someone’s thoughts/actions.
@ShawnnaO, I used to see that term a lot here in TB. Now any time I see it I it's usually in the comments section of news articles and I assume it's a Russian troll

UO (to some people) All public schools should require routine vaccinations unless the child has a specific, diagnosed health related reason to not receive them.
I’m low key judging you when your children have long/ filthy finger nails.
WOMP WOMP WOMP. It is so so so so so hard to keep up on nail trims. I do my best! My kids play on the playground at school which includes a sandbox, and they often come home a hot mess. I try to do daily baths, but sometimes, when I'm solo parenting (which is often) and don't get home until 6 when bedtime is 7.....yeah. Cut me some slack, yo.
***March '18 October Siggy Challenge: Halloween Costume Fails***
@kalawa if I didn’t have guests coming in town next week, the Christmas decorations would already be up. I don’t see the correlation either and like @bettyvonsomethingstein I’ve never heard of that.
*warning: I’m going to get slightly political. So please scroll on past if reading political stuff bothers you, I completely understand. *
UO:
I respect most people opinions even if we do not share the same ideals, however if you start complaining about people kneeling/disrespecting a flag while wearing clothing with the same flag on it, I stop thinking your opinion is valid.
Im not saying that my response is correct or appropriate. I just had a really hard time reading my uncles Facebook flag rant while looking at his profile picture where he is wear flag swim trunks and flip flops... dude. You are literally standing on the flag and rubbing your junk on it. Are you really trying to convince me that peaceful protest is more disrespectful ‘to the troops’? Yes, please remind me how your son was a marine and how that makes your opinion more valid than anyone else’s.
^ I want to jump on this a little bit and say, my opinion is that anyone complaining about anyone's peaceful protest and calling it unpatriotic is being deliberately ignorant, full stop.

@Cowboycorgi this is not to debate, but to add my two cents: I don’t particularly care if you stand, kneel, or stay in the locker room. It would mean a lot more to me if you used your money and time outside of a PR opportunity to actually make a difference. But then again, I think professional athletes are overpaid.
@bettyvonsomethingstein I’m sorry!! I really am! I can’t help it even when I see adults with dirty nails I get the heebies. Exceptions are made, like if a kid is playing outside, their nails are 100% going to get dirty! I work childcare (not full day, just a drop in program) and kids come in filthy, in filthy clothes, with filthy nails. But their momma? She never looks less than fully made up. She could prob clip their nails in the time it takes her to apply the false lashes. *shrug*

But @mdfarmchick, the PR opportunity is absolutely using your high profile to bring attention to the issue at hand. And there's nothing stopping any athlete from donating time and money to their efforts on top of it. It's not an either/or.
I just really have a huge problem with people trying to dictate the manner in which someone should be able to protest, especially a peaceful protest. (I understand this is not what you're saying. I'm now just ranting)
And don't get me started on Papa John. I want to nut punch that guy. He is as disgusting as his pizza.

My nails are equally as bad as my kids, I guarantee you. I miss getting my nails done!! Actually, I'm not giving myself enough credit. My kids both had baths last night and nails clipped a few days ago. I'm mother of the year -- TODAY
I can only hope when people look at my happy, sweet crazy, boys, even on the days when they aren't groomed to perfection, that they aren't judging me, or them, but seeing them as happy, crazy, and sweet, and also seeing a mama doing the best she can, ya know?

Lol this makes me feel bad for my mom. I don't know if I was just crazy when I was little or if I actually had sensory issues but I hattttteddd the way things felt on my fingertips so I always wanted my nails long to lessen the feelings. My mom would have to hold me down while I screamed and sobbed, so half the time my nails were gross and long. But I totally agree it's weird when you see a kid who looks like they haven't been bathed in a week and a half and their parent is perfectly groomed.
@bettyvonsomethingstein, That is also an opinion I share, but I feel like that is a more popular opinion than not being able to look past clothing choices while people complain. Lol! I feel like my UO might be petty, but I just can’t get past the hypocracy.
@mdfarmchick, That could be said of a lot of fame based careers, but I also feel like anything a famous person does could be called a PR opportunity whether that was the intention or not. I can’t really speak about atheletes in general...
@syssa-o I feel like DD's nails get very suddenly too long. Like, did the grow that much overnight? And she is so squirmy I *may* sometimes put off cutting them a day. I'm sure I've been judged at daycare.

@bettyvonsomethingstein I guess I meant, more of this is something you do regularly rather than the once a year trip to the soup kitchen or the once a year trip to the children’s hospital? Or the PR coverage because you just beat your wife ((I’m looking at you Ray Lewis)) or got a DUI. I’m a little cynical about it. Ha.
Like I said, it makes no difference to me if you stand, kneel or stay in the locker room. I just wish there was a corresponding action that went with your peaceful protest. And I wish less people would focus on the “disrespecting our flag/military” aspect of it. There are much more egregious things going on everyday that “disrespect” our flag and our military.
There are two personal hygiene things I’m super weird about.... nails and ears. Not that my nails are always “done” but I need to clip and clean them. Seeing me do it in the evenings somehow made my DS enjoy it. So he brings me his clippers which is half the battle I guess... there’s never any squirming or anything. Don’t even get me started on ears.... if I feel like my ears need done I will get up out of bed to go clean them. I know for a fact I over clean my ears and use q-tips in ways they shouldn’t be used.
Guilty, this morning I looked at my 5yos fingers and told her they were gross and had every intention of cutting them before school and as soon as I had the thought it was gone and I was out the door for work. Hopefully she cleaned them herself but who knows.

UO I don’t really like newborn photo shoots. Every one looks exactly the same to the point that the babies could all be the same.
@antoto it’s such an odd concept to me that it’s not ALREADY required. I went to 4 different schools before graduating high school. Every single one required vaccinations, and even had nurses come in during flu season who gave the shot for free. And my highschool also required yearly physical exams if you wanted to participate in sports. So agreed, it definitely should be required unless you have legitimate medical reasons for not being vaccinated.
@ShawnnaO So technically most schools "require them" but they also offer parents the option to sign a waiver if they have "personal beliefs" against them.
ETA - but also when we were in HS not having teens vaccinated was WAYYY more rare than it is today.

@stlbuckeye132 papa John or whoever came out saying he blames their bad sales on black football players protesting for civil rights, if I’m remembering correctly.

He's blaming kneeling players for his declining sales numbers. Couldn't possibly be, one, he's been super vocal politically and people don't like his gross politics, or two, his pizza is nasty. Basically he's a jerk.

@antoto@shawnnaO Even for me being homeschooled, my mom had us vaccinated to the gills. She's a nurse, so we got everything they could give us a shot for. The only weird one being her doctor forbid her from getting the Swine flu shot since she and my dad had weird reactions to it. I can't imagine folks not wanting to protect their child from some of these illnesses that killed so many people in the past.
I think it's rude to purposely not love tit someone on threads where everyone is aw-ing stuff. I get if they are a random person or if they make a statement that distracts from the theme of the post, but in general I think everyone deserves love tits when we are aw-ing stuff. For example, HDBD and Sex reveal and ultrasound threads.
Also, Christmas music is terrible. I have never once sought out holiday music to listen to. I don't have a very religious background, so maybe it's because I didn't grow up listening to it.
UO (to some people) All public schools should require routine vaccinations unless the child has a specific, diagnosed health related reason to not receive them.
I might get flamed for this, but unless a child has a true medical reason to not be vaccinated then it should not be optional.
@syssa-o my son’s nails are gross no matter how much I trim and clean them. I swear, I can bathe him before bed and he wakes up filthy. I don’t know what the deal is. Lol
ETA it should not be optional regardless if they are PS, HS or such.

Dude! I disagree with everyone today! Sorry, guys! I have so many opinions!!!!
I think people should never, ever, NEVERRRRRR go down the rabbit hole of tracking or commenting on who love-tits or likes another person's stuff. I hate this. HATE. IT. There could be many resasons for it. Maybe it wasn't seen or posted when another person was in that thread, or maybe that person was a jerk to you and you just plain don't want to acknowledge them. Or maybe someone dressed their kid up in Halloween costume of a famous homophobic person and you honestly hated it and refuse to be forced to like it. Either way, who cares? Drawing attention to it always creates problems, and if you just let people do their own thang, then on the off chance there actually is a problem, it'll have a better chance of working itself out organically if you just leave it alone.
This *always* becomes an issue in FB groups, and I find it so annoying. I think that if you feel someone isn't giving you enough attention by liking their stuff, then you should check your own feelings and get over it, assume there is no problem unless/until you hear directly from that person that there is a problem.

I seriously get anxious about this! TB app makes it hard to see if you have already clicked on the love it button and since the app no longer takes you straight to the last post you read, I lose track of them and often won't do it at all so as not to leave someone out.
So for the record, I love all of the ultrasounds, HDBD, and sex reveals! Those are the best posts ever
@bettyvonsomethingstein I agree. I can barely remember who to tag, let alone who liked my crap. I sometimes aimlessly read things and really don't mean any harm by not liking it.
Also, even if people disagree with me, HDBD and US pics should be exempt from any sort of scrutiny in the loving-titting department for the simple reason that it takes 20 minutes to load one picture, and who has time for that? I never get to see all the pics. No patience.

Ok, I understand what you are saying, but I dont agree with what you said about tracking. It's very obvious if you see a volume of love tits on a HDBD that is more on one picture, but less on another, then more on another. It just provokes the question of why did "you" not liking that particular picture? I was more talking about innocent threads I have seen over the years. Not anything offensive or obviously not love tit-able.
I’m with @notthefather sometimes I lovetit and it doesn’t show up and I may catch it or I may not. It’s not personal. And I have the same problem with not remembering which comments I’ve already lovetitted or not when TB app takes me to the top of every.single.post. So if I didn’t lovetit you and I did everyone else, it’s probably because it got overlooked and the app is glitchy.
