How old are your other kids?
    DD is almost 17 months

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now?
Not really a question, just venting. My DD got a runny nose Monday morning and loss of appetite at lunch time that day. By dinner she started throwing up and threw up 8 times by 2AM. Since then she's had several hour long stretches where she's been good followed by more throwing up. She can't keep down solids and sometimes even pedialyte or breast milk won't stay down. Just got back from the doctor and they said she probably has a stomach virus and a cold and that it might be a week before she's back to eating. Fortunately, they said she's well hydrated considering her illness and to keep pushing fluids. Ugh!! She's so tired and just wants to eat but food won't stay down. Its the saddest thing and I hate seeing her like this.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
Current joy is that I got to hear the heart beat of our little bean on Monday. Doctor was able to find it right away. I always love hearing that sweet sound and its so reassuring that everything is going ok so far.

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?
I really have no shame in any of the music that I like. I tend to like more rock and alternative, but do jam to some trendy pop stuff, blues, classic rock, musicals, etc. Maybe something like Shawn Mendez? I catch myself singing in the car to some of his songs on the radio.

How old are your other kids? DD is almost 3

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now? Money. We've been discussing back and forth whether for me to return to work or become a SAHM. I feel like I need to be home, but it would be tough financially. I've considered selling Lularoe clothing to help make ends meet, but I'm worried it'll take too much time away from my children.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: My BFF / cousin-by-marriage is expecting her third in June. I'm so stinking excited we get to experience pregnancy together!

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking? I love funk music and Michael Jackson. DH hates it, so I generally don't listen to it that much anymore when he's around. It's not something I hide though lol.

11w3d. If you ask dh, we're 12 weeks almost every day this week. He cannot remember we hit a new week on Sundays. I blame the recent lack of sleep this past month.

How old are your other kids?
Omg. They're 23 months tomorrow!!!! It hurts my heart. We just sent out their birthday invites. How are my babies almost 2?

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now?
I am super worried about going from 2 to 3. Right now, I have an arm to cuddle both kids when they're upset, but I won't have 3 arms when the new baby comes.
I am also slightly pissed and upset by this question. DH said to me the other night that I've been different this pregnancy and asked if I'm even enjoying it like I did the previous pregnancy. Ummm, wtf is that kind of question?  They're 2 different experiences. Our last pregnancy was after years ofnl struggling, losses, and ivf transfers. I also had no job other than growing our babies. This time around, I'm still in shock we're pregnant AND I have to chase 2 toddlers all day. So no, I am not enjoying this pregnancy as much because I don't have the time or energy to!!
Sorry!  That was a longer vent than intended. I promise my DH isn't a total idiot. He just asks dumb questions at times that turn heated because I'm exhausted.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
We recently had a family photo shoot. It was already planned, but when we found out we were expecting, I asked if she could take announcement photos. She was excited and bought each kid a "I'm a bug sister/brother" book. So sweet. And the twins love "reading" their books or when we read them to them. So I'm getting excited to see them as big siblings. It'll be a handful for a few years, but man, they'll be so close and have so much fun growing up together.

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?
Honestly, I'm pretty open about my awful taste in music at my age now. I just don't really care if people judge that I rock out to T Swift or that I cry along to country ballads or if I belt out (horribly) songs from Wicked.
It was actually really funny because until DD was a year old, if she was upset in the car, we could put on any Taylor Swift song and she'd stop crying. Legit any one of her songs. And no other artist could do it. I am thinking maybe I listened to her a lot when I would drive to my many doctor appointments while pregnant?
  • @mileswithmyles, I am excited to see them! The photographer said she'll send them to me tomorrow. Hooray!!! Then we can go public! Hooray!!!
And what does it say about me that I definitely tried "Baby Got Back"!
There definitely a few times where I had Swift blasting and had to apologize to the angry teen at the drive thru for my daughter's taste in music.
  • @zizzabell523 Please look into recent LLR news. My LLR consultant friends are desperately trying to offload their inventory. I’m afraid it is a sinking ship.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: The girls are getting along so well and this pregnancy has been easier in a way because they can entertain each other.

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking? Nickelback
  • @zizzabell523, yes.please research any company you're looking to invest in. LLR is not going to last long and there are countless sites filled with consultants trying to unload their inventory at low costs.
Unfortunately, a lot of companies that say they're great for sahms aren't unless you can get a ton of people to sign up under you.

And thank you ladies. It's good to know I'm not the only one who isn't just bubbly and glowing this pregnancy.

Is it normal for my son to literally not care that I am pregnant? I worry that going from an only child to having a baby brother or sister might be an adjustment though he has always said and still does that he wants a brother or sister.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
This is my last pregnancy! Can't wait to have my baby. I don't enjoy pregnancy at all.

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?
I don't think my likes in music is too controversial. I like rock and punk and alternative. The one controversial dislike I have is probably my total hatred of Nirvana. Being in Washington state, ugh everyone is about them. I think they are totally overrated!

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
DS LOVED trick or treating last night, it was so adorable. It would be fun to do a family costume next year.

Question - on an average day my daughter would nap for about an hour at 9:30am and then an hour at 2pm but she's been skipping one of them lately.  I wasn't expecting to go down to one nap a day yet.   When did everyone else switch to one a day?

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM
My daughter has just been acting cute as heck lately.  I think we're finally in a break between teeth coming in so she's always in a good mood and has been learning all sorts of new tricks.  I'm sure I just jinxed myself but this is a fun phase!  I'm excited about adding another fun baby to the mix!

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?
I listen to Justin Bieber's Never Say Never album sometimes.  So sue me!

My DD is almost 17 months and she still does 2 naps a day most days. Sometimes on the weekends when she gets to sleep in she'll only take one nap. That second nap is gold right now and I really don't want to lose it. It's when Mommy naps, too!

We recently switched from diapers to pull-ups at night and the pull-ups were leaking about 1/3 of the time. Last night we tried half-waking her up and taking her to the potty right before we went to bed at 10:30 or so. It worked -- she went to the potty and her pull-up did not get so full overnight that it leaked! We will be trying this again. Hopefully this will be the key to dry beds...until we night-train her.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM.
My daughter is starting to talk more about the baby in Mommy's tummy. And she mentioned again how she needs a "pink sister" in the backseat of the car to talk to. It's so cute!

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?
Mmmm, probably the younger singers, like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, etc. They (and their fans) make me feel so old, but they have catchy songs!

I used to watch my neighbor's kid when my daughter was 2-2.5; the other kid is 8 months younger. It was always tough to watch them both, but I was really pleased to see how well my daughter behaved and seemed to understand that her friend needed my extra attention. Hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised by your soon-to-be-older one!

  • @Kendrajos just when I thought we could be friends...lol!! I would probably say Nirvana is my favorite. I really just love Kurt Cobain's voice. But here in Indiana it isn't overdone so that might affect it too.

@fraufarbissina my DS went to one 1 hour nap at 9 months and at about twenty months gave up naps almost always. He occasionally takes one but maybe once a week, unless it's in the car going somewhere in the afternoon.

@suchaglencoco when my DS was little it took us blasting the Beastie Boys and doing full on squats  while holding him to get him to sleep. It later was okay as long as it was just hip hop or rap. I once walked through Kroger with him in the baby carrier singing Gangsters Paradise because it was the only rap song I know all the words to!

How far:  10 weeks 6 days

How old are other kids: 2

Current concerns/questions: well right now I can't get my DS to stop chasing the dog and waving toys at him like he's going to hit him. The dog has never bit him, but doesn't really want to play with DS either. It's hard to blame the dog though when DS is so rough with them. The other dog doesn't mind it as much but she still doesn't want to be hit. I can't wait until I have a yard so the dogs can just go run outside and have more room away from DS.

Current joys/successes: DS has been sleeping so much better at night and staying in his own bed most nights. Sometimes he wakes up and cries out but he will go back down if I just rub his back a minute. And we have now gone two weeks without any nursing at all. He's even stopped asking for it.

GTKY:  I'm not really embarrassed by any of it. I like more rock music I guess but I also will listen to pop, country, classical, show tunes. I'm not picky!
@k5678 I listen to NPR a lot too!

Well I had a breakdown today over how to handle reading J's 75,000 books he has to have read to him every single day, and nursing a newborn so... It'll work out when this one is here, but damn I'm stressing over everything I can possibly stress over for right now.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
I've decided that if this one is a girl we are going to dress her up as a chicken for the first Halloween she is walking, and J will be Hei Hei from moana.

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?
I'm too old to not admit to listening to music... My list of music I find overrated and can't stand is quite expansive though

The girls are back to being awake until at least 11 pm if they sleep for even 10 minutes in the car, and nothing I do seems to keep them awake in the car.  So it's been a fun week......
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
They are rubbing and kissing my belly more often, and it's really cute.  Went to my midwives again yesterday and heard the heart beat.  Also got my prescription for my A/S, and I can schedule it for my birthday if I want  :)
GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?
I'm also in the "don't give a crap what other people think of my likes" boat.  I listen to pretty much everything, except country and I don't usually like most "new" music.

@suchaglencoco If I had a nickel for every time I listened to Shake It Off, I would be a millionaire.  My girls LOVED it, and it would calm them down every time.
To everyone else, I feel like there are too many to tag, this pregnancy has also been much more unpleasant and hard than my first.  Being pregnant with twins was definitely not easy, and was very uncomfortable, but MH told me last time that I was "never nicer than when I was pregnant."  This time we've been at each other's throats.  I finally lost it on him the other day and told him this pregnancy I have had less sleep, I'm more nauseated, our house is messier, I'm more irritable and cranky (because of the reasons listed above) and I'm home alone with two 3 year olds every night by myself.  And I feel like he hasn't been quite as forgiving this time around as far as wanting me to rest and take it easy, etc.  Taking care of kids when you're pregnant is no joke, and while I definitely wouldn't say I enjoyed my first pregnancy, this one is definitely more un-enjoyable than my first.

  • @arteduc8 @theletlers man what a wide range between the two of you.  I guess the answer is that it depends on the child... just like everything else that has to do with babies.

@sandbar517 my husband has been so much less sensitive to how tired I am this time around.  We are constantly arguing about who gets to take a nap or who gets to sleep in a little later.  I think it's pretty obvious that it should always be me but he's not getting that!  Aghhh!!!

question... I plan to ask my midwive but curious what everyone else does. When, if ever, does it become an issue to carry your toddler while pregnant?
Any baby wearing Mama's? Do you still wear while pregnant (assuming it doesn't constrict the bump?)

I have always heard conflicting things about weight limits of what we carry while pregnant and never thought much of it all... but now I have a 35 lbs toddler...

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
I told my niece and nephew this week, and they were so cute giving DS "advice." DS keeps saying he wants "a seester" ... we shall see!

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?

I love Ed Sherran which I don't usually hide, but I have seen several comments on here about people disliking his music, so... I'll throw that out there.

also, I like songs from musicals. Nerdy or not.
  • @holli0801 I have two almost 30 lb toddlers and have no plans on stopping holding/carrying them when necessary.  The rule of thumb I've heard most often is that if you do it before you're pregnant, there's not really a reason to quit when you are.  Unless it's physically hurting you, there shouldn't be a problem with it.

  • @sandbar517 yeah that makes sense!
  • @holli0801 I wear my daughter in a woven wrap still and it hasn't been a problem.  She's only 21 pounds though and I have no sign of a bump so it might get harder as we both get bigger but I want to keep wearing her as long as possible.
  • How far along: 13.5 weeks

Other kid: 2.5 year old son

Challenges: with my hyperemesis my mother in law has been taking care of DS most days and he went from being 90% potty trained/wearing underware to not at all potty trained/wearing pull-ups after spending 4 days at her house. She doesn’t try at all and then says “I don’t know why he won’t potty for me”. He goes potty for me, my husband, and my parents because we (shocker) put him on the potty. She just says “Logan do you need to go potty” and he says “no” and she doesn’t do anything else. He says “no” to EVERYTHING!!!  So we have been working on getting him back in potty mode but I’m somewhat useless until I start feeling better.

Joys/successes: my son is such a love (and a tornado of energy). It makes me so happy to see him giving out hugs and kisses.

GTYK: I like jam bands. Not ashamed but a lot of people are judgy about it so I don’t usually announce it. Also love classic rock and bluegrass.
  • @fraufarbissina I'm desperately telling this baby to just enjoy sleep. I'm not sure I can do it again! DS demanded to nurse about every 1.5 hours for seven months...I learned to function on 2-3 hours of sleep a day. But I could just chill and watch TV during the day when I was tired. Not an option this time when I'll have a three year old.
Also I wish I could take naps. I've never been able to very well. Even when DS was up all night I just cant fall asleep during the day. I guess I know from where he gets it!
  • @holli0801, unless there is an issue down the road, you should be ok to carry him throughout pregnancy.  My OB is all about "do what you could do before baby and you should be fine". He also told me about our species surviving before all these rules were in place and carrying older kids when running from a predator.
  • @suchaglencoco Oh my! I'm sure that was quite a story!

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now?

    Question/concern:
It may be a bit early to worry about this, but is anyone faced with the decision of having a repeat csection or a vbac? I had a csection with my first due to him being frank breach. My OB said that I'm a good candidate for a vbac unless I choose to elect a csection. I'm having so much anxiety over the vbac option because it's such an unknown at this point, and so much can occur that would result in a csection anyway...but I keep feeling like an elective surgery is just unnecessary and that if I chose that route, it would almost be a cop out? Not that it's an easier route, but I just don't know what to think. I'm so nervous about the fact that I have to make the decision this time around.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM:
My little guy smiles and says "baaaybaaay" whenever he sees one, so I am just imagining this carrying through until the baby comes and he will love having he/she around. Could totally not work this way.

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking?

  • @RachelT1234, we've already discussed with the ob if vbac is an option and he said I'm a great candidate.
I required a c section last time due to preeclampsia and twin A being in a terrible position where we worried if I started pushing, she'd be in immediate distress and would require a c section. I know it was the best decision, but a small part of me feels it was a cop out because I was given the option.
We all want the same thing- healthy momma and baby after the delivery. Whatever gets you there is the best decision. I think when the time comes, you'll know what your right choice is. Every baby and every pregnancy is different so this one could end up being in the perfect position to come out in 5 pushes.

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM+ or questions about things your children are going through now? Sleep. It’s always been sleep, it probably will always be sleep. I can handle the other challenges (mostly), but this is killing me. And DH is even taking the brunt of it. I don’t know what I’m going to do when it gets even worse in May. DLS is stupid. Colds are stupid. Pacifiers are stupid. And sensory kids that get lose their minds when it’s not even their birthday are stupid too. Well maybe not stupid but so hard. Feeling depressed and overwhelmed.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM: My older handled my youngers birthday party really well. At least while the guests were around.... Seriously though it’s gotta be so hard to be 3 and not be the center of attention and no get any gifts. I was proud of her maturity.

GTKY:  What song or artist do you like but rarely admit to liking? I haven’t purposely listened to a specific artist of my choosing in years, so I have no idea. I guess I turn on Enya pandora sometimes when I’m getting too worked up...
  • Oh and I had one kid who was solid on one afternoon nap before her first birthday and another who was still iffy at 16/17 months when she started a morning program that didn’t do nap, so we had to push it. Every kid is different but I think average is making the transition between12-18 months.

And agree - this has been my hardest pregnancy so far. And no, I’m not enjoying it. Why would anyone enjoy being sick? And what does that have to with wanting or loving the baby? That’s a ridiculous expectation that you have to enjoy the process just because the end result is desired.
  • @Pearlvirus I agree, I didn't really enjoy my first pregnancy nor have I enjoyed this one. But this ones harder because I have a kid to take care of even when I feel crappy.

@RachelT1234 I'm sorry I don't have experience but I hope you get to have the delivery that you want, either way. I agree, whatever's best for mom and baby is the right choice not a cop out at all!
