Heart rate and gender correlations?

Hi ladies! I was thinking I'd add in a little old wives superstition forum so we can compare results.
Apparently a lower heartbeat (110-140) is supposed to indicate a male and a high heartbeat (140 - 170) indicates female.
If you've found out the baby's gender already, has it followed this superstition??!
Interested to hear your responses.
Although I don't know my baby's gender yet, heartbeat has fluctuated from 151 - 155 bpm throughout this past week.

This would be a great question for our weekly questions thread. And if you haven't already, cruise on over to the intro thread and tell us about yourself.

This is not considered a superstition.
And for what it's worth, my b/g twins were always within 3 beats of each other in the 165 area.

Eta- I see you did intro. Welcome! I encourage you to peruse some of the weekly threads and get the general board flow. Lots of great info being shared and discussed.

It is not a superstition. This is *generally* true, *generally* being the keyword there. It is frequently accurate, but not always. My sister and her H were team green, but thought they were going to have a girl because of the heart rate. They had a handsome little man! My H and I were team green, so I specifically did not pay attention and try to remember the heart rate because we didn't want to know before the birth.

My first had consistent HR in the 140s. My second in the 160-170 range. Both boys.

Meh it was accurate with J, it was accurate for all three of my sister's kids, and for all six of my mom's kids. I'm not holding out on it being accurate for me, but if it is then cool. (It'll be a girl this time if that's the case, as the heart beat was in the high 160's)

At 9-10 weeks the heart rate it's supposed to be around the 170s for all babies and then slows down and steadies around 14 weeks so we are all too early even for these old wives tale stuff.

It was wrong for my first who is a boy and I had plenty of non stress tests and ultrasounds with data.

My first was in the 180s - Girl
My second was low 140s high 130s - Girl
My third (this baby) is 160s - Boy

So according to the heart rate predictions it has only been right with my first.

My last heartbeat check they said it was 172. I am having a boy so not correct for me.

My MIL and family had always heard reverse, which proved true for their family and my DD who was in the 140's This one is in the 170's, so maybe that along with all my salt cravings means this one's a boy? We'll find out eventually!!

I bought high heart rate was boy? My sons was always around 168.. haven’t paid attention this time and we’re team green! I love all the other little old wives tales though. team green, we should check in on those in a couple months as we start to grow and symptoms change!

It was correct with my first, as was the Chinese "gender" predictor ((I do know the correct term is sex, just quoting what it's called))...

we shall see with this one...

I think the wives-tales are kind of fun, but I wouldn't put too much weight on them for correctness.

@holli0801 I agree! I love that when you look up gender predictors they say they are 50% accurate haha! It’s just fun and games

Babie’s SEX not gender! Sex refers to the anatomy of the reproductive system and gender refers to personal identification based on ones own awareness. Sorry, but this is s pet peeve of mine. An argument could be made that the baby has no personal awareness yet but I still think that using the term “sex” is more appropriate. I’m a huge liberal hippy though.

@justsuzie THANK YOU!!!!! I cringe every time someone says they are having a "gender reveal." So many instances of gender/sex mix up on this board too...
