Re: GTKY-3 things 10/30 (just because we're a slow board :) )
1.) I sing opera, I used to be a soprano but my voice is super out of shape right now. My dream is to record a quartet version of Mozart's Requiem (at least la crimosa)
2.) I worked as a zoo keeper for 3 years and as a park naturalist and manager of a raptor (birds of prey) aviary for another 3 years. I planned to go into wildlife biology specializing in ornithology (study of birds) but working in the industry showed me that it was much better suited as a hobby while working a job that guaranteed enough money for a family. I do, however, plan on getting my falconry license once my kids are older
3.) I have a weird super anxiety about certain things. For example, in the grocery store I have to "front" anything that's out of place and I have to feel 'even' all the time. The only way I can explain that is, if I touch my left arm I have to touch my right arm in the same place. unless I have an itch I don't have to even that up lol. This was more in school but if someone writes on my paperwork (especially the fronts of notebooks or reports) it can send me into a full on panic attack. I'm very lucky that my husband is amazing and has helped me work through so much anxiety and these things are typically only a problem now if I'm exhausted or under extreme stress.

2. I really wanted to be a dietitian/nutritionist, but couldn't get passed all the science involved. Namely, anatomy and physiology. Which made me sad because it's something I still wish I could do.
3. I have really only had 2 long term boyfriends (including the one who became my husband).
2: I've danced in a ballet company with the guy from Shakira's obsession tango music video. His name is Rudy, and he's super sweet. In the same vein, I was a back up dancer for Lourdes Robles at one point (she's a Latin pop star, mostly known in the 90's for the Spanish version of Whitney Houston's I'm your Baby Tonight)
3: And I spoke with a British accent freshman sophomore and junior years of high school, because I wanted to. Drove my parents insane.
2) my greatest pleasure is sleeping. I love it and and need it or else my mind goes crazy. I went crazy 6 months after my son was born from lack of sleep, I don't know how I'm going to do it with a Newborn and a toddler. It worries me everyday.
3) I have terrible OCD . And I think that goes along with my chapstick addiction
2) I count everything. Particularly stairs. And if it's an odd number, I step on it with my left foot, even with my right. It started in middle school when I got curious about how many steps were in our house and my OCD never let me quit. I'm better about it now, but still count some things in my head, like how many times I chew before I swallow or how many seconds it takes to fill up the dogs' water bowl.
3) I suck at sports. My eye-hand coordination is awful and my head is a ball magnet. I tripped over my own feet playing kick ball. I got knocked in the head with a soccer ball while purposely trying to avoid it. While trying to hit a volleyball, I missed and it hit me in the face. I have even completely missed hitting the ball at putt putt! Probably just another reason why I love dance and horseback riding.

@sparklingdiamond I'm a veggie now. Did you quit because you miss meat? I sometimes miss it, but so far haven't been swayed back. Who knows with pregnancy cravings
@ivyvines6 your dance experience is so awesome. I bet your dance students think that's pretty cool! I would be in awe of my teacher with that background.
@allie89xoxo I'm super-worried about the lack-of-sleep thing with a newborn. I sleep so much and I am so cranky and irrational if I don't get sleep.
@zizzabell523 Dance and horseback riding takes so much coordination too! You must have just been unlucky with the balls. It seems like your hand-eye coordination is on point.
(1) I have travelled to 30 countries.
(2) I was the female winner of a 5K race in my town, which coincidentally benefited a chronic illness I have (ulcerative colitis).
(3) I pulled the sword from the stone when I was a kid at Disneyland or world and got to be "ruler of the realm" for the day (i.e., I got a medal and a piece of fancy parchment ha). I found it really exciting at the time and still have the medal.
Married: 8/22/15
BFP #1: 8/22/17 | DS: 4/20/18
BFP #2: 7/14/19 | EDD: 3/18/20
1.) I voluntarily shaved my head and donated all 20 inches of my hair over a year ago in a St. Baldrick's Shavathon. My dad called me Sinead O'Conner for a year.
2.) I'm not fluent, but I'd say intermediate with sign language
3.) I've run one full marathon and walked two more (they were meant to be walked!) as well as seven half marathons! I'd really like to run another full. I'm hoping after this baby comes next summer I can get into a better routine and start training.
2. I've been bitten by a horse in the back of my neck.
3. I'm not proud of this, but I really hate reading. I'm so slow at it and have a hard time staying focused on what I'm reading. I can't remember the last time I finished a book.
2) I joined swim team in high school so I wouldn't have to run, and as an adult, have taken up running as a hobby and have completed a number of 5 and 10Ks, over 20 half marathons, and 2 full marathons.
3) I hate any and all attention on me. I was a nervous wreck at my showers and my wedding because of being the center of attention. I refuse to sing karaoke. It takes everything I have to run campfires at the summer camp I run. I wish it didn't bother me so much because I really enjoy theater and singing and was pretty good at it, but too nervous to ever really make anything happen.
@sparklingdiamond same! I had two shorter-term boyfriends in high school, dated the third one for almost two years, and then started dating DH freshman year of college.
@silverhope Congrats on your race win! DH pulled the sword from the stone at Disneyland when he was a kid. MIL says DH and BIL always got picked for stuff like that growing up, especially anything that required audience participation.
@theletlers I did a full when DS was 10 months old and I should have waited longer. I would love to do another full one day, but I am going to wait until my kids are much older. The training schedule, along with pumping/breastfeeding/sleep deprivation/being a working mom about did me in. I basically only trained by doing long runs and the race day had record heat and I was a hot mess.
@silverhope @sparklingdiamond I've been vegetarian 3 different times in my life. Each time ended because I saw some meat that I wanted to eat and just went for it. First it was chicken wings, then a meatball, then Easter ham.
@zizzabell523 I have a similar thing where I tap my fingers along to song lyrics and have to keep singing if I don't end on my thumb or pinky
@allie89xoxo I swear they put something in chapstick to makes me reapply it 100 times a day.
@ivyvines6 what is the CAP cadet program?
@ladystinson a falconry license? that's the coolest thing ever!!
Edit to add
@mileswithmyles you run a summer camp? I've always said that's my dream job
1) I played a piano duet at my school's prize giving! I'm extremely shy about being in the limelight so I can't believe I did this. I lose my voice and go red when I have to do public speaking.
2) I went into foster care at 14 years old.
3) My dh is 24 years older than me! He's the kindest man I've ever known and we are so happy together, I can't imagine being with anyone else.
2) I pick on my husband for taking over 3 years to really go on a date with me. The truth is, had we dated back then, I don't know if we'd have stayed together. Neither of us were in the right head space to find the love of our lives and it would have been tragic. And I'm his first actual gf. I think his mom almost fainted when I went to meet her. He dated, sort of, but never really clicked with anyone to move from a couple of dates. I, on the other hand, was always in a relationship. My mom legit told me to stop making my bedroom door a revolving one.
A little bit of opposites attract.
3) I'm awesome at Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud, but could never go on tv because I'm way too competitive when things are at stake. We host game nights in our home and I'm great with losing, but money isn't involved.
I'm also so in awe of you running ladies. I started up running a few years ago but it's become impossible finding the time when running a practice 6 days a week. 5K's are still great, at least you're more physically active than most people!
And that's cool that you've flown a plane too!! And woohoo for ditching it for love ❤️ Lol.
@suchaglencoco so glad you and dh connected at the right time
@suchaglencoco DH and I are very different as well. We balance each other out well.
1. H and I started dating freshman year of college at a summer job but went to different schools. We were together 6 years before we got married (And even then we were only married at 25!) and have been together for almost 13 years.
2. I have a soft spot for animals. I was taking my dachshund on a walk years ago after it rained and found an animal face down in a puddle. I put a stick next to it to turn it over and it latched on upside down. It was a bat. It stayed on and I was able to get it to a tree in the woods.
3. I am the handy one in my house. I fix stuff around the house. I have replaced the thermostat, put all our furniture together, mounted all of our TVs, etc. My dad is a mechanic and I grew up fixing things and doing stuff around the house which is very different from my H.
1) My husband and I went scuba diving during our honeymoon. I'm certified to go 60 feet. We were with a guide in Jamaica who took us through a tunnel. When we came out I was 90 feet down! When I looked down, I couldn't see the ocean floor and the surface was really far! Nothing puts things in perspective more than feeling tiny in ocean! It was terrifying and amazing at the same time!
2) The older I get the more convinced I am that I have some form of social anxiety. I get really nervous meeting new people or being in large groups of people I don't know. My best friend is having a baby shower in a few weeks and I'm super nervous about it. I'm relieved that DS will be there...he's 2.5.
3) I can't think of a third thing...
@fraufarbissina I've learned it due to my job with individuals with disabilities. Some are deaf, some are just nonverbal and some just prefer it to actually talking. I try and teach my son too!
@suchaglencoco I only have the one tattoo. I oddly enough got it about a month before getting pregnant so will have to wait awhile before getting more!
@mileswithmyles @ivyvines6 I agree having kids has definitely affected running. Remember before kids and pregnancy when you could just wake up in the morning and run 5 miles before work
@JNCPro3130 I get really nervous in large groups/parties, too. I like "my people."
1. I love gardening and plants. I was in Horticulture in high school and did competitions through FFA. I won state as a junior and went to Nationals and placed 25th. I almost decided to go into landscape architecture instead of Art Ed and still wonder at times what it would be like to have pursued that instead. I have used my Horticulture experience in my real life. I designed and made all the floral centerpieces for my wedding. I also designed and planted our entire landscape design at our new house. I'm super proud of it.
2. I do photography on the side and sell some of my work on an Etsy shop. I do mostly nature and travel photography.
3. I love sports and competition. I was a 12 season athlete in high school (varsity for all but one season, bball freshman year). I did cross country, basketball, and track. I wish I could still run, but I have bad IT band syndrome and knee issues now. I also showed horses since I was 8 through college. My family owned 3 horses that we trained, rode and showed. Those summer days were some of my fondest childhood memories.
2. I can read 1,008 words per minute- I can read straight down by line. It's really convenient for teaching 5th grade reading, because I need to stay caught up on all the books they're reading (an for make sure they actually read it!)
3. I can write in mirror writing and upside down (so it appears to the person across from me right side up, if that makes sense). My seventh grade teacher told us how Leonardo DiVinchi wrote all his notes in mirror writing so I did all my notes like that for awhile.
2) I was a complete punk in my late teens (piercings, wild clothes, funky hair) but you'd never know it looking at me now.
3) most people refuse to play Scrabble or Words with Friends with me after we've played a few games together. Something about them not being able to come close to beating me. Idk it's hard to hear them over all the winning lol jk ... Sort of
@arteduc8 impressive!! I'm sure your landscape is beautiful!!
@mileswithmyles the first time we got a flat my husband stood and watched me change the tire on the side of the interstate. He had no idea what to do! Cars kept honking as the drove past us!

@JNCPro3130 I think scuba diving is so cool. I am such a pansy though. I don't think I will ever be able to go without having a panic attack. Same reason I doubt I will ever skydive.
@mileswithmyles I can't change a tire either
@arteduc8 My dream is to open an Etsy shop and sell art I make. That's so cool you sell your photographs online. Also, I have IT band issues too

1. I LOVE road tripping and stopping for cheesy roadside attractions. World's Largest [fill in the blank], or off the wall things like Museum of the Weird, National Museum of Funeral History, Texas Prison Museum, International House of Vinegar. That kind of stuff. I got the idea after watching House of a 1000 Corpses, and the attractions usually end up being pretty interesting/fun.
2. I have a list of movies that if I see them on TV I will drop what I'm doing to sit and watch them, no matter how many times I've seen them. A Few Good Men, Overboard, The Princess Diaries, Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, and probably a few others I'm forgetting.
3. I went streaking in a stranger's back yard. My friends and I did a video scavenger hunt, and yes-I was drunk. It was worth a ton of points, so a few other people on my team and I found a very quiet, secluded back yard, stripped down and ran around the yard for a minute or two while one of the other guys taped us. No idea if they were awake/asleep, saw us, etc. but it was fun and I *think* we were the only team that actually did it.

1. Im very artistic and have done murals for churches and I do craft shows and I do canvas painting classes/parties on the side!!
2. I'm a total nerd and love playing video games, especially RPG games, like Fallout and Skyrim. I'm super bummed that I haven't been able to play anything in a while due to you know, being a mommy and stuff, but it's worth it!
3. I work for our church as the treasurer doing all of the financials. I'm also the worship pastor's assistant and I sing and coordinate the other singers. And I'm also the wife of a youth pastor so I'm highly involved in that ministry.

1 - My favorite band since I was 10 years old is Hanson (as in “MMMBop”). I’ve seen them in concert I think 8 times? And met them a few times. They just released a new Christmas album and I listened to it the other day on repeat when I was having a rough day and it cheered me up
2 - Speaking of Christmas, I am obsessed with the holiday season. Christmas music, trees, cookies, shopping, movies, decorations...it’s such a magical time of year. My husband is on board with my crazy level of decorating that I inherited from my grandma.
3 - I used to work at an event venue full time and my husband worked there part time during events. One day I saw him and decided he was cute and I wanted to talk to him. I then didn’t see him for months but looked for him at every event. When I finally found him I went up with a plan of something work-related I could say as an excuse to talk to him and we ended up talking for 2 hours.
@curleemama32 that's awesome you're so artistic and creative. I'm sure it comes in handy with the kids at your church!
@MrT723 I can tell that song will be in my head all day!!
