Okay, I have a doozy today. And this may be the WORST place to share this opinion, but it's called an "Unpopular Opinion" for a reason. I HATE bare-belly maternity photos. I think that some are tastefully done, but most of the time, I think they're super cheesy and over-the-top. ESPECIALLY when the husband is in the photo and like "cupping" the belly. I don't find them sweet. I find them comical. Don't know why, but they make me laugh. DH and I send each other screen shots of the most cringe-worthy maternity shoots, and jokingly say things like, "we totally have to re-create this." Sorry to you ladies who have done this/plan to this. If that's your thing, do it! It just doesn't happen to be mine...
@cyanope I don't like them either! Now, I think that maternity boudoir can be stunning and gorgeous and a bare bump is totally appropriate in that case. But bare belly shots while the rest of you is in regular clothing? Not so much.
@caeilievalor I'll take it a step further and say I don't like bump pictures at all...for me personally. It's just super awkward and I hate it. I've taken 2 and hate them both but know I have to take them. It's like prom pictures...they're so posed and blah I can't.
Also super UO, I hate the month stickers for babies and the posts that go with it. Ex: Baby is 1 month old toady and loves sleeping and eating. Can't handle it.
@cyanope with you on that one. If other people want to do it, go for it! It's definitely NMS though.
We did CIO as a last resort with DD and it worked, so I'm not against using it for this guy if he's as bad as she was.
So I love Disney, and I loved Moana for a time. But now I am SO SICK of it. It's DD's favorite movie/soundtrack all of a sudden. We listen to Disney playlists pretty often during the day, and when a Moana song comes on, she gets so excited, and then super angry when it's over so we end up listening to the same 5 songs on repeat for the rest of the day until I can distract her with something else. I can't handle it anymore.
Haha, that was me about three months ago, @schaze. DD wanted Moana (or "Momo" as she called it) all day every day. Thankfully, she's out of that phase. BUT, after that phase, she wanted "Little Baby Bum" (nursery rhymes on Netflix) ALL.THE.TIME. I preferred the Moana stage to that one. In the last month, we've moved on to Mary Poppins. I don't mind this phase. And she's actually being Mary Poppins for Halloween this year, so the obsession is STRONG!
I’m not a fan of the bare belly for normal maternity photos either. The “top of the mountain with your belly showing and your dress billowing behind you”... just not my style.
I think there should be legal reprucusions for abandoning your animal. Like, jail time reprucusions. You literally have no idea what’s going to happen to it. If it’s going to be found, or if strangers will feed it. You just sentenced that animal that you promised to take care of to a possible in-humane death. (It’s different if it’s a disaster and you have no time). Moving and leaving your animal behind or setting it free to roam outside, you deserve to be behind bars.
I hate when foods made of Turkey (e.g. Turkey burgers, Turkey bacon) taste like the regular version (hamburgers, bacon, etc). If I wanted to eat something that tastes like bacon, I'll eat bacon. I'm eating the turkey version because I prefer the taste of Turkey.
Oh, I agree. I hate the belly bump photos. Maybe because it's my first pregnancy and my first experience with those photos was in the first trimester. I didn't even have a bump, but my sister wanted my husband and I to lovingly cradle my stomach like there was one. It came out with us just staring at my stomach, all concerned like there was an alien about to pop out.
@gilsam1 We don't eat pork in our house so I only eat turkey meat for like... copy cats. Like, Turkey hot dogs or turkey sausage. I guess it's because the texture is similar to chicken and pork things and I hate the texture of beef hot dogs.
I guess it's not much of a UO but I hate summer time. I mean, the swimming is nice but I hate everything else. I recently moved to Texas and it's October and still like 80 degrees every day. I want it to be cloudy and cold! It just annoys me so much that I live on the sun for approximately 363 days a year and it might get chilly for two days of the year.
@conineml I shamelessly did monthly pictures of DS. I didn’t use the stickers though, but I love to look back and see the milestones that DS was hitting.
@chellieblueray add me to the hating summer club. I always tell people that I can always put on another sweater, but I can’t peel off my skin.
I agree with the bare belly photos when you are dressed. It's just weird to me.
I'm going to try the monthly photos for myself to be able to look back on.
@gilsam1, I'm the opposite. I don't like dark chocolate, milk chocolate all the way. Preferably with caramel. I'm not too much of a chocolate person but I love milk chocolate with caramel.
My UO is that I thought Fifty Shades of Grey was a horrible book. I tried a sample on my Kindle since it was so popular and I couldn't even finish reading the sample. The writing is terrible and the characters were stupid. I had no interest. I've never watched the movie either.
@kelk5 I completely agree. Couldn’t read the books, too juvenile. However, I caught the movies on E! earlier this year and liked them. Guilty pleasure. Jamie Dornan is a handsome dude.
@kelk5 The movies are even worse. The first movie was just kinda meh, but the second one was so bad i could barely finish it. The acting, writing, everything was horrible. I didn't think the books were bad, they were a lot like Twilight, which isn't great but not too bad. But then again, i also read trashy romance novels, so i can get into some bad writing haha
I'm the opposite of most, I like bare belly pictures toward the end of pregnancy. I was able to compare and tell the week I actually dropped. I do not like bare belly professional photos, those are strange to me.
@conineml I loved the stickers! My Mom scrapbooked DDs first year and they helped mark time. It's crazy how fast they grow and you can forget little things they capture!
My UO is super unpopular but I kinda prefer TB > FB (our group). I can't remember who most of the people are (username/real name) and I'm not used to the format. Granted, I haven't been on FB for years so I'm sure that's playing a huge part.
@GraceUponGrace09 I don't (yet) know who everyone is yet either. But, in a few months, we'll know each other as who we really are and it will be awesome
@chellieblueray I was 13 weeks and not showing yet at my wedding, but our photographer made me do a belly photo with my bridesmaid who was 7 1/2 million months pregnant (she had her baby in August and my wedding was in July!) It's soooooo awkward. It's like, her and me looking at.... her pregnancy belly and my little fat roll. Not one to frame.
@GraceUponGrace09 that's why I like when we post pics of ourselves/kids because then I'm like "YES!!!! I know her!!!" I will say, that my last bmb fb group, I don't even know any of their bump names at all. It'll all mesh together once we start talking more too.
I hate the sticker shots, but I do like the monthly photos, even though I HATED keeping up with it. I found it really fun to look back every 3 months, then year, to see how DS had grown into a person.
I also love monthly baby photos! I didn't do the stickers, but I did do a photo every month and I LOVE looking at them. I even did a whole display wall at DD's 1st birthday with her monthly pictures, and they were a hit! I also struggle with FB, @GraceUponGrace09. I like seeing everyone "in real life," but I'm having a hard time connecting who is who on there! I kind of wish everyone would sign with their TB name for the first few months (just until I get everyone sorted out) because I can't keep looking back at the spreadsheet!
Also not opposed to signing with my bump name too, but I think supercoolstephy and stephanie might be a bit obvious. Sidenote... I hate people calling me Stephy. haha I'm so weird.
It's taking me a while to figure out who is who, but I'm sure I'll get there. I should probably sign my bump name or make my profile pictures match or something.
cyanope said: *snip* I kind of wish everyone would sign with their TB name for the first few months (just until I get everyone sorted out) because I can't keep looking back at the spreadsheet!
THIS!! I know you @cyanope and those with part of their name in it like @missblaze and @supercoolstephy but I'd still love it if we signed our TB name for a while!
I'll make sure to start signing with my TB name, @missblaze, @supercoolstephy, @auntieraindrop, and @GraceUponGrace09! I don't know if others will follow suit, but hey...if it helps other people know who I am, then I'm all about it.
@chellieblueray. I lived in Dallas for 16 years and couldn't stand the constant heat and sun! I'm a Midwest girl, I need my seasons and LOVE a chilly, cloudy day! Especially in the fall.
@tayloredkitty Yes! I'm from Missouri and I moved to Houston about a year ago. It's still a culture shock. I'm excited to go back to Missouri and see family but I think I might cry more to leave the weather behind again! Give me winter!
@chellieblueray I grew up in Maine and went to grad school in Missouri and... that's literally how I felt in your neighborhood! xD It was SO HOT there most of the year. Like three weeks in late December/early January were brutally cold with no snow to soften it. And I didn't dare to drive, there was a like six car pileup in my apartment complex after a tiny amount of ice.

@supercoolstephy @caeilievalor I'm undecided on that one. It would be my last resort, but I wouldn't rule it out.
Edited because my UO was boring and candy-related.

Also not a fan of bare belly shots. And mine has stretch marks from last pregnancy so it wouldn't look cute anyway!
I hate mayo. That's all I can think of for now
