  • @bainidhedub good idea. I should check into that.

  • Thanks for all the input!  Is it sad that I didn’t even think about a TV being in my room?  I also didn’t think about me being annoyed and wanting things to be silent...LOL.  This is going to be a trip!

@maueraa07 the women in my birthing class suggested that we try lavender oil.  She did say that if you do want to try it make sure the diffuser is battery operated because they don’t want you plugging a lot of things in your room.  I have found a few on amazon.

@bainidhedub you bring up an great point.  We tour our hospital this weekend and I will ask the question!

@auntieraindrop what a great idea for DH.  We may have to explore that.  Thanks!
  • Another thing that was helpful. I bought a REALLY long cell phone charger cord for my phone.

  • @burnsmommy27 YOU are my HERO! I did not know Kohls carried Skip Hop (MY FAVORITE brand). We have one shoulder diaper bag for DD and I’ve been looking around for a backpack and haven’t found one I like… but I looked yours up on Kohl’s and love it (though quilted not faux leather). And it’s Kohls so I get % off and Kohl’s cash! YAY! THANK YOU!

@ Everyone… UGH I do not want to think about sterilizing/bottles/nipples/pump parts. THE WORST. Baby on the boob=best. DREADING pumping/storing/bringing milk to day care. No.

@bbeaman  I would have killed anyone who put on music during contractions/labor and I was going at it for 37 hours. I did, however, “enjoy” an NFL game (Redskins-Giants… I feel like I’ll never forget that). I REALLY think every woman is different though, and you don’t know what you’ll want until you are there… so it might not hurt to bring things! I was in the middle of this 500 page + novel (Purity) and brought it with me :D Please lol at me every STM. I seriously thought, oh, I'll want to curl up and read! That's a big no. But NBD, we just took it home... you can keep a ton of crap in your car, so it doesn't hurt to have a bunch of possible distractions.

  • @EmilyLove25 I would lol at you but it makes me lol at me too because I brought crosswords and sodokus! I don't know what I was thinking!?!?Worked out for DH though, he was real bored and I made him stay silent and not speak to me the whole time  :D
  • Anyone have experience with their baby flipping from breech? I know the baby still has plenty of time to flip, but Dr. Google also has me starting to freak out because he is breech and "sunny side up." Has anyone done the recommendations by spinning babies and had success? Or do you have any other methods you used to get baby to fip head down and face the right way?
  • @lmmjd, this LO is in the same position. I've spent a lot of time reading, but not a whole lot of acting.

  • I have 2 other boys and finally just realizing, we are going to have a baby soon! And gosh, I have a lot of stuff I need to buy. So much from the boys are expired now or just really old. Right now, trying to figure out a new carseat/stroller, mattress, bottles, and somewhere to sleep. Both boys slept overnight in the Rock n Play...apparently it's a SIDs risk. Oye! Gotta get shopping and researching.
  • @lmmjd no direct personal experience, but I'd also look into a chiropractor skilled with the webster technique, they can definitely help with positioning.

  • @KatieEl I just started going to one last week because of my sciatic pain. I need to ask her if she is trained in that technique and if not start looking around. I did see a mention of that technique on the spinning babies website!
  • @EmilyLove25 add me to the club of people who brought a book to her birth! Totally thought i would want it. Nope! I did have a playlist going though. The night nurses loved my room because we were listening to music and chatting after they put my Foley bulb in. They also had a good laugh when they had to give me Benadryl and I basically passed out sitting on the medicine ball with my arms draped over the bed.
  • @lmmjd and @BelhurstBride when were you notified of baby’s positioning? My OB has never mentioned it, not even with DS. Maybe it’s because baby is in they right position so there is nothing to say? Or did they mention it at an ultrasound?
  • @lmmjd DS flipped so many times during my pregnancy. He was breach for about 3 weeks, until the week before I was induced. This little babe has been breach for the past 3 ultrasounds. I'm a repeat c-section so I'm not worried about flipping her. But I think you've got time to have your babe switch positions, and even change back.

  • @jakobaby no one told me, but it's on my ultrasound reports. I did ask at my anatomy scan because I was curious. So I guess they did tell me but only because I asked.

  • @jakobaby I was told at an ultrasound. I do remember with DD they told me at some point that she was head down, but I don’t remember exactly when. From what I’ve read, OBs will start discussing it more if the baby hasn’t flipped by 32-34 weeks depending on the provider.

Also, after reading up on everything, you can often figure it out depending on where you feel LO. I ONLY feel him near my left hip, nothing near the top, but assumed it was because I have an anterior placenta.
  • @lmmjd I also never feel anything near the top and have an anterior placenta... and a breech baby. Come on kid. haha

  • @supercoolstephy It did say I have more time for him to flip on his own. And, right?! I’d love to have a little more reassurance more often! Haha.
  • @lmmjd cool.

  • @LHC2011 I have a rock n play from my previous babies and they slept well in it but I got freaked recently about an article declaring it unsafe for overnight sleeping so I ordered the Graco Travel Lite Crib for our room in place of a bassinet. It just arrived today so I have no reviews of it. I just know I needed something for him to safely sleep in overnight since my 2yo is still in the crib and I'm not rushing to get her out of it. I also bought a Snuza breathing monitor that clips on the diaper. I've always had major anxiety about the babies safe sleeping. Like multiple times a night waking bc I thought our baby was lost in the bed with us. Hopefully these purchases help, along with never letting my baby in the bed with us, I just can't handle it.
  • DS was never even in our room, let alone in our bed, but I still woke up from dreams freaked out that I was using the baby as a pillow and squashing him.

@jakobaby, it was never mentioned to me with either of my girls, either. I assume because they were head down. This time it was mentioned to me at my last couple of u/s. (I had complications in the beginning and have had a lot.)

It's also glaringly obvious. I feel all strong movements only at my public bone. With my girls I felt strong movements at my ribs.

  • Well my baby is clearly still feet down.  :D

    Not worried, he has time.
  • I was told around 30 weeks that DD was transverse and she stayed that way until 35ish weeks. This LO is too (as of my last visit) but I only know because I asked. Still plenty of time for them to move at this point!

  • Glad I could help @EmilyLove25 I hope you love the bag like we do.

@maueraa07 I was on bedrest last time and my hospital room smelled like pee ( I had to do a 24 hour urine and pee was all I could smell) so DH lovingly bought me a wall flower from Bath and Body works in a nearby smell. I did switch it over to my delivery room but honestly I can't even remember if I smelled it during labor

I was also on the please STFU train during labor. Once I got an epidural I relaxed and DH and I watch some TV. If I remember correctly @supercoolstephy it was the ID  channel too
  • @burnsmommy27 @supercoolstephy
LOL. I would have loved if my ex had been watching ID because it is my favorite channel. I remember very specifically that he was watching an animal planet show where the snake was shedding its skin... I might have freaked out a little more than necessary, but come on dude.
  • @burnsmommy27 the bag came in the mail yesterday, and I like it even more than I thought I would! I'm not letting myself fully use it until this LO comes  Thank you again!

  • I have a random question. With DD I was induced and when my water broke it made this loud sound and felt like it exploded from all the pressure. It didn't feel great.

Question: when your water broke did it hurt at all?

  • @burnsmommy27 mine didn't hurt at all. There was no audible pop, but I kind of felt a small twitch and then suddenly the fluid was gushing out hah. I wasn't having contractions at that point and they didn't start for about 30 minutes after that.

  • With my first my water broke during a contraction. I felt a pop then a big gush and I ran to the bathroom. The contraction was a bit uncomfortable but the sensation of my water breaking did not hurt. The second baby my water stayed in tact until I was probably dilated to a 7 or so but the baby was having decels so my midwife broke my water to place a monitor. That didn't hurt either, but the following contractions were pretty gnarly though.
  • @burnsmommy27 my water broke during transition and was one of the hardest contractions I had. The water breaking itself did not hurt but the contraction definitely did.
  • @burnsmommy27 my water broke at home with both of my previous pregnancies.  Both times, this was the onset of labor. Neither time was at all painful.  The "pop" for me was more of a water balloon popping sensation, than an audible sound. The first time that was followed by an immediate gush.  The second time was a slow trickle, followed a little later by a smaller gush.

  • My delivering doc broke my water for me so this is super helpful to read!
  • My OB broke my water pre-epidural and whatever she used to jab me was painful because she had to do it a few times. Then it just kinda trickled out here and there and was kinda slimy. I felt pretty gross after that because I was trying to sit on an exercise ball and kept leaking fluids everywhere- I was just annoyed by it and wanted to feel clean
  • Thanks for all the insight ladies. It's nice to hear the wide range of experiences on how it can break. I'm hoping mine won't explode this time, lol
  • Sorry for the change of subject, I've been mad at TB because the app hasn't let me post in nearly 2 weeks, this morning I woke up NEEDING to ask a question so I've spent the last hour redownloading the app and updating my phone just to talk to y'all!

Dh had had some kind of sickness since Friday, and inevitably, I woke up today with a very sore throat and coughing...what over the counter meds would you recommend. Dayquil/Nyquil worked wonders for DH but I'm sure that's off limits...
