Hi everyone,
I am starting to compile a list of addresses so that I can get things sort of rolling before LO arrives and we send out birth announcements. How many of you are planning on sending these out? Are you planning on using something like Shutterfly? I'm trying to find more options to get the cost down. I think we're going to use our wedding guest list (only 3 years ago) as a starting point and we are looking at about 100 cards. Am I crazy to want to send these out? Also, I dont want to go crazy on price... Thoughts everyone?
Re: Mailing Birth Announcements
I was planning on doing some online thing like Shutterfly, but I haven't actually looked into it. For our save the dates and wedding invitations, DH just designed them and then we ordered them from Staples which was cheaper than using a template from elsewhere, so maybe we'll do something like that again.

I may even order birth announcements to then include in my Christmas cards! Since I'm pretty obsessive about those too... my collection from last year... and I may have purchased 3 or 4 more boxes since

My Chart
Like most of you, I'll likely also be adding a picture of the new baby to my Christmas cards and letting that serve as the "announcement". (And let's be honest, my mother is basically the town crier and everyone will know within hours of the birth anyways.) I use Cardstore.com to make customized Christmas cards every year and they stamp and mail the cards for me, so I don't have to do much work at all. They tend to run decent promos around early December and I don't typically send more than 50 cards, so it doesn't break the bank. And honestly, if I'm not in the mood to send anything this year, I'm not going to beat myself up.

We've done both Shutterfly and Vistaprint in the past and I think Shutterfly quality is 100x better, so we will likely go with them again. We did for DS and I really liked how they turned out, and we just used them as a double for Thank You cards for people who just sent random gifts that didn't arrive by the time my shower thank yous went out.

probably be a New Years card, though. Thatll
guve us time to get the newborn photos back and I can slowly address envelopes or something. I’ll just be using my shower addresses, plus a few
more peeps. I love sending out cards, so I’m excited to do it!

I always do Christmas cards, but I'm going to skip this year and do combined New Years/Birth Announcement cards. I'll get them out sometime in January and consider that a win.
