6.5 month old makes weird hand/wrist movements

I was just curious if anyone else has a little love bug that does this?

My son, Jude, makes these erratic hand and wrist movements (almost like he's revving a motorcycle or conducting an orchestra!) at random times. He doesn't do this when he is playing or anything. He is the happiest, most smiley little boy ever and socially he smiles at everyone, babbles, laughs etc. Any one else experience this? At his 6 month appoinment the doctor said it was normal and he's just learning his hands and movements, but I am still a little concern with all this autism talk in the world today.

Any insight or experience would help ease my mind

Totally normal, E does it all the time!  Looks like just he's conducting an orchestra.  He's 8.5mo and still doing it, so not sure when they outgrow it, but when he started was when he got really good at picking things up and moving things around in his hand, so I assumed it was part of his 'hand awareness'.  Don't freak!

totally normal!  DS does a hand holding movement too!  I laugh, it almost looks like he is worried and fidgiting.

I agree don't worry- totally normal. Jakey has been doing it for months now. rolling, bending, and twisting his wrists etc.with nothing in his hands but have noticed he especially does it now when holding things like his bottle- a rattle-a book etc...

ALL the time....especially when she's happy. I love it! Totally normal!

DS does this almost constantly, and with his ankles/feet, too!  It's pretty funny looking... especially when he's in his high chair and his little feet and hands are going NON STOP!  Don't worry
