@bwow615 I was in the middle of starting this thread, but I'm really glad you got there first! Thanks!

How far along are you? What size is baby this week?
12w6d...tomorrow baby will be the size of a lemon

    What symptoms are you having?
No new symptoms, but some seem to be subsiding! Yesterday I didn't have a headache for an entire day, and I had enough energy to wash AND fold my laundry AND put other clothes into storage that won't fit me until after this baby comes out. Still took a nap, but I can't guarantee that was pregnancy related. :)

    Rants/Raves:
We announced on social media this past weekend, so I feel obligated to tell my super weird/awkward/quite old boss ASAP before anyone else mentions it, but he literally almost never shows up to work...for no reason. It's not like he's super busy and has meetings all day. He comes in around 2pm and then falls asleep at his desk until 4pm most days. Other days he's inexplicably here at 6am. So, I already don't want to have this conversation and now I don't even know when he'll finally show up today. I'm the only woman in the office, and the youngest person, even at 33, and everyone gets SO WEIRD when they find out (I've been pregnant before, just haven't made it past 2nd trimester).

    Any questions this week?
FTM and never even babysat or anything...umm how do you figure out what you're supposed to do for babies at different milestones...like in terms of sleeping, feeding, physical development, playtime, etc.? Is that something you get a book for? Or do you just figure it out as you go along? Lol.

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it?
First semi-legit job I had was as a student assistant in the music department in college. Can't say I learned many deep lessons from it, but I did gain most of my secretarial skills there! I'm not a secretary...but I also don't have one...so they come in handy. Haha.

  • This cuts out a lot of the 'which week am I?' confusion. Thanks!

How far along are you? What size is baby this week? Counting as 12w 2d, a plum apparently. That's pretty big already. It still amazes me how fast these little beans grow

What symptoms are you having? Fatigue still, followed up by insomnia after I get my 9 pm couch nap. I'm also getting hungry, but full easily again.

Rants/Raves: Rave - was finally able to go to the grocery store with DH this weekend, he's been going alone recently with how much extra work I've been doing. That meant I got to grab ingredients to make New York cheesecake and Halloween candy. Rant - already had to justify output from our department this morning. It's going to be a long week

Any questions this week? Alright, this is going to be TMI and a long shot but... for those of you dealing with constipation, have you found something like the squatty potty to be helpful? I guess I could easily just get a box and see without having to buy the stool. Thoughts I have while I sit in the bathroom for way too long

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it? I worked my first job for 7 long years. I started at Target when I was a sophomore in high school and only left after I graduated college and got a job in my field. Ish. I learned that delivering bad news is always easier when you act sincere, even when you don't care. And being the first to offer a smile to someone makes them like you more.

@abhphilly My pediatrician was great about helping me keep up with expected milestones. She's the one who taught me what tummy time even was, I was so confused. I also found that my Bump ladies were a huge help. A lot of them were STM+ so they could answer questions, and having babies almost the exact same age helped let everyone know what an average was. We gave each other encouragement and tips if a mom was concerned that her baby was falling behind.

Edit for clarity. Words are hard on Monday

  • @artlea2013 We don't have the "official" squatty potty, but we do have a stool from IKEA for that purpose...and unfortunately I can't say I've noticed it helping. Our toilet is kind of tall though, so maybe I'm not getting the full squat experience.

  • @abhphilly i second learning from a lot of the bump moms going through the stages with your babies all the same age.  I was a FTM last time around and learned so much! You will also learn to start trusting your natural "mom" instincts too.
  • @abhphilly the governing bodies of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy (for example: Asha.org) will have information about specific milestones and things you can do to encourage growth and development, too.
  • This is a weekly check in for people who due the First Week of May 4/29-5/5

How far along are you? What size is baby this week? 13 weeks today! Clownfish!

What symptoms are you having? HG and all the wonderful things that encompasses, constipation, bloat

Rants/Raves: rants: tired of feeling like crap, raves: got a Doppler from a friend and I've enjoyed just checking in on our little bean

    Any questions this week? Nah

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it? First job was as a lifeguard and swim instructor- learned a ton about first aid, water safety, etc.

  • How far along are you? What size is baby this week? 13 weeks. size of a "hot jalapeno"

What symptoms are you having? I'm feeling pretty good. I've been taking it easy so no more lower back pain. I still get bizarre dreams occasionally and I'm getting up to pee a lot in the middle of the night.

Rants/Raves: We announced on social media on Friday, so it feels good not to have this secret anymore.

    Any questions this week?

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it? My first job was at a restaurant, that was hard work.  Then I worked in retail throughout high school. I learned a lot about dealing with customers/people.
  • How far along are you? What size is baby this week? 13 weeks today.  Baby is the size of a lemon.

What symptoms are you having? I thought maybe I would start to turn a corner, but nope.  Still vomiting daily, nauseous, and exhausted.  I look pregnant now and even though I've only gained two pounds, my bump is definitely making its presence known.

Rants/Raves: Rant- I am just so tired of feeling sick and tired.  This week is a long week for me and I have two extra presentations that are making two days this week 12 hour days.  I am tired just thinking about it.  Rave- Getting a mani/pedi today and heading to the World Series Game on Wednesday!

Any questions this week? I asked it in Weekly Questions, but I am looking for a good name book, so does anyone have a recommendation?

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it? I was a lifeguard at a water park.  I learned "If you're early, you're on time, if you're on time, you're late, if you're late, you're fired."  I also learned a lot about labor laws because they liked to violate them.

@abhphilly I bought a week by week book that helped me in the beginning.  I also used Google (which can be good and bad) and relied a lot on my BMB.  Mostly, you just figure it out.

@artlea2013 I find I have an easier time in our guest bathroom because the toilet is shorter and sometimes I steal DS's step stool.
  • How far along are you? What size is baby this week?    12 weeks, 2 days - plum

What symptoms are you having?   Exhaustion and some nausea is still lingering. I keep hoping to feel some flutters soon and I'm not sure if I'm feeling baby or just gas. I can't wait to know for sure!

Rants/Raves:   Hubby told me to get a man-pedi on Saturday. I sure love that man!

    Any questions this week?    Nope

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it?    Receptionist at a tax preparation office. I learned how to deal with people (I'm a hermit, so that was hard but needed), co-workers, bosses, and customers.

  • @abhphilly the Wonder Weeks app was great for that stuff because it give you a broad window of when to be looking for certain milestones.

@artlea2013 prune juice, stool softeners, lots of fiber! I use a stool instead of a squatter potty but I’m not convinced it helps that much. It does help sometimes, though.

How far along are you? What size is baby this week?    13 tomorrow, lemon

What symptoms are you having?   Exhaustion and some nausea is still lingering plus headaches. Sciatica is already acting up and I noticed some indigestion last night. It’s too early for that crap!!

    Rants/Raves:   I think I have a stomach bug

    Any questions this week?    Nope

GTKY:  “Working” at my grandparents’ janitorial/Pool Supply business. I learned a lot about how businesses run from day to day.

How far along are you? What size is baby this week? 12 weeks 4 days, size of a watch on Thursday!!

What symptoms are you having? @mileswithmyles I am with you on this one.  I didn't take my meds on Saturday and paid for it yesterday throwing up all morning.  I'm done with this shit.

Rants/Raves: Hamilton tickets went on sale in my city today and I scored some!!!! I will be 9 months pregnant but I'm so excited!!! I have also been able to find Gremlin on the doppler every time I try for about a week and am happy.  H is coming on Friday to my MFM appointment and I'm going to ask them to do an ultrasound so he can see her for the first time.

Any questions this week? nope.  @abhphilly  I used the Wonder Weeks app like @MissusTexas  and also really loved the book Baby 411 and would recommend it not only for milestones, but for general care questions like how often to feed, what baby poop should look like, what is constipation look like in a baby (ps, not the absence of poop believe it or not), umbilical cord care, etc.  It was so helpful.

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it?  Tanning Salon.  Being kind to customers and what work is really like.  I thought I could just clock out when the salon closed at first.  There is so much other work behind the scenes.  Also, don't tan. :)
  • @zizzabell523 mani/pedis are the best

    @MissusTexas feel better!

@cups4 I am so done.  I feel like the life has been sucked out of me.  Yay for Hamilton tix!  We went a few weeks ago and I LOVED it.
  • Changed my mind, I actually do have a question this week. It actually pertains to delivery, but wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences. With DD, I got an epidural, but not only did it make me extremely sick to my stomach, it also lowered my blood pressure, which lowered her heart rate, thus causing an elevated risk factor of delivering her quickly. I couldn't even get out of bed for 12+ hours without feeling like I was going to pass out after she was born. I even had a nurse fuss at me for not calling her to help me to the bathroom. I'd love to have a 100% natural birth with this baby simply to keep from going through that again. However, I'm scared of the potential for a C-Section since I was super close to needing one with DD and am concerned about getting sick and my blood pressure dropping again from the spinal block. Has anyone had complications with an epidural but not with a spinal?

  • How far along are you? What size is baby this week?

12+3, baby is the size of a plum

    What symptoms are you having?

Heartburn to the max.  My doctor wrote me a prescription I’m going to pick up later.  Also round ligament pain gets me specially in the evenings.

    Rants/Raves:

    Any questions this week?

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it?

I was a janitor at my dads office.  I learned how to clean a bathroom super fast and well.

  • How far along are you? What size is baby this week?
    12+2, size of a lime!

    What symptoms are you having?
Breaking out like crazy on my forehead, easy to get headaches, constipation and bloat

    Rants/Raves:
Kind of bummed I don't qualify for short term disability. Enrollment period is coming up and because I'm not currently enrolled in STD they will classify this pregnancy as a pre-existing condition, which is so terrible. I'm also moving apartments this weekend and HATE packing, especially glassware and other things that break.

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it?
My first job right out of college was at a bank. I learned a lot from it! Namely, people will throw you under the bus, the power of "sucking up" and putting time into small chit chat with superiors. Things like that. I probably wasn't cut out in that kind of environment so I left. I don't like to play office politics.

  • abhphilly We are doing our announcement after our 20 week scan but we only have Instagram.  Is it weird to have something in your Christmas cards that you are expecting a baby?

artlea2013 The squatty potty doesn't help my constipation but it does help when I actually have the urge to go, to get a good bm.

@bearwithme @cups4  Oh...the doppler is quite addicting.  I do it every morning to start my day cuz, yah, I'm psychotic.

@mileswithmyles Did your last pregnancy sickness last this long? Sorry you are still feeling crappy.

@zizzabell523 izzabell523 and THIS is why I am terrified of the epidural.

  • @justsuzie I turned a corner for the most part at 12 weeks last time.
  • @mileswithmyles Bummer...maybe relief is just around the corner. Hopefully. FX
  • How far along are you? What size is baby this week?
    12w4d Plum for now

    What symptoms are you having?
I'm a little hormonal, and I have acne on my legs, but other than that I'm feeling pretty normal actually.

    Rants/Raves:
Rant: I bought a 12 pack at the gas station for my SO last night and the gas station owner gave me shit about it. He raised his eyebrow, pointed at the 12 pack, pointed at my stomach, and said "I'm not even going to say anything." First of all, you already did... Second of all, it's none of your business what the hell I'm doing with my body. The well intentioned stranger comments are too early to dodge my throat stabbing with this one...
Rave: I'm down to only one nursing session a day now! My little man is getting so big!

    Any questions this week?
    None

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it?
My first job was actually as student demonstrator at the dance studio I trained in. I learned that I love teaching dance through that! My first "real job" was with Panera, and through that I learned that I really effing hate people...
  • @abhphilly As others have mentioned there are books out there that can give you guidelines, but you'll be surprised how much just comes to you naturally!

@artlea2013 I actually started putting my feet up on the toilet seat a long time before the squatting potty came out, and like @MissusTexas said it helps sometimes... Not as much as stool softeners do though, unfortunately.

@zizzabell523 unfortunately I can't help you with an epidural because I didn't use one, but I would keep in mind that no two labors are alike, and you should prepare for a different experience anyway. FX that this birth goes more smoothly for you!

@justsuzie That pic is frame worthy!
  • @zizzabell523 I would also consider asking your OB if they offer any type of alternative pain medication. I didn't even realize it was a question I could ask until after my DS was born and I started seeing questions pop up on the Facebook group for my city's moms page about what the local hospitals offer. Apparently, my hospital, and the one across town, both offer nitrous oxide to help take the edge off. I don't know the details on what the rate of getting sick off of it are versus epidural, or if you are also bedridden while using it, but I definitely plan to ask this time around.

  • @justsuzie I think that’d be nice! We aren’t nearly adult-acting enough to send out holiday cards to everyone, or patient enough to wait until 20 weeks this time (it had been our plan last time though), and we’re really active on social media. It seems much sweeter and more personal to use something like a card.

Boss never showed up to work yesterday, so he remains one of the last people to find out...  :/

  • How far along are you? 13 weeks today

What size is baby this week? Peach, lemon, or scoop of ice cream

What symptoms are you having? Not many right now thankfully.  Just emotional at times.

Rants/Raves: Any questions this week? I don't think so

GTKY: What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it?  I worked at a sandwich shop.  I learned that no one respects you at your first job when you are just 16.  The managers were jerks (they weren't much older than me)
  • How far along are you? What size is baby this week?
    13 weeks today - lemon

    What symptoms are you having?
Fatigue and a bit of lower back pain at the end of the day particularly if I'm picking my toddler up a lot.

    Rants/Raves:
We told everyone on social media and at our offices this week. No more walking around with a giant secret or wearing baggy clothes to hide! It's wonderful

Also my Zulily order arrived and these pink blush leggings are to die for. I am sooooo comfy.

    Any questions this week?
    Nope

GTKY:  What was your first job and what lessons did you learn from it?

Sales clerk at a clothing store.
Lessons learned: seniors are rude to sales staff, I hate people and should not take a career in an area where I would deal with the public a lot (and I didn't, I'm in marketing) and folding clothes. I can still fold clothes like a mad man. I've got skillzzz when it comes to sweaters, even ones with hoods.
  • How far along are you? What size is baby this week? 12w4d, plum

    What symptoms are you having?
    Mostly fatigue.

    Rants/Raves:
I don't want to tell anyone (my parents and best friend know so far). I think it's mostly because I'm an introvert who hates attention, but I also think it might have something to do with my ttc history. We are telling his family at 14 weeks (next time we are all together), so I guess I'll have to tell work and everyone else then. I am not looking forward to it.

    Any questions this week?
    Nope.

  • How far along are you? What size is baby this week? I am 12+5 and baby is the size of a plum.

Symptoms: my fatigue has decreased, but I have gained headaches and my sickness has not let up, I'm also a raging b**** this week.

Rants/raves: I haven't yet found a med that works for my sickness, were moving into a new house right after thanksgiving, thankfully it's a military move and I don't have to do much, but I can't wait to get out of the house we are in. My husband leaves soonish for deployment and I'm still losing it over being alone to have this baby, having a baby in a foreign country and stressing over what's going to happen with my two daughters (I don't have many close friends yet and my 1 year old just weaned so she's very attached and introverted already. She HATES people.)

Questions this week: third time moms... when did you start showing? Is it bad that im still sleeping on my stomach?

Gtky what was was your first job and what did you learn? My first job was working concessions at a movie theater at 15. I learned how to work quick under pressure I guess. Rush times before movies were madness.
  • I’m 12.3

symptoms - I have HG, so that, although this week is less severe and I am able to drink liquids again which is HUGE. Tired, sore hips, constipated from the Zofran pump, acne like woah, dry skin.

Rants - my husband. Ugh. He’s so grumpy and sometimes he’s a great dad and sometimes he yells disproportionately at our son and god forbid I try to say anything to him about it. We are currently not speaking. I just expected him to step it up more with this pregnancy (cause we knew the HG was coming and what it entails). And our house is a mess which he does nothing about even when I beg him. He tells me he needs a break but either my parents or his parents are up here every day helping out. I feel like he has it easier than we expected and he still isn’t coping. Rant over. Thanks.

    No questions.

First job was a dock girl at a boat rental when I was 15. I learned about misogyny.
  • ivyvines6 And that is why he works at a gas station.

kpc914 Sonoline B is amazing. I have a anterior placenta making it difficult to find the HB and I can find it every time with this doppler.
  • @kpc914 I have the sonoline B. Beware having a Doppler has its pros and cons. I found the HB right away for 2 days then the next day I couldn’t find the HB. I was freaking out. Luckily the next morning I found it again. They are very small at this stage and finding the HB can be challenging and cause unnecessary anxiety at times. I’m limiting myself to listening only 2 times a week now.
