@Poppy0419, does your car have remote start? I demanded it when we had to get a van. Our garage is detached and we now have a gate in the middle of the driveway to keep the kids and dogs in the backyard, so I almost never park in the garage. Remote start is a lifesaver.
Oh vans. We will be looking at these after the new year. Luckily, H actually wants to drive it.
We normally let the toddler take a small toy to bed. Today, since we were taking announcement photos he insisted on Buzz and Woody. I stupidly agreed forgetting they talk when you press the buttons. All I can hear in the bath is "Howdy partner" and "To infinity and beyond!" I just wanted him to go to bed without crying and trying to climb out of the crib. This is my penance.
@MrT723 My DS1 is/was a super light sleeper as well. We moved DS2 into his room when he was about a year (in our room or our closet before that). They happily share with no trouble. For the first few months we had to put the baby down first while the older one got special reading time with mommy or daddy, but we were able to drop that and just put them down together now.
@ivyvines6 no spoilers, but in this weeks TWD Maggie said something like “I can still fight through the first trimester” and I’m over here like - you’ve been pregnant forever wtf!!? Also lady don’t you know about lead exposure from shooting??
Regarding moving, we have been looking for a new house for years. We are looking for something very specific that doesn’t come around very often (made one offer in that time). I just hope 2018 is the year, even though moving with a toddler and a newborn or while very pregnant sounds awful, I just want to be done with house hunting!!!
@tincupchalice That’s good to hear. I can’t remember how long we kept DS in our room...much longer than we anticipated. So who knows how long this one will be!
@Ceridwen77 I can’t imagine looking for a house for that long! You must be a very patient person. I would’ve gone crazy by now
I actually love moving- in the sense that we get to explore new surroundings. I swear I wasn't made to set down roots. I've always moved. But physically packing and unpacking. No thanks. We also get the added stress of ensuring wherever we go has access to the entourage of specialists DS needs- neuro, EMT, ortho, deem, ophthalmology- plus your standard therapies- PT, OT, ST. The current move is definitely closer to all of this. Right now I drive an hour one way to eat therapy- 6 times a week. I'm definitely looking forward to cutting that down. But our move to Co will be much trickier since we want to go to a smaller town. If that doesn't work out we will consider Seattle, too.
@Ceridwen21 I really hope you find what you're looking for! House hunting is stressful, for sure- and especiallynso shen you have something specific in mind!
Also- random- has anyone used a particular site for findings child care? When we move we will needn't to hire a nanny and I can't decide where to start- local college? Care.com? Word of mouth searching no hasn't been successful thus far.
@mrt723 I'm in the exact same boat. Two bedrooms upstairs, one on the main floor that is now the girls' playroom. Our plan is to just keep this baby in our room with us until we move, but it finally dawned on me the other day that we'll have nowhere to keep his/her clothes, etc. We met with our realtor the other day who told us we need to declutter and turn the playroom back into a bedroom before we sell our house, so I think the new plan may be to turn the playroom into "baby's" room, use it for the clothes and storage of baby stuff, but still keep baby with us in a bassinet/mini crib. And as much as it's going to suck, we'll have to pick a few favorites for the girls and put the rest in storage.

The timeline on walking dead is really frustrating. But since (story spoilers in box if you're behind on last season)
The Negan attack that killed Glen and Abraham
It's only been a couple of weeks. It's almost like they try to shoot it in 'real time' but because there is only 1 episode per week with a giant hiatus, that means Maggie will likely be pregnant for all of this season and probably next season... maybe next season she'll start showing lol

@mrt723 we did the same exact thing! We're like, well it's not ideal, but we can just keep baby in our room for a few months, a year if absolutely necessary. But then suddenly, I was like, and where will we keep everything else?? Like clothes and diapers, and toys, etc.....so we definitely adjusted our timeline and are shooting for after the new year to get our house on the market. SO not looking forward to the act of moving, although the purging and new house part will be awesome. And we have a lot of family that live close, so hopefully my being hugely pregnant at the time won't be too much of a disadvantage.

@MrT723 & @sandbar517 we are in the same boat with trying to figure out a move. We have plenty of space in our current home, it's too big and too expensive to keep in the long run (taxes) so we want to downsize and move out west. We want to get our current house on the market by the spring (March), and move into our current income/rental property before baby #2 comes which also needs some updating. So that means 2 moves in a matter of a year potentially with a toddler and a baby, and two big dogs. But no way we could stay in our current house with everyone and try to keep it clean enough to be on the market and ready to show at the drop of a hat. Hoping it sells by summer at the latest, we will probably end up taking a hit, but we really need to get out of it. In the fall we will be looking to move out west to the Lake Tahoe area. But better to do it while the kids are young and before we really set down roots with schools and friends I suppose. Good luck to you both!
What are thoughts on when kids are old enough to have their room in the basement? We have three bedrooms upstairs and one in the basement and, planning ahead, trying to figure out. Don't have to worry yet but if we're talking about rooming thought I'd bring it up!

@allie0320 That's a tough one, and I think it's personal preference, really. I personally am very uncomfortable being on different floors than my kids, but mine are still very young. I would think teenager (13ish) would be the minimum I would feel comfortable having a kid be in the basement. But then at that age, I'd be worried about ease of sneaking out! LOL Until then, I would be worried about them becoming confused in the middle of the night if something were to happen (house fire, etc) and not being able to get out, or someone else getting in without my being able to hear it, etc. But I also have anxiety in relation to always thinking about the terrible things that can happen to my kids, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

We are putting the nursery in the basement (it's finished and right below our bedroom). The toddler is already used to having his room on the main floor so moving him would be just a ridiculous mess. The playroom and H's office (aka place to play video games and watch tv) is down there too so we are down there at least half the time so it won't seem like a basement per se. I think starting the baby off there just lets her know its always her room. We also have a bed for me down there so MOTN it can be just her and me if we need to. Teenage years, we can reconfigure out who wants to go where.
@allie0320 I'm comfortable if it's walk out or windows due to fire. I moved into the basement when I was around 14 and stayed there til I moved out. It was a walk out and yes I snuck out.
Ahhh, I can finally post again!!! Did anyone else have their account go crazy in the last week and lock you out from commenting/posting? I could read threads but not respond. I put in a customer service request and they said it was a known issue. So frustrating! Glad to be back!
@arteduc8 I think a lot of us had that issue! It's been on and off for me. I hope people popping back up means they've got it solved!
Well I decided since I'm officially 12 weeks today I was going to tell my boss I'm pregnant, which is not something I am looking forward to. I finally got myself worked up to it but when I asked if we can talk he said he's busy all day! Damn it.
@suchaglencoco no, but it has every other fancy thing ever *eye roll* thanks Hubs. I’m in the market for a Suburban and that is a nonnegotiable. My old Tahoe had it and it was amazing.
@sandbar517 i had an upstairs bedroom in high school and still snuck out the cat door in the backdoor.
@arteduc8 It's not letting me post on mobile today. So I've busted out the computer to get caught up on everything.
@bearwithme, I've used care.com twice and I haven't been happy with either person. (current sitter is one of them.) I've had a hard time with word of mouth as well though. I think it depends what you're looking for. Best resource for weekend sitters is my friend who teaches at the local high school. I think a good full time sitter is easier to find than part time, but maybe not. We have a Facebook group for local moms and that's been really helpful too.
So for the last 5 days or so the forum part of this app was not working properly (until now) it didn't show me how many new posts, and I couldn't write or reply to anyone, I also couldn't "love" anyone's posts either, the options were just not there. Suddenly today everything is working...anyone else experience this?
Kids will do anything to sneak out. I would crawl down the stairs next to my parents bedroom, creak out the backdoor, push my car down our long ass driveway and into the road before starting it up. Then I'd turn off the car and coast back down the driveway and try to park it exactly the same.
@sandbar517 Our 8 year old sleeps downstairs and our dog sleeps with her (the dog is in a crate). I feel better knowing that our very alert collie is down there. I know it’s totally irrational! @justsuzie That’s crazy about the haunted houses! Why would that be a thing? Lawsuits I guess?

It wouldn't let me posted on the mobile app or desktop for nearly a week. Craziness. Glad at least one works for you!
We went to DQ and I got a banana split to eat at home. Then on the car ride home, I ate a cotton candy dilly bar. After I ate the split, I ate pickles and green olives. You guys, I'm a pregnancy cliché. And I also feel huge. It was worth it.
Super loving DH today! I have been ill with a chest infection/sinus infection/earache for over 2 weeks now. Everyday I drag myself out of bed and make myself keep going for the kids. Today I was just so exhausted, I dissolved into a weeping mess on the sofa. So DH has taken the day off work and taken the kids to the park, so I can rest! If only I could sleep...

I've had the same for less than a week. I've been working half days from home and complaining a lot about how awful I feel. No way I would have been able to take care of the kids. So glad your H can take off and help. Have you gone to the Dr? Can they give you anything?
@justsuzie@nanifrog@gildah hauted attractions banning is stupid but yeah, it's mostly about law suits. Because they're not well lit and there's the risk of tripping over other people/props/yourself that's part of it and then theres the change of increase blood pressure and fainting. It's really about knowing yourself though. I hate them with a freaking passion (love being a part of them, HATE going through them) so I won't go pregnant but if you're not showing and you know you love it and you're not going to flip out... just don't tell them. So far I've never seen one try to make anyone pee on a stick lol good luck!
ETA: missed a tag @Cerisrichard you're my sick twin! you poor thing, it's terrible. I have absolutely no voice currently and I'm still trying to hack up a lung. DH had to work late last night but he did dinner and bed alone for me (we usually tag team) and he very sweetly dealt with my weeping-while-balled-up-on-the-couch-self too. Hope you start feeling better!

@ladystinson my husband treats me like a delicate flower and said, no way when I had suggested this last night. With my loss history and bleeding spells he’s pretty much wrapped me in bubble tape. I don’t even tell him I’m going hiking...I say “walking” so he doesn’t worry.
@justsuzie omg I get that... between my husband and my parents you'd think I WAS the baby lol He wasn't even around during my losses but he's being overly (annoyingly lol) protective. I get it, and it's sweet, but I don't think they realize how close they come to getting smacked each time lol
